With V-Trigger active (Red Gief) what properties do you have if you, other than V Skill being infinite?
You can combo into drill from every normal except c.lk, f+mk, f+hp and sweep.
I donât know if this is known but you can combo headbutt into headbutt. It has to be counterhit and hit on the last active frame. Pretty cool.

I tried to link c.mp after but itâs too far away. You can do f+hp, f+hp, s.lk xx CA. Or just f+hp, f+hp, CA.
If youâre v-triggered you can do f+hp, f+hp, s.lk xx drill.
has anyone experienced their super throw whiffing weirdly in a match? thereâs a replay where a gief goes for crossup splash, cr.hp, super. the splash and cr.hp connect, and the superâŚseems to whiff? the gief gets grabbed by a normal throw input after the flash. trying to figure out whatâs going on here (if it was rollback weirdness i wouldnât expect it to show up in the replay)
Could be the throw invulnerability after hitstun since c.hp is only +1 on hit itâs pretty easy to mess up. Iâm not 100% sure on the throw invul though but I think itâs 2 frames maybe?
Does anybody have info about the throw invuls like are they the same on normal throws and command throws, after blockstun, hitstun, wakeup?
How do u guys think s.MK is useful or not during footsie war?
This move is a little bit longer than s.MP but slower
It looks like able to avoid lower attack but it actually canât
As this move has a little bit slow start up (9F)
I sometimes use this after my +3 on block c.lp

This sounds stupid but, has anyone tried st.hping through a frame trap/blockstring? Gief gets his armor on frame 3, which is fast enough to activate on a large amount of pressure strings, and as long as itâs not a low, heâll absorb the hit and maybe cc them or at least hit them. If they used a normal that just manages to recover in time then the most they could probly do is block.
Iâm gonna try it out whenever I have time .
Giefâs V reversal can combo into CA
Although it looks cool, but it is not reliable in real war
V reversal often push opponent too far away for comboing into CA :s
May be we can still rely on this tool in some certain situation, but I have no idea on it
For Android (maybe iPhone has it too) I highly suggest getting the V Frames app. It shows all frame data, combos, and videos for all characters. It is my favorite tool to use while playing.
I like s.Mk in the corner for some reason. The range is nice to keep them there for a bit and make them want to jump out. Decent results in footsies too.
I just donât understand some of these online players. You could headbutt them five times in a row and theyâll still try to jump away on the sixth headbutt.
I really hope the S.MK from SF2 would come back but meh

Does anyone else feel like winning with gief is really random? He seems guessier than ever to me. I can completely blow someone up and in the next match get perfected.

lariat suckass in this game
Both c.hp & lariat are 9F startup
But c.hp are much better anti-air comparing with lariat
c.hp do less recovery than lariat (for the case if u wrongly execute the move, guessing wrong and have a wrong reaction to anti-air)
and almost never trade hit during an-ti air,
meanwhile, lariat still often being countered/mashed thus failed to anti air EVEN you have a early execute on ppp
c.hp also has much better follow up than lariat, opponent just standing in front of you after get hit
Forget about lariat, aside from the need of combo.
What is the best pre-hit set up for fixing opponent in block stun before headbutt?
Headbutt has 12F start up which is quite slow
I tried to preform headbutt right after my jabs (for anti-jump purpose);
but I often get jabbed out my headbutt due to slow startup.
Light version hits most farthest with lowest dmg
Heavy version grab closest with highest dmg (220dmg)
Medium version stands in the middle from above properties
Ex version has almost the same grab range as light version, with the medium damage (200)
Regular Air SPD has 3F startup, ex air SPD is slower with 4F startup
I donât know if you guys know this but if you do it far and meaty enough, you can headbutt Bisonâs CA

I was told something weird about giefâs ex spd and Iâm testing it out. Apparently ex spd moves giefs hurt box back a little/alot, enough so that a frame trap like karins cr.mp to st.mp (3 frame gap) whiffs on him and he scoops her.

Did this by accident yesterday but thougth it was because of lag; nice to know itâs legit tech. I think the first hit of Bisonâs CA may be considered a projectile.
