The Ultra Inevitable Street Fighter V Story Thread

If I’m right MK is now in present day the only fighting game franchise that has the balls to be R-Rated.

Unless it’s a Death Cargo Vs Mortal Kombat, there’s no chances XDD

Well, Mortal Kombat vs Killer Instinct would be a logical and more fitting choice, but there are at least 2 or 3 BIG reasons why it wouldn’t work or simply cannot be done.

I actually there is no problem of a future SF title set in SF3 timeline with most of the legacy and modern characters instead of rebooting entirely SF3. The frustration is just likely because it doesn’t go to what some expected.

And the only conflict with this idea that I like more is the interest of some people that wanting to see what is beyond SF3 and also some people that hates the story of another new Shadaloo Story revolving Bison as the main villain or simply hating a story with Shadaloo even without Bison.

Take note that those that dislike the story that had bison as the main villain or shadaloo is the main organization centered of the game.

This people had different expectation of what the future is along with those that are curious, that had various expectation also like either the neo-shadaloo being the main villain, Urien the main villain or Gill is still the main villain but now revealed in public. Some would even add G to the mix.

There are tons of expectation because there are tons of possibilities on what is beyond SF that can clear conflict each other expectations and what they seems to agree on is that they just want something after SF3 story but it isn’t even necessary especially for a fighting game.

That’s why I prefer an event happening simultaneously within SF3 timeline, which explain why the huge cast along with some of the new weren’t interested or present in Gills event(SF3) or was separated because of a different involvement.

SF4 did better on this area by mixing SF3 with legacy while putting less important cast to be involve other than Juri, Abel and Viper, but the important note is that they are not under into any organization other than SIN that is defunct and explained with sense in SF4, while in SFV was entirely the opposite and would a lot with conflict SF3.

Even if SF5 didn’t exist the only problem left is still the same where were the finest and best fighters of SF aren’t like they didn’t exist in SF3 timeline as if everyone gone to mass retirement or suck into a black hole.

A gradual and gentler movement of the narrative is better IMHO. that just being another huge leap or rebooting.

To be honest I think Street Fighter VI will be a spinoff-like game.

I don’t think it will be a SFV or SF3 sequel in the formal sense.

I think SF4 and V made enough to bridge the gap with the series storyline between II and 3, now it’s time to take a pause.

I think SF6 will feature characters from all the series throughout (but not the most problematic ones such as Gill or Seth) and will have a storyline unrelated to any Street Fighter game so far, and they will purposefully leave its timeline placement ambiguous.

I also predict it will be a change in the formula in tone and graphic style (I think it will be a darker and gritter game).

Call it a ‘detour’ game.

It’s just a feeling.

I have the same thoughts too as another possibility

but the quicker likely route is that they would just wipe out SF3 established narrative/reboot or skip it then ignore everything happened while just putting that this happened etc etc like they did with SF3.

Like something like urien, neo shadaloo or fang while just explain every was gone or destroyed. which is quick but a bad idea just like how SF3 New Generation started,

Or they would say that all the secret society other organization is gone and infiltrated by shadaloo, then most of shadaloo previous fighter along with it’s opposition were either killed or turned something else after it recovered back in to power or something then bison has a new better body.

That’s why we almost head into this

Why would they pull off of something that the rest is gone? like if they choose one of the other possible big baddies and main org, either Urien, Fang, Gill, G or Neo Shadaloo they would the rest gone or may keeping a few. Why? because to make things quick and avoid any explanation regarding the rest. it’s SF3NG problem all over again because it’s about cutting ties not about establishing connection.

So characters that probably be eliminated and go back would end up more of like NASH like problem in SFV. either be a zombie, spirit, ghoul, frankenstein and etc.

So likely were nearing to this instead of what I like and preferred that is gradual movement that is fixed on SF3 problem

From a scan of Complete File that Ryoredcyclone posted on his Twitter. The Japanese text of the translation you gave me is exactly the same word for word, so it’s the same source. BUT in the Japanese text there’s no mention of that note, so either it was somewhere else in the page or it was a translator’s guess. I mentioned that the Japanese wiki does cite that “there’s a setting in which Blanka’s name comes from the Spanish ‘hombre blanco’”. However, it didn’t link to any source. The first edit in the Japanese wiki that mentions this interpretation dates back to 27 February 2006, and its edit history explains that it came FROM THE ENGLISH WIKI article about Blanka. In the English wiki, the first edit mentioning this interpretation dates back to 6 December 2005. The same wiki contributor who did it edited in the same day other English wiki articles about other SF characters, with facts presumably brought from the old plot guide. The “hombre blanco” explanation IS INDEED PRESENT IN THE OLD PLOT GUIDE, and judging by its Revision History it was already there since 10 October 2005. Here we are: so the old plot guide factoids crept in the Japanese wiki… It’s “Lucia Morgan” all over again.

