Zangief General Thread: Our Russian Skies Are Protected

Nah, this version is too old, they removed it between the Dhalsim and F.A.N.G Build, sadly.
As you can see, his damage is much lower in this build, he deals a ton of dmg now compared to the old build to compensate.

Wish we could’ve played around with comboable ex spd before it was taken away, hopefully they put it back.

For a second I was like, wtf have they done to his damage??? but than I saw the ex-spd combo… phuuu the damage was so low in the older builds.
I prefer high damage over a spd combo.

He has a higher damage potential overall with higher damage values on other attacks and no EXSPD combo.

Can’t wait for the servers to open up and to play Zangief.

no combo into spd got to figure out what can be done so far

crounching mp standing light to larriet looks like the go to combo actually hits pretty far

Wow an actual combo that doesn’t have to be in the opponents hitbox while ending it?

Not being able to anti-air with lariat is gonna take some getting used too

Doesn’t hit crouchers.

crouch lp > stand lk > lariat hits crouchers, though.

Just started the game.

Nerfs I found at the moment:
c.MP,c.MP doesn’t work anymore.
c.MP or any other normal into V-trigger removed, you get the vacuum effect but it doesn’t connect anymore. Why :frowning:

Buffs:
V-trigger causes hit stun so that you can combo it into Critical Art. That’s awesome.

What do you mean? St.HP > V-trigger connects if you hold it.

And, cr.mp > V-tirgger connects after you’re already in V-trigger mode.

Or am I misunderstanding what you mean?

Yeah, that’s new, it worked without V-trigger mode in the last version.

He means you can no longer do stuff like: st.MK xx VTC (instant release) CA and have it combo, the VT vacuum no longer starts up fast enough to combo from mids, only heavies now.

(I only see this post because I thought you may have new info on the character.)

Confirming Zangief’s stun in v1.09 is 1050.

Used: Ryu st.HK x6 (900), then one st.MP (100, 1000 total), and f.MP for the final hit. If first hit connects (+60), stunned (1060 total). If second hit only (+40), no stun.

If you know any other things you can do to reliably get him to 1045-1049 stun to cement this number as legit, share it.

he just means that you can’t c.mp xx v-trigger = v-trigger actually hits, you just pull the enemy to zangief, but the enemy can block.

Ok, I was confused because you said “c.MP or any other normal into V-trigger removed”…but other normals DO combo without V-trigger already being activated.

Wasnt his crouching hp a crush counter before? It doesnt cause a juggle anymore.
