Well in every Claw v. Zangief match I’ve played or seen played, there is a disgusting use of crouching hk involved… Jumping mp and hp are highly useful… I guess walk up throws work at an intermediate level but the only good they do with higher level (the vid I’m posting Gief was unsucessful in doing so, and instead used crouching hk after walking up) players is baiting them into sliding…
-ARG is questionably the best claw player in the world, if a well spaced crouching hk works against him it will work against anyone.
k, just got done watching snake eyes n this situation against supernyc n he nailed him out of the 2nd buttslam everytime out of about 4 or 5 matches with the standing jab chop. i tried 2 do the same n i blocked him then jab punched him off. what happened with me was probably a fluke, but the way snake eyes did it, it looked reliable enough that nyc changed tactics.
Oh hey. I believe I’ve found a usable Gief 100 percent combo!
lots of other good ones as well.
it’s: deep jump in down hp, c. lp x3, cmk, banishing flat, super.

That isn’t really a 100% combo since it ends with a throw (and the green hand whiff gives them enough time to combo you back), but it looks like it can catch someone off guard. It’s too bad the green hand whiffs when you want to go for guaranteed damage. My favorite combo in that vid was the 4 hit (+throw) xup splash, mp, lk, cr. mk xx RBG on Fei Long. It even dizzies! Hopefully it works on Sim and Bison (the two characters who can’t reversal w/o super).
TNB, you should look at the Zangief section of my FAQ. If you hit with a splash and can get all of the hits in the setup that you described, you’re much better off just doing one of Zangief’s easy dizzy combos and then ending the match with the super. Guaranteed damage. You get style points, though. Just keep in mind that people getting comboed generally wait on openings like the one your setup provides to counter and escape.
Yeah…that’s a good one, but I’d only use that if I had a FAB stored up. There are a few others that will give you the win outright if you land that xup splash. To find them, read my signature.
Lol same here. I’m so terrible at combos that it is the best thing I can pull off. I still manage to mess it up every now and then under pressure.
Anyways we need to have some of those killer matches again man. I’d play you now, but my ps3 is down for the count (yellow light of death). Amazon super saver shipping blows and I’ll probably get the replacement in 2-3 weeks. I wanna find out how much better I’ve gotten .
How do you guys play against Chun-li? I cant seem to get past her fireballs/standing roundhouse/sweeps
Also seem to be having trouble blocking Bison’s crossups. Is there a certain way to block his cuz for some reason i see it coming & push forward & still miss the block.
Green hand works well vs her fireballs if you get used to her weird fireballs. Kick lariat doesn’t hit her in while she is in her fireball stance, so punch lariat may come in handy every now and then. Try trading with her low forwards with your sweep, and just kick lariat if they sweep a lot.
Vs. Bison I usually just hold back to block his crossups. For some reason most of the time I block it that way and it works. Maybe it is a visual cue that’s confusing you. I’d just go into training mode and look at where the red square is relative to his body. When that crosses over your red square you block holding forward.
Try and get close enough to jump over her fireballs and attack with a regular j+fierce, not a splash. This is the attack I use when closing the distance on her. In case she does a fireball into lightning legs you can hit her cleanly. Most if not all other attacks will not reach, haven’t tested them all though. If you can predict when she will throw her fireball you can green hand into SPD. If you do it on reaction she has time to either lightning legs or attack you with a low kick/sweep. It is quite hard to get in on a really good chun but after you’re in you can mix up safe jumps, baits, into tick throws rinse and repeat :D. Lariating through fireballs usually Chun will try and walk up and low attack also, this is a good time to move backwards a little while the fireball goes through you and as she whiffs her low attack you can do a jump attack into tick rather easily. She won’t have a charge at this point.
Vs Bison
What I did was play with Bison in training and learn his crossup distances to figure out how to block depending on where Bison is standing when he jumps across you. A jumping roundhouse is pretty easy to determine if its behind or in front of you, but a jumping forward SEEMS (not a expert on Bison…) to be able to hit in front or across depending on the timing, not the starting position, of the attack. This makes it hard to avoid :-.
That’s exactly what I was about to say! Lariat OWNS crossups! If it’s not a meaty crossup, Dictator should never be getting away with that. Crouch and then Lariat him out of the air to make sure you’re hitting with the first frame. Now, if it’s a meaty crossup, only a reversal Lariat will do…and we know that’s very tricky to time, but it can be done.
Personally when I am knocked down and getting crossed up I don’t try to reversal lariat, too low return for the very high risk. I just try to block :D. One crossup landing = TOD against good Bison players. Like OJ said, on all other crossups a lariat beats it :D.