Yes, it comes from that, or at least Sakura ganbaru! cites the same event. Dan and Sakura witness Blanka being beaten by Zangief, and Dan recognises Jimmy.

“He saved my life in the Amazon jungle when (OMISSION)!”
LOL, so Nakahira purposely avoided to explain when and where that happened.

I understand, but it’s a titanic effort… I’ll revise the accounts in the weekend, as I’m busy with my job.

“We know our players are wondering what’s next for Street Fighter V, so we have some exciting news to share. Due to the positive reception to Season 4 and Champion Edition, we are planning to do a final Season “V”, which will add “V” more fighters to the roster. Three new stages are also being planned.”

5 new characters which means 5 more character stories coming to SF5!

Excellent news! This brings the total # of characters to the final SFV game to 45. Not bad.

Any predictions? Any takers?

Oh, just to conclude the research… The “Blanka was hombre blanco” explanation actually comes from an unsourced comment by Saiki IN THIS VERY FORUM, dated JANUARY 2003.
So, let me summarise:

Jan 2003: Saiki comments in the old story thread of the Shoryuken forums that

Blanka was actually called “hombre blanco”, which means white man in spanish. Originally, Blanka had very, very white skin and in time, I guess it went from “hombre blano” to Blanka in little Jimmy’s mind.

Pure guess, then.
By 10 October 2005, that factoid is included in the Old Plot Guide.
6 December 2006, it’s included in the English Wikipedia page about Blanka.
27 February 2006, it’s included in the Japanese Wikipedia page about Blanka.
Interesting note, the English wiki now doesn’t cite that factoid anymore, while the Japanese wiki still has it, albeit unsourced.
Oh, this is for @Arc_Hound: in May 2006 Tiamat admitted to Vasili that he didn’t remember where he got Lucia’s last name from. So, unless it turns up some unexpected source… Tiamat created Lucia MORGAN.

Good choices.

Any chance they might add an original character, for the SFV era?

I mean, we don’t need Eagle do we?

Usually two characters are new. I guess one will be this time.

Oro and Rose were in the rumors

Wich leave room for 2 more males and 1 female, who’s likely to get it… the usual long list of names, many can have a good claim

If i could chose these 3 i will go with Fei Long, Abel, Elena… but is not likely what they will do, of these Fei got easily best chance

Good news btw

Just give me Rose with that epic Venice stage, fighting on the Bucentaur while it navigates the Grand Canal.
Then I’d like Ingrid with the Iceland stage I imagined, but maybe it’s too late to hope to influence Capcom like Tiamat did. :stuck_out_tongue:

the guy that leaked season 4 said Rose was a finished character ages ago. So I guess with covid-19, some of those finished characters that had been cancelled, are now coming out cause SF6 is most likely delayed

Guys… I will love a season like S2 with 1 classic and 4 “New” (playable debut)

Rose, Maggio, Effie, Haggar and Vivian :blue_heart::blush:

One new character, I want to see.

She would finally give a proper conclusion to T-Hawk, Juli and the rest of the dolls along with them being free. I always like her if we can’t get the twin Xianyu and Jianyu switching to each other like Zeku is able to switch to a younger form.

Talking about absence:

Im fine with the absence of Rose with Menat, Rose showing up for future titles is better. Since she was already in SF4. Her absence is meaningful and probably up to something, The story give it sense and why menat is there instead of her, Unlike Viper because she is directly involve with Urien. So her inclusion is hard deny unless she would play a bigger role in future SF title, that she is always behind the scenes and intentionally avoid unnecessary encounters. We already knew she was also present in SF2 timeline because of the SF4 aftermath video. The real problem of Viper is her absence in SF3 not really in SF5.

While Oro has multiple excuse not being in SF5 and because they gave a preview already of what he is doing(Dhalsim & Menat) and his doing usual hermit stuff unlike Viper which was directly involve. So him not being in SF5 is just fine.

Forcing Oro in SFV makes him dumb like making him scouting Ryu since wayback from the start and only talk to him latter is silly. Oro made sense being interested with Ryu after being better and stronger than Evil Ryu.

image

…And Ryu progress of moving away of SNH and Evil Ryu just started in SFV by being to finally separate Kage away himself entirely to it’s influence, which is just the start of Ryu training of self to be being better than Evil Ryu not making him instantly better. So making Oro jump into Ryu in SFV or wayback in past is silly. So Oro doesn’t have an interesting inclusion SFV or isn’t needed, unless they want to force him to Ryu.

Yet Capcom might pull in a Goutetsu as a surprise for telling a backstory from the past not in the present.
