You understand the strengths and weaknesses of msp from that one match. I would much rather watch 5-7 matches just so I can see you play more than once, especially in situations where you are losing. I don’t recommend doing slide resets. Your execution is decent. Post up more vids imo.

Hey guy/gal, Robust is not discriminating against you because you may potentially be a female. He is simply trying to not waste his time and space in this thread by replying to joke posts or joke posters. However, your question is also very basic and not on the grounds of anything specific that hasn’t already been covered in the MvC2 threads. You are possibly new to the game, so you have issues more specific than, say, beating a top team that exploits a certain strategy. Your help lies along the following:
-picking characters to use (if you want to have a staple team)
[if u are having trouble here, try them all and see who you like whether it is for aesthetic reasons, attacks, or abilities, etc.]
-learn the moves (www.gamefaqs.com)
-learn the elements of the game (dhcs, guardbreaks, pushblock, superjumping, variable counter, variable combinations, assists, dashing, variable attacks, safe rolling, tech throws, snapbacks, etc)

-try to win…if your boyfriend wins a lot, look at what he does to win and learn both how to emulate it and how to beat it (after you get to this point, Robust is your guy)

p.s. check to see if your bf is any good. pick Megaman-projectile/Storm-expansion/Cyclops-antiair
with megaman, shoot buster shots with hp and call storm if he is fullscreen away. block and call cyclops if he is close. learn to dhc to storm’s hailstorm super. learn to move around in the air w/o getting hit. do a lot of hps in the air and learn to float. learn to lightning attack back into the air and do more. land and use hailstorm super to hit him and his assist when he assist calls. learn to hit him with cyclops and do hailstorm. if it gets any more complicated than that…

You need to learn how to play sent/cyke to be mexcellent with this team. That involves overcoming sent/capcom. This team has a lot of weaknesses: it is at a disadvantage to sent/cap and cable/sent. It is better against magneto than thrax imo. Start storm for this match up imo. Sent works well too. Starting sent on this team more viable than thrax imo. To be good with these teams that don’t have capcom, you NEED to learn how to have superior positioning. Capcom cannot save you, in fact he’s there to punish you. That means you need to learn how to sent solo to have a great sent/cyke, sent/cable. Also, using storm is vital. Sent/Storm is important to counter capcom. You should only be calling cyke/cable at the LAST possible moment. I know cyke has invincibility, but if called at the right time hes a lot better. It’s uphill battle, but this team, at least theoretically is the best team in the game. I really like this team a lot, its my preferred team when i go to the arcade and try to get long streaks. The downfall is you don’t have an anti air that can be used to chase, but you do have storm and sent who can chase individually.
Opening move against msp should ALWAYS be block. There is no point in pressing anything. I also recommend calling cyke thereafter. Jwizzle has THEE craziest lockdown string with storm/cyke. It is such a broken ass combo imo. If you can’t overcome beating sent/cap then this team isn’t for you. The benefits aren’t from its “easiness” but like sscable its end of the game benefits. If you’re good enough to utilize the tools of this team you SHOULD be winning tournaments. This team is not thrax, so don’t play it like that. Its strengths are not in apply pressure, but counter/defensive style. Apply pressure only when opportune. Cyke inherently is a counter-based assist, so use him like that. that or for lockdown since he stays on the screen for a bit. Sentinel pressure game is great, but defensive is just as good imo. Like i said sent/cyke is usually at a disadvantage, but its such a solid and dependable pair. Storm/cyke is a lot better than storm/capcom. So, that’s a benefit. You can rush and depend on cyke all game. It’s just an awkward team. The zoning is much different than thrax. Cyke hits differently and covers a different trajectory than capcom; therefore, you cannot just spam him AT ALL vs. thrax. The benefit of turtling with this team is that you can call cyke and combo or super. Making your opponent fearful of trying to rush.
Fighting cable with this team is SUPER tricky. Like I said you cannot spam cyke and he should only be called when you’re next to cable and at the latest possible moment. Getting close is extremely difficult with this team. I can’t really tell you how to do it really, because if I were cable I don’t see a sent/cyke get close unless I mess up. This team is all about capitalizing and maximizing damage. for example, Fast fly + cyke + one more rp, or and hit by cyke -> dhc. Cyke is a great one-on-one fighter as well. I’ve actually seen people tag in/counter in cyke when fighting cable since his double jump is perfect to hit cable.

sscable: cable should only be called to relieve pressure, not spammed. He’s way too important to be on the screen/getting hit. Also, he gives the other player A TON of meter. If you catch main+assist = 1 whole meter. And it doesn’t do enough damage to be giving away all that meter. Use cable to pressure like you would cyke. He hits at wierd angle, but once you get used to it you should be able to capitalize off of skimitar whether it gets 1-8 hits. Sent/storm is best on this team, better than sent/cable. You cannot spam assists on this team either. I posted the benefits of this team earlier in the thread. Post up vids and i’ll try and help.

I don’t think sent/doom has that many issues imo. Its like using sent/cable, yeah it has an anti-air, but its not great. It’s rough against cyke, but if you understand when to call doom and the way the rocks hit, this duo can be GREAT. I like cable/sent/doom a lot. I like it against scrub and I think it can work well against thrax as well. Patience is important, but knowing doom’s limitations is how you adapt to the fight. Doom has great lockdown/chip that is underutilized from the videos i’ve watched. I play this team so differently than clock, its about your philosophy, i guess. Guard canceling is key to escaping pressure. Even then, you can only pressure for so long. Sent/cyke gives this team a lot of problems, but if you’re impatient it will defeat you. People gave me a look how shitty sent/doom is, but I think its actually really good and I think I’ve shown the naysayers that it is a legitimate team through playing it “differently” than typical sent/doom.
