Whats the secret to the new lariat antiair? I see more people antiairing with it now but Im still having trouble. Is there some new timing to it compared to 4 or is it characters specific or both?
In 4, you HAD to lariat late. Exact opposite in V. I think thatās why a lot of SF4 Giefs have had trouble with it; takes time to break that muscle memory. I still prefer st.LP and cr.HP tho since they give you a reset.
Yeah, max s.lk range isnāt where you want to do Running Bear Grab since Zangief needs to run forward at that distance.
It works best at ranges where the c.lp > s.lk > lariat hit-confirm will connect against the opponent; think after landing ex spd/ex borscht > forward dash.
Thanks to that video i noticed that if you hold forward after v trigger activation you can combo stuff into it. This only works with max range st hp. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L7_cbOraOOw
Urien is very difficult to approach as Gief. Really good fireballs and pokes that can be cancelled into reflector. Still trying to figure out the best way to deal with him
Like every other character that has good zoning capability, your only real option seems to be walking them into the corner. Only issue I have with Urien is that I focus so much on his fireball and mk buttons I get dash grabbed a lot.
So Iāve been using a hell of a lot of Zangief lately and this is all just by-the-eye, I havenāt looked into any frame data yet to be honest. After H.SPD, youāre able to do dash > H.SPD or dash > cr.lp as a mix-up chain correct? You can also do dash > EX Borchst or dash > dash > M.SPD to chase backdashes and jumps, but it seems to me that there are characters who can escape the chasedown of dash > dash > M.SPD because their backdashes are insanely good.
The two Iāve noticed are Vega and Nash respectively, is it not possible to catch their backdash? I use dash > st.hk to catch Nash backdashes now.
Dash > st.hk if you guess back-dash, Dash > jump forward and react with borscht if you guess jump. Double dashing to chase back dashes or jumps isnāt great.
Personally, Iām waiting for the first balance patch. Depending on what direction that goes in, I may get back into it.
Right now, there are too many other title releases to look forward to.
