Here’s a bit of shenanigans that I discovered: after jab SPD knockdown, most Guiles will backdash on wakeup to ‘safe mode’. You can catch them off guard by immediately dashing forward twice and jab SPD again. You’d be surprised how many times this works.
I actually do this two times in ft2 set, tried more than once in a match and most of the time the opponent will catch on and bop you.
From max range in poke wars when you hit st mp all giefs should train themselves to always do cr jab afterwards. it always combos even from max range. It’s not much damage but it is free damage with no risk so there’s no reason not to do it. When you are closer you can combo to lariat be careful on the range.
So you can outplay Birdie or knock him down and then you slip on the banana and he wakes up before you and can land a massive combo or ca for the win off the fucking banana. Someone please tell me how this bullshit is fair. What a freaking joke, I hate this game!

Ok Birdie gief has been covered before but I’ll do it again.
If you see Birdie throw banana the start up is 50 frames you can empty jump land on banana blocking and it will go away. If he throws it from to far away just sit there and block until it disappears, it’s not like he has a fireball that can chip you to death. If he throws it in sweep distance st hk his ass.
All his buttons are negitive from distance. And up close you are much better. The match up is annoying but it is manageable.
Filldoh has it right. Please note that once the banana and can nonsense is stopped, this match is much easier. Don’t let him litter. If the banana was removed from the game the match would either be even or advantage Gief, so take that away from him. Stay in his ass and don’t let him throw it down again. Birdie is truly dead once you get him in the corner.
Birdie’s stMP is +1 on block now
His stHP covers alot of range that zangief can’t reach and can be really good deterrent to gief
It’s like chuns stHP but covers more ground and good against giefs slow walkspeed and normals
Same with stMK which gief has no fast normals to retaliate

Once birdie is put in the corner it’s almost checkmate
Don’t whiff any buttons because that will really really set you back once you get hit 5 character spaces away with stMP > bullhead

Also I forgot one thing. You can walk almost all the way to it and then crouch block. Cr block widens your hit box so that is another way to get rid of it.
It’s true. If you want to nerf the banana then we should nerf the things about Gief that everyone on the other character forums complain about too. So let’s take away Gief’s crouching lp and half the damage for all of his SPDs while we are at it.

Sure would be nice to either have a kick lariat or a green hand to get past bananas, but whatevs, gief is top tier now, ask all the people who don’t play him. All hail the “year of gief.”

If you jump in on a Ryu or Akuma, and they activate their v trigger while you are midair, churn lp spd. You can actually spd them out of their follow up shoryuken.
I didn’t make that clear enough it looks like. I don’t mean that Capcom should remove the banana from the game, I mean that as Gief you have to remove the banana from the match and make it a nonfactor. Make it so that he can’t throw them down, because once he does the matchup is greatly in his favor.
