His goal is to hit you and kill you, everyone’s goal is. You get an equal chance to end him as well, BUT YOUR 1 hit is better than his 1 hit. So it’s the reason why I take the risk to go toe-to-toe with him. The more the match goes on, the the higher the risk is for you. trying to keep him away is bullshi’t, this is why new Cable’s are failing these day. They try to do this text book bullshi’t and it doesn’t work, plain and simple. It doesn’t matter about all this little technical frame date or whatever. Like I said earlier, some success can’t be explained. When something works for me, I stick with it. I don’t really care about them feeling bad and me feeling good, I care about my life bar up, and their life bar down. I disagree about how Cable’s make comebacks. When people are ahead and you’re low on health, they’re just going to run from you. You’re going to have to take risks. If you’re playing Cable from across screen and it’s working for you, Hell, I’m not going to say anything. Everyone has their strength and weakness in a situation. More the player than the character.

great thread. what do you think about team row? is it still competitive? i agree with potter, cable just doesnt seem to cut it against the best mags/storms these days. he just doesnt seem to have the tools. i figure on paper cable+rocket punch really shouldnt be able to beat anything.

As a Cable player, I want to Vype people, I look for the vype just like ironcrap looks for the hit I don’t care how I get it, I’m GOING to get you, even if I have to take the risk, aggression beats the opposite.

Shoultzula- that Bruce lee thing, UGHH so godlike. especially this

“Your offense should be simple and direct because it may be to hard to control.
But against someone who can project a complex attack should be your role.
Timing, the key to a complex attack, must be practiced until you have the knack.
The feint should be just enough to distract and create an opening so you can act”

Dammit, Duc! Get back to the Spiral thread and revive it! J/k Did you ever post a sure way to mash her Fierce throw for a shitload of damage?

Eric at CF + Team Row + Not being drunk = Unstoppable

Team Row is still godlike.

Cable doesn’t cut it against the best Mags/Storms these days because Mags and Storm are higher tier, but as long as people keep mashing their assists, Cable will keep vyping.

and if they dont mash assist?

cable doesnt even cut it against sent

lol @ row being viable

reverse row is great vs msp but row gets shitted on by a ton of teams and lacks team fluidity

mss-a is leagues better just because of dhc options

Sent is higher tier than Cable and Cable isn’t as bad as you make him out to be.

Row is still viable compared to other teams, unless you really want to degrade Marvel to just msp/thrax/matrix/cf/mss.

^-- I think Marvel already degraded there. The team tier evolved when you weren’t looking. Pretty sure about that.

I personally see people playing Row as their fun team these days, but I don’t think it’s anybody’s serious “go to” team on a top level. Other than Row, but I think he lives off of raw talent (which is why he’ll miss stuff others would hit and hit stuff others would miss).

Cable’s a pretty good assist character, but he cannot hang with M/S/S.

yes, he is

why do you think all of the GOOD players dropped cable?

its an uphill battle from the start of the match- EVERY MATCH

if cable started with 2-3 meters instead of just one, he’d be much better, but this isn’t fantasy theory marvel

compared to what teams? sent/guile/charlie?

lol @ degrade

if you can’t handle seeing MSP/thrax at top of tournaments then be the change you wish to see

i happen to enjoy seeing top level thrax vs thrax or thrax vs msp

team row has far too many deficiencies which (as preppy said) can only be overcome by raw talent- IN WHICH CASE moving to a more versatile/capable team would be the better move if said person is trying to be the BEST

Screw this thread and it’s theories, my posting days are over, I’m just going to stick with playing the actual game, I’ll learn myself. MARVEL FOR THE WIN!

I find it humorous when people who think they know whats up post terrible theories/strats. What’s even funnier is when people who post good to great strats suck at the game. Don’t practice what you preach? More like, you know what to do but can’t do it when it matters. Maybe ya’ll should just stay in theory fighter and let the players play. lol.

i appreciate the posts everyone has made, but I don’t really approve of random people trying to answer questions with answers I feel are unsatisfactory, especially to the players who are genuinely trying to learn. I really want people to learn, so if you think your strats are that nice, do not get mad if you are shitted on for polluting peoples game with garbage.

about row, bill took the words out my mouf. Team is garbage, and even in reverse row, its not that great imo. After sent dies, you’re pretty much fucked unless you have a good solo cable and solo mag. It’s definitely better in that order, but you have to be a lot better than your opponent to win continuously and consecutively. I actually think rowtron would be better if he used sscable or scrub imgo

People trying to learn: YOU NEED TO LEARN HOW TO PLAY CHARACTERS SOLO. Assists shouldn’t be something you rely on, but something that enhances your solo skills. Solo character skills > team skills. Solo characters win tournies, relying on team dynamics can only get you top 25.

Also, just because you see someone win =/= gdlk ass team. To the contrary, it just means the player is good. I posted earlier about this. Erik, who is brought up constantly, can beat you cf guys with almost any team he wants. He’s one of the only, if not only player, that can use up to 8 teams to beat the best players in the world. He should be beating you guys with doom/cyke/spiderman.

btw aggression with cable isn’t possible. He doesn’t have an air dash, float, or flight. only super jump, regular jump, and super jump cancel. lol

Against flying Sent backed by aa (cc/cyc) what do you recommend for someone playing MSS and CF.

What’s your opinion on Strider/Doom and Anak teams (http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=lGeXFNPFlSM&feature=related).

