Planning on getting buttons for the wife’s Panzer when I get back … also going to decide while on my trip if I want to finally step up to a fully custom stick.

Behold. The one (and according to my wife, “ONLY”) CRT I will have in my home. A Sony PVM-14L5. It’s fucking tiny, but it’s beautiful. And it does 480P too!
Here’s the setup. It’s split to an OSSC via gscartsw to output HDMI to the LCD on my desk.
Still deciding on whether or not to sell my PC Engine+SSDS3. MiSTer really kicks ass! …kinda makes it irrelevant.

Niiiice. I wish I had access to a PVM.
I only have 1 CRT right now (and it’s not even at my house at the moment; still stored at my parents’ house when I moved in 2015), and it’s a nice JVC 20" flat screen that I got on local classifieds for $20, back in late 2013. It’s a little on the bigger side, but it was cheap and it does 240p over component; so it works beautifully with a Supergun and arcade boards.
My wife has hated it since I got it, but has recently warmed up to its concept since we dug up her old SNES stuff from her childhood from her parents’ place in early 2019, and the only way to play the Super Scope games that she loved as a kid is on a CRT. A win for me! 
I thought about building a pedestal/housing for it so that I can turn it into a cabinet, but never got around to finalizing that design…

Big Props @drawnfix , kinda happy I didn’t pull the trigger on that 1600x1200 monitor I was eyeing a few weeks ago, there definitely are some nostalgia feelz from gaming on a small ass CRT 
Office closed today for the 4th of July holiday, so starting this weekend’s project early 
Assembled the pile of PC bits amassed from eBay auctions, Newegg Shell Shocker deals, and misc Amazon buys over the last two weeks, and thankfully it posted!
Ran the Quick Test in the above tool, and the used 9900K I picked up for peanuts passed! Currently putting it through Burn-In Test

Passed the Burn-In test, woo! Spent the rest of evening, up 'til 3AM, ripping out the old PC, dusting, and stuffing this into my case. I KNO this should’ve gone into the GD PC thread, but feel so safe here in the B.U.T.T.H.O.L.E., will get brave and share with the community on future posts.
Sorry about the poor cable management, but I still have no good solution for cleaning up SATA cables.

Got a US PS3 Super-Slim that I’d like to use to play (region-locked) JP PS1 original disc games. Is there any low-cost mod-chip that would let me do that? No need for the ability to play backups or ISOs; I just need the region-lock lifted. Any suggestions?
Was in insomniac mode yesterday, and really didn’t see anything out there that I would call “good” as far as PS3 mod chip offerings.
Got some OG PS1 disc swap flashbacks seeing kids on YouTube jam masking tape/paper clips/old SIM cards/cell phone splurgers/you name it into the drive cover sensors on their super slims to swap PS1 gamez.
What I did keep seeing was people using an exploit the systems web browser to unlock homebrew and playing games off the HDD

From what I’m reading, apparently all PS3s can play PS1 games. I haven’t tried with my Super-Slim myself yet (just been lazy).

Thanks for that. Additional reading that I’ve done tells me that there’s no real solution to my problem. Basically I’d just want to be able to play my original JP PS1 discs on an HDMI-compatible TV. Might actually be simplest and easiest for me to get my hands on a Sony-style RAD2X; I have a JP PS2 Slim that can obviously play the PS1 games.

Ps3 superslim will okay Ps1 games, but its a software emulation.
Now with Ps3 playing import pa1 titles, you gotta go with what’s on the PSN store or custom firmware
Not really looking to re-buy my physical discs digitally, and definitely not looking for CFW on this PS3 Super Slim as it’s actually the PS3 that I keep all my digital-only PS1/PS2/PS3 games on.
Yeah, in reviewing all my options, I think getting a Sony-style RAD2X is probably the most convenient for me; whenever there ends up being some stock. Plus, I’d be able to use my original PS1 and PS2 hardware to play the games.

Unrelated, I popped out my GameCube’s jewel-top circle thinggie. I bought this GameCube used, so it was pretty scratched up. I’ve already cleaned it up like 6 months ago, but the jewel was still really banged up. I took some rubbing compound, swirl remover, and car wax to it. It’s far from perfect, but already a much-needed improvement from what it was before.

Definitely looks cool, big follower of Dan Kunz/citrus3000psi’s work.
It does look complicated, though, but my gripe is that the original PS1 formfactor is large and bulky.
It’d be cool if the mod (or a future variation of it) worked on:
- PS2 Slim
- PS2
- PSOne
in that order. Especially since all PS2s play PS1 games natively anyways.

From what I’ve read (admittedly almost a year ago) was that PS1Digital was coming first with PS2Digital following “soon” after.
When that is (especially with all the crap the world is experiencing), is anyone’s guess.
I’m holding off for the second release.

Totally agreed on holding off for a second release.
Not to diminish these guys’ accomplishments, but sometimes I wonder how the market/demand is.
In this case, as far as I know (unless someone tells me otherwise) PS2s can do 100% of what a PS1 can do. So my thought process would be “why not make the HDMI mod for the PS2 to start with?”
Likewise, I know citrus3000psi had done the GCDual, then the WiiDual. As far as I know, the only real significant feature that the GC has that the Wii can’t do is play GBA games via the GB Player. If that part’s not important to you, then I would say the GCDual mod is almost entirely superceded by the WiiDual mod.
Maybe I’m overthinking this and it was just easier to start off with the PS1Digital, considering the PS1 only does 240p/480i, while the PS2 also does 480p?

He did, he ran into a road block. He took a break and decided to look at the PS1.
Since the PS1 hardware very similar he decided to tackle that first which helped him work on the PS2 mod.
