220 is not ass damage for 1 ex stock. He can combo into it, which means the damage potential is higher. He lost some damage, its use as a defensive option for more offensive options.
Donât you think 220 is ass damage?
You donât need any ex bar for 250dmg in SF4 HSPD
Now even you spend 1 ex bar, it is just for 220 damage
I am not sure how many damage for EXSPD combo
Last but not least, you can not keep pressuring your opponent after SPD,
which means that opponent can free escape from pressure after a low dmg SPD
This also suckass as hell
There are no close/proximity normals in SFV. Everything works like Alpha 3 V ism where everything is either a normal or command normal and can be used from any range.
If youâre talking about his Hugo style knee hop thing, that doesnât hit overhead. He doesnât have any overheads AFAIK.
The more I think about his V Skill and V Trigger, the more it makes sense that he doesnât have bigger range on his SPD. Long ranged SPDs plus potentially infinite armor would be rather nuts and disrespect the neutral too much. Now that Capcom has admitted his V Skill and Trigger were supposed to replace his green hand itâs pretty safe to just to say peace out to green hand and give in to new Gief.
The same thing happened when Killer Instinct came out and Sabrewulf didnât have his bat projectile and Jago didnât have the green laser on his laser sword. Green is cool.
If we are crazy, then you are a bastard asshole.
Dan is interesting to play, but he is the worst character in every series.
Interestingâ His new tools are useful
Gief lose his GH now, which means that he now needs to heavily rely on jumping in opponents in order to get in
Look at his Jumping HP, this is the main jumping attack in SF4 due to its long distance traveled
Now Zangief only use his fucking elbow as JHP which has POOR and TERRIBLE distance
Zangiefâs JHK sucks, it is same as SFIV but no one use JHK in SFIV due to is terrible hurt/hitbox
I watched Combofiend play him and I thought the exact opposite of what you think, it looks like he will slowly push you into the corner and then kill you. I think a lot of the problems come from the fact that this is not SF4 Gief, heâs very different and sometimes itâs hard for people to get their head around how all the tools come together without someone showing exactly how it all works.
This is not SF4 so donât worry that it doesnât do the exact same damage. SPD seems to leave you close enough from what Iâve seen. From half screen you now have a vacuum tool that sucks standing opponents into your range and (according to UltraDavid) also keeps them in the state they were in when you initially sucked them in (ie if you were in the recovery frames of whiffing a move when you got sucked in, then youâre still in the recovery frames after you get close) and is safe if they were blocking when you sucked them in.
The game-plan might be slightly different but the objective is the same.
Gief has now changed his style to a more defensive character instead of aggressive character in SFIV
One thing not changed, he is still in a big trouble vs fireball character before he gain his first v-skill bar
He often lose tons of health before he gain the first ex bar in SFIV when vs fireball character
Walking your opponent into the corner and killing them isnât defensive.
You have your v skill to absorb projectiles. Patience is the name of the game with Gief. You will get your damage. Again, please stop making assumptions about this Gief based on what happened to you in SF4. Theyâre different, so it makes sense that the matches would play out differently too. Also, please note that fireballs are not as strong in this game as they have been in past Games.
There is also the fact that the character is very likely incomplete with balance changes coming, but at this stage, we might as well be shouting at a wall.
The Nash is really bad and I canât see any impressive stuff from Combofiend, I see guessing game, sweep, sweep, lariat, sweep, sweep, grab.
>Nash is stunned
>a little bear grab punish. thatâs it?
With Ryu alone I can deal about 45-70% dmg after stun depends on situation in the current build.
Zangief is a joke in this game and everyone of you will see that unless they change him at release.
âbut Zangief is a grappler, he is supposed to grab and nothing elseâ
ok if this is your logic:
Ryu is a shoto he is supposed to shoot fireballs 99sec over the screen, remove his combos.
Dhalsim is a zooner, please donât give him 1single short range normal and no combos.
Oh and BTW, if you guys didnât realized, 80% of the character has a command grab in this game and they all have still some nice combo potential.
>Zangief has interesting tools
I wanna puke all over your faces when I read this shit.
I bet you guys think that Dan and Deejay are also strong characters in SF4 because they have âinteresting toolsâ
SFV Gief already looks much better and more imposing than SFIV Dee Jay or Dan. I donât think there will be anyone as weak as those characters in V. Everyone seems like they have the tools to be a threat in tournaments.
You can always pick one of the other grapples if its looking that bad for you. I just wonât be surprised if youâre running to him as soon as Snake Eyes or someone else makes him look strong because you love a strong Gief etc.