Potter, I appreciate you’re trying to help people here. I don’t know how well strats will help though. Like you said, it’ll end up turning into theory. The only counter theory is actual game play. Which is why top players never really post. People who don’t post>people who post for that reason. I truly believe that the best way to get better is for people to grow a strong mental toughness and go out there and try to learn for themselves. This game is much too complex for guidelines for people to follow. Everyone’s got to do there own thing really. Learning the hard way is the best way for a game like this. I’m glad you’re trying to help people, I think the thread is a good idea and for a top player to be posting up stuff is good. But just so people know, it takes more than reading something to get better at this game. I got a question, you’ve used team clock occasionally in the past, what’s your general synopsis on it? It’s my main team and I’d like to share opinions on it from a top player other than clock.

i was actually waiting on this :woot:

Perspective is the potion

take your time with your responses potter, no need to rush a good bit of information.

i think alot of people are turning this thread into a waste, lets focus on the perspective that is being offered, not your own.

If I were to try and learn a new team, like Santhrax, where should I start? I know this is very vague, but I mean should I start with learning how to fight with Commando if/when he’s on the screen? Learn safe ways to rushdown with storm? Chip/pressure with Sent?

Edit: like everybody else, I appreciate your feedback. Making a thread like this and keeping it up takes a lot of time and effort.

Your question is SUPER BROAD , so i’m going to have to give it a broad answer.

  1. Keep the mentally while you play to figure out how to hit someone, and not get hit.

  2. Stay Patiant .

  3. Know your options.

  4. Practice as much as you can.

  5. Just play.

in order to actually learn thrax your gonna have to sit in trainning mode, practice every combo you can come up with, read the threads, watch videos, and just play.

Your basicly asking, “in a fight, when should i throw out a punch, or kick?” It all depends on the situations and the options you have.

However if you follow the steps i outlined, you should be on the road to learning the team.

See I appreciate you post, but read my posts. I’ve already posted ALL OF YOUR OPINIONS in previous pages. If you can’t take the time to read what i’ve posted, then don’t take the time to post. You’re wasting everyone’s time. I think team clock is GREAT. I WISH I could use strider as good as clock could, but unfortunately there is only one clock. His lockdown is so much better than every other strider doom, aside from maybe devil X. He has literally no holes in his lockdown. No one else can keep you there for 5 meters and make you feel helpless. If he knows what you’re trying to do, pushblock/mash, he will make you pay for it. No one and i mean NO ONE else can do it like. Good luck asking him for help. You guys think i’m keeping secrets, I’ve asked dude over 7 times IN PERSON to help me learn s/d. No love. Team 3? NOPE. That’s why he gets the wrath of a young mexican when we play in tournament. s/d is the best team imo against msp aside from msp itself. I still don’t understand how clockw0rk loses, I really don’t. Well I do know, but I won’t tell you guys why. I’ve seen your vids, and I must say your lockdown is mediocre at best. It’s about as good as mine and I do not use the team. You have a decent sent/doom, but it still needs a lot of improvement. Watch clock vids and build off his concepts/lockdown. Also, it doesn’t help if you play someone from so cal, who knows how to get out of the trap when it isn’t perfect. This team requires more perfection than msp. You can’t miss any teleports or get any wall grabs. You can’t just slide your fingers, motions are important, and lockdown is different for every character. Clock’s lockdown strings are ridiculous, his tricks are superb, and he knows how to win. His doom, like i was preaching earlier about solo play, is not just an assist. He can rip your shit with doom and comeback. He just knows the ins and outs of the team. He dominates out of towners worse than duc did and he will continue to do so. I can’t give you advice how to actually perform perfect lockdown, just how i can’t teach people how to perform perfect dashes with magneto or storm. There is another level to strider/doom that only clockw0rk is at. Everyone else has lockdown that is EASY to escape. Who knows though, josh1080 took team combo to another level with hard work. I’m sure you guys can too.

Difficulty for this team: 10
usefulness: 10
I think it is a top 3 team if played right
I’m sure if any of the top-players could execute the trap like clock, we’d all use it.

Not that my theory is top tier material, but i notice many S/D teams have poor level management.
Example: Say you successfully activate orbs, but halfway through, the opponent somehow gets out. Many Striders try to jump up after them to hit them with, at most, 5 orbs before it wears off. Funny thing is, they wouldn’t have any levels. If, instead of ALWAYS chasing them, they work on that next level (I use ducking RH cancelled into doggie) and be patient, it would really help them overall.

If Strider is out there, he should ABB. Always be building (levels). That insures he is always a threat when he’s at point.
Robust, what’s your take on this? Good, bad, decent?

decent at best. if you do the trap right you should build 1/2 to 2/3rds of a meter without having to chase. If strider starts with 2.5 meters when he comes on the screen that should be at least like 30 MARVEL seconds of lockdown and about 50 chip damage on a character, not to mention frustration. rh cancel into dog should only be used when you’re right next to the character and doom is either on the screen or about to leave. Its a decent way to activate orbs. The reason why you see striders chasing is because they don’t know how to the trap right. Plain and simple. Strider shouldn’t have to work hard to build meters unless your sent gets raped. then its already an uphill battle. I don’t see clock EVER trying to build meter unless he is already at a big disadvantage or its one-on-one. And when he does its for purposes of lockdown that coincide with building meters. It’s really amazing some of the lockdown he does WITHOUT orbs with strider. He’s just a such a higher level than everyone else. I know you guys are thinking, well howmuch better can he actually be? The trap looks basic. It’s far from that. You need to take into account pushblocking, assist calling (on both side), and ways to keep blockstun longer or shorter depending on your goal. Also mixups. Most s/d use the same patterns everytime and expect it to always work. Yeah right. Clock knows the perfect times to mix it up. His corner combos/lockdown are stupid as shit. I don’t see any other striders do a lot of the things clock does. It’s sad to say, but everyone else just looks sloppy lol. myself included
