But anti-air s.LP puts your opponent right next to you, and leaves you at a huge frame advantage. You should be able to beat every Nash that spams moonsaults.
I think I have a good idea of how zangief needs to play in this game due to watching snake eyez last night.
Giefâs meaty game in sfv is meant to do the opposite of sf4, this time around we want people to not block and force them to use risky options (reversals). Everyone has noticed how suddenly now that ccâs exist and thereâs no fadc, Noone wants to dp anymore? It has to be forced out of them.
Alot of the gief meaties or reset situations (like AAing with st.lp) leave gief in a situation where as long as he spaces himself correctly (like hitting with the tip of st.hk as a meaty or putting a little bit of distance between himself and the opponent as they air reset from his st.lp) if the opponent does anything besides an invincible move or jump/backdash, theyâll lose to light spd/ex spd. Once they realize that they have to do one of these things, St. Hk/ air spd get to work real quick
As for neutral, besides the intricate things that weâll have to know for each matchup, the GENERAL gameplan when possible isâŚI dunno how to describe, but, gief basically brawls this time around in neutral. Sometimes heâs using v skill to discourage heavy attacks for fear of getting spdâd, the next minute heâs checking lighter buttons with cr.jab (which, alot of the time if youâre jab checking lights/mediums, youâre in position for a light/maybe ex spd afterwards like snake did last night), and then the next minute gief is using mp, fmk, stmk, st.fp , etc to make the opponent want to beat him back with stronger buttons, which leads back into the threat of v skill
I have to disagree. Mika has combos that put Giefs damage to shame. Her footsies arenât as good but from a pure damage viewpoint sheâs superior.
Also, does hit confirming to lariat whiff on crouching opponents or is it about range/me sucking? It seems to whiff constantly when Iâm playing online.
So not liking the way somebody is playing is grounds for a rage quit now? SMH, this rage quitting is going to get a lot worse before it gets better considering people are trying to justify it nowâŚ
Guys, if you time f.hp to hit on its last active frame as a meaty, it becomes +4 on block (FUCK) and +9 on hit. More so, if it lands as a couterhit, it becomes +10 on hit letting you combo into sweep(confirmed a combo by the game when the f.hp is timed correctly)
This really improves the post situation in both cases, since now we have more frames to work with /combo with.
In case of them blocking it, gief can do spd and theyâre only escape will be to jump/backdash or do a move that becomes invincible on frame 1 since thereâs only a 1 frame gap for them to do anything. Otherwise, FREE SCOOP.
In case of a hit without a couterhit state for whatever reason, gief could combo into st.mk and be put at a range where I donât think any jabs will reach him, but he can light/ex spd them, and if they decide to jump/backdash after eating the st.mk, I think st. Hk will still catch them.
It has the same frame data as other spds, but for the most part itâs positioning + damage. Do ex spd > walk > ex spd > whiff cr. Lp > hk to catch backdashes.
I can do the vid, but I donât really have setups for this gimmick yet
F.HP has stupid range tho. I know for a fact that off of EX SPD you can meaty with F.HP, even if they quickrise. Iâm just not sure if youâre close enough for the sweep after.
