This might seem worthless but something interesting I’ve been doing that actually gives me time to think and absorb a lot of “knowledge” about Marvel is to watch some tourney vids in slow motion.
Download VLC player and watch all the vids in slow motion (33% - 66%). It sounds stupid but it really enhances all the little details greatly. It really highlights all the little moments in a match. You might catch a little thing or two that you would otherwise never realize because the game runs at such a quick speed.
I’ve seen Justin Wong do some pretty original magneto resets that no one else does but had I not slowed things down it would be hard to catch exactly what he did and WHY he did it in such a way no one else would be quick enough to block it.
I gotta know, Potter, why do you think nobody uses Cammy anymore? I think she’s a great assist, maybe not as damaging as Cap but she has her uses?
I’m fairly new to the game, just picked it up a few weeks ago. I wanted to main an Omega/Cable/Doom team, but I’m having a hard time finding places to learn anything on Omega. Have any tips, or places I can learn things about him.
IMO Media Player Classic is the best for Marvel. Just hold the right arrow on your kb and it will go very slowly, or tap it to watch details in frame by frame. A single tap will also work to pause the vid, which I think is much better than mouse shenanigans.
On Cammy, I’m sure Potter knows more about it than I do, but one problem that she has when compared to Capcom is that she can’t hit 2 characters at once. If you call Capcom to get rid of Sent/Capcom pressure at the right time you may very well hit both of them. If you call Cammy she’ll only hit the assist and Sent will keep stomping you. Also, Cammy gets stopped by stuff like Doom pink shit. She is good, but not as good as Capcom, Psy or Cyc.
Question: I was playing this guy who could consistently hit me on the back even when I’m cornered and sjing back. I know Mag and the likes can force a side change using air dashes, but how can he force me out of my corner with Cable, for instance? I’m just sjing back and when I land he is hitting me from my back, and he’s back is now in the corner. Help anyone?
Cammy goes through the pink stuff. She gets stuffed by Doom rocks. Basically, she’ll go through all non-solid projectiles and beams. I agree that she isn’t as good an assist as Capcom, psy, or cyc for sent.
I was wondering if I could get some tips on getting in on my opponent so I can combo them.
I play Thanos/Sent/Psy or Cyke AAA. Thanos is my favorite character but I can never get close enough to launch so I can air combo. I always get hit with dash assists and projectiles so I can hardly touch the opponent and I have to rely on hoping they mess up so I can hit them with a super. If I’m out of meter then I’m screwed. Any tips?
Edit: I also like to mess with Rogue sometimes and I have the same problem as I do with Thanos lol.
You’re asking about really basic problems with Thanos, which is why he’s low tier. People in that forum have already gone over most of that madness.
Against good players, you’re either going to be rushed down or run away from. Thanos is going to be run away from, and he’s not going to be able to catch them very often. If you don’t have a 80% combo in mind to use when you get your one hit, you probably lost at the character select screen.
my general philosophy is: If I cannot execute it over 40% of the time there is no use in implementing it to my repertoire of advanced skills. I think it can be gamebreaking, but risking cables life is worth more + you waste a meter imo. The only way it could be even somewhat useful is if you can ensure that if you miss you fall right through the hsf everytime. HOWEVER, I have never seen this actually happen even 50% of the time. It is just too hard to execute, and even if you can get it 100% of the time smart sentinel players would stop trying to chip you lol.
The more I see cable the shittier he looks at high levels. Successful cable play is cyclical or regional. What I mean is he can only win off of a “surprise” factor. People are unaccustomed to his strengths and his style and thats how he can win. After that, his shittiness is exposed quite easily. So you should rely on that as opposed to solid play because at high levels he is not even as viable as iron man these days. He should be a counter-picked character at this point and not a staple in your team/style. I think a great cable player (cough me) at ohio would have surprised and crushed dreams. I have not seen any cable players on the videos that are worth wasting time over.
In socal: I think cable still wrecks shit, but I would recommend that you only “occasionally” use him so people never get used to fighting him. lol. OG tourney tactics always work. SANDBAG SANDBAG SANDBAG
Everything I say doesn’t matter because competitive marvel is non-existent these days.
What would you recommend to use against Blackheart teams, a time’s I have problems spreading the floor and get stuck using storm’s anti-air asst.:chainsaw:making it a slug fest.
yes that is the purpose of using this technique; it forces ur opponent to play honest and not jump. If they hold up they get hit by it automatically. The only downfall of this tactic is if they hit low to start the match, you cannot block it. The risk reward still benefits you imo. Getting that snap in the beginning is worth taking an air combo, or anything really.
Against bh ALWAYS use cable if you can effectively use em. The match up is too fckn ez for cable. Jump when bh jumps gun + viper (if safe). Ground gun when hes’ on the ground + viper. Its easy to bait that full screen move that makes the ground rise or whatever. Guard cancel out of the demon super and punish. It’s great because hes heavy enough where you do not need great reactions to hit confirm viper. Plus if he plays too safe it benefits you because you’re building meter the entire time. The only way bh should hit you is with ghetto tricks you aren’t familiar wit.
