It doesn’t work off SPDs. Not enough advantage to dash up headbutt, and if you do walk up headbutt, you’re not close enough for lariat to connect off cr.MK. Right now it looks it should work off of:
back throw
close AA jab/cr.HP
in the corner off of:
— close/CH sweep
— lariat combo (which means this setup loops into itself)
— RBG (siberian express)
People press buttons on wakeup sometimes lol. In all the situations I listed above, you can do meaty headbutt and potentially get that 254 damage. The beauty of it though, is that it’s visually VERY easy to tell if it’s CH or not, so even if you don’t get the CH, you can still combo into st.LK xx lariat for 200 damage.
i like the lariat changes…i wish it still didn’t wiff so much though… at a certain range people cant throw fireballs either so it really helps him in match ups like urien and guile. Chun match up still a pain in the ass though.
i am confused what you mean too fast for your reactions? just slide s lk, All 3Punches from a range where it wont hit unless they throw out a button. if they dont hit a button all that comes out is Slk if they hit a button that beats yours you just take a poke, if they hit something that Slk beats lariat comes out automatically. it is the same as Slk GH in 4 the only difference is you are not buffering 623 on the stick. this is just plinking two buttons no reactions needed.
Seems like that 7 to 6 frame cr. mp buff was acually kinda helpful. Don’t know if anyone else discovered this, but due to the lariat and cr.mp buff, we now have a frame trap combo from cr.lp to cr.mp-st.lk-double lariet from point blank.
Fuck Combofiend
This retard always think Gief is top/SSS tier.
While Gief actually being as a SANDBAG is almost each version of SF.
Especially in SFV.
Gief has no good matchup but only 1 fair matchup (mirror match).
While tons of impossible matchup available in each series of SF (Ryu, Guile, Nash, Dhalism…)
I have no fucking idea what combofiend thinking but just want to fuck him
Please try your best to punish jump in opponent by HP AirSPD.
The reward is really huge, 220dmg for a jump in punishment, plus additional +2 front dash mixup city.
Comparing with EX AirSPD (4F Startup), Regular AirSPD(3F startup) is harder to be stuffed by jump in attacks due to faster startup. HP AirSPD also do 20 more damage than EX one.
I’m still enjoying playing Zangief as I always have.
I won’t lie, I’ve been struggling horrendously against the new and improved Urien (And good lord are there a lot of them online!) but I’m starting to feel more comfortable against him now, with Cr.MP being quite useful at stuffing his more irritating normals and V-Skill teaching them not to EX Headbutt on wakeup or they get an ever so lovely SPD.
How’re you all faring against Urien currently? Do any of you have any tips to share in regards to this matchup at all? I’m always looking for tips!
