Yeah about that noob audience…Capcom is notorious for nerfing “OP” characters who are “scrub killers” who are not even top tier and drop lower down in the tier list because of that. Maybe they cut out the middleman. :o

Vs Birdie … i feel like OS standing mp, headbutt crouch mp (aa), and chain grab punish for whiffed punish and hard reads and Overhead HK (2hit). Will be more than enough against Gief.

Heavy SPD deals a lot of damage (Laura has 3 points of health, as much as Ryu)
You can combo into Ex SPD from a jumping Heavy (Kick, Body Press)
Forward Fierce (Headbutt) ~ Standing Strong works without counter hit. I think he said that we can combo into Ex Spd from the strong.

Assuming jump hk = 100
Cr. mp = 60
Life = 1000

Ex spd = (250 - (100 + (60*.9))) *100/80
Ex spd = 120

Ex spd seems really low, did he make a mistake, abd probably meant 1/3.

Ex spd = (333 - (100 + (60*9))) * 100/80
Ex spd = 223.75

I doubt its that, but 200 seems more of a better dmg value for his exspd.

So 100+54+160 = 314. Which seems, like a good number for a typical jump in combo.

I wonder if: jump hk, cr. mp, cr. mp xx ex spd is possible

100 * 54 * 48 * 140 = 342

Note: intentionally being low on jump hk and cr. mp

If he literally means a 1/4 life, Gief has some pedestrian dmg for punishes. I would have liked to know the stun value, cause maybe thats where he makes up for it.

Heavy SPD damage was roughly 22-25% of the lifebar.

This confirms what gwolfe said about small combos from Gief hurting pretty hard.

and this is pre-beta 1 footage, so stop with this “it’s too early too see if Zangief is blabla” The new Birdie is even stronger btw.

Uh…you do realize that Birdie doesn’t do that kind of damage anymore, right? His damage and combos got changed. The fact that the characters go through varying changes from version to version should make you hopeful that Gief will get some loving in the future.

It’s weird to me that people feel qualified enough to judge how Gief matches up to the rest of the cast before we’ve seen the entire cast and months before the game comes out. I’m not saying be silent, by all means voice your opinion but at the same time, you talk like you KNOW he is a little baby and then you use an outdated video which has combos that don’t work anymore and damage that isn’t in this game as your evidence.

We’re so fast to grab the pitchforks and start screaming it’s the end of the world but maybe we should relax on that a little bit or at least until we get a bit more time with him and the rest of the cast in the next beta.

Plus no one is factoring in the new stun system either. You don’t have to do big damage to kill people quickly anymore. Just keep forcing hits out of people with heavy stun moves (I believe heavy normals for sure do more stun than they did in IV) and if you keep the pressure up they’re looking at a stun. Stun doesn’t scale as bad as it does in SFIV either. You can’t just walk away for 5 seconds and throw your stun back to 0 anymore. You can get hit, take a break, get hit again and still see your stun bar at 2/3’s stun or more. The stun bar is going to make people panic as time goes on. Forcing them to blow V Reversals which kills their ability to augment their momentum with V Trigger.

SFV does not have the system in place that made Gief good in A3. V-ism saved his ass in that game along with trickery bullshit.

SFIV it did 250 damge, but now only do about 220 damage
While is have worse grab range than before

On the other side, gief’s close SHP looks like a overhead, is it?
