what are these 50% combos off of crush counters he has

Zero combos is a huge exaggeration any way and he still gets news to combo into things like super and air grab that he couldn’t do before. He may not be doing V Trigger Ken worthy combos, but SFIV Gief couldn’t combo into super or air command grab either so there’s new stuff to try. I’m sure VTC cancels will open up new stuff as well.

The difference between theory and actually playing the game allows me to tell you what really happens when people try what you THINK might stop him, also people who mash a button on wakeup get a crush counter st hp > dash > heavy spd which is like 45~50% damage based on your opponent. His heavy spds and heavy running bear grab felt like they were doing 33% damage thats another reason why you don’t need combos. You can’t have a zangief that has all bases covered with no risk, thats just stupid and to suggest him have combos and an insane mixup game is idiotic, like i said before if you want combos go to Mika. Gief has enough combos to make him function but most of his gameplay is around throw mixups.

Is air SPD instant? I dunno about that move. If it’s instant than holy shit. If not, eh. Still requires Yomi to make it work because if you guess wrong you lose that trip guard.

like i said before i used it in real gameplay against high level opponents, it works fine. its 3f for ex i think and 4f for normal and has good reach too actually i did a neutral jump at range and someone jumped toward me and i landed a light air spd like i woulda used a neutral jumping attack

I mean if you’re thinking everyrone is gonna be doing a jump back attack on the way up to counter it, this is the funny thing, the people that did that were getting crush counter st hk from me, into ex air spd. Im not speaking theory fighter, i did this stuff already, also people neutral jumping you can either go air to air spd or do a cr hp to crush counter them outta the air then air ex spd, so they decide whether they want to press a button which opens them up for crush counter juggles. These combos were doing nice solid damage, people press buttons you can just do other combos into grabs. ALSO i did a st hp anti air with armor and it did a landing frame crush counter then i landed a heavy spd.

Yomi is how this character has always been since sf2, in sf4 he was the same, watch snake eyez, and in sfv he is so far based around yomi. If you watch gameplay of high level sf4 giefs, and truly understand whats going on the combos were essentially the alternate mixup to his throws. Crossup splash, either go for command grab or go into low lights into green hand which essentially did around the same damage as a throw. So in this game you do either throw or a crush counter mixup which equates to more damage. People misunderstood his lights combos as how he was played, nah it was just to make people afraid to hit buttons so you can grab them. He has never really been about combos, now if u are talking his punish option selects like st lk into greenhand on whiffed mediums or heavies in 4, you have good normals now so you can just counter poke or get immense crush counter combos. My main in SF4 was and is gief.

Tbh i like 10 times more the idea of an huge grappling tank Gief over 99 Lbitchyslaps into GH Gief

Gief can stay with few 2-3 hits combos

All i ask as trade is being like Vanilla4 Gief,so basically highest

-Hp/stun
-Dmg on throws
-Dmg on M/H normals
-Dmg on CA

Bitchy slaps pussy combos aside that was a scary, imposing Gief.

I can even give away crMP>CA for that

You guys are ridiculous, “HEY he is a grappler, don’t give him combos” how boring is this? grab,jab,grab? R.Mika is also a Full-Grappler character, but she can do combos, I know she is different and that’s a good thing but saying things like “Zangief is a grappler, he can do nothign else, deal with it” is just braindead.
Even Birdie has some nice combos, Why can’t I expect something like a hitconfirm meterless combo ender? I don’t even talk about green hand but they should give him something else if they reall don’t want the hands back, what about his russian kicks? or why removing the ex spd combo? this is so boring, they downgrade Zangief more and more and you guys are like “hey Capcom always do the right thing, lets play sf2 all over again”

They remove his fucking German Suplex, this move was great and much better then the regular SPD, why are they making Geif into a Hugo but without combos? I don’t want fucking 10hit combos with gief, but I want something like J.HP/HK,c.mp,c.mp into lariat/ex spd/russian kicks or whatever, where is the problem? is this really too much? are you guys that fucking basic? NO COMBOS PLEASE! I WANT MIND GAME GRABS AND TANK ENEMY HITS, IM SO COOL, WHAT IS EXECUTION? I PLAY SMASH BROS!
Spamming normals and poking around and use some slow 5f grabs is so boring. “mimimi if you don’t like it play another character” what is this shit talk? I like Zangief and I love his alpha and sf4 play style.

He has a bunch of launchers, 3 in fact all into Air EX Spds.

After light spd a dash brings him to point blank in a very neutral scenario with his opponent if they quick tech allowing more oki

read my previous posts if you want to know more about how gief works, i spent 9 hours playing him at capcom last weekend on the most recent build

hahaha thanks, yeah i main gief in 4 in tournaments and I have nor cals best gief and im sharing HELLA knowledge and half the guys keep asking for stupid shit when no one cares about what we want, when they could be learning about giefs 50% no meter combos i posted, but if its not ‘made for dummies’ they dont want it lol

I don’t know why people are comparing R.Mika and Zangief. She’s a strike grappler who uses mobility tricks and her assist to get in while he’s a true grappler aiming for scoops.

once you see the damage on heavy/ex running bear, youll be like screw the atomic suplex lol, armored version of it is so godlike it just makes people not wanna poke against you and its really fast, literally ill poke at them and when they try to out poke me i toss one of those out absorb their poke and take off 33% of their life

The reason people compare is she has the second best throw reach in the game, try her P command grab, STUPID range, almost as good as giefs light spd
