This wouldnât fix his major issues he would still lose bad to chun, sim and Nash. He needs better frames on normals, invincible lariat, and better walkspeed.
The problem will become give him enough to beat these three and droves of people will bitch because he can dominate everyone else. It is a delicate issue in some regards but I think we can come up with a simple, list.
I will say this I hope they can give him faster recovery on his lariat.
Made it to gold league. Man from 3600 to 4000 was an epic pain in the ass. Went from 2200 to 4005 in one day or about 6 hours of grinding. I feel great making it there legit without rage quitting.

He just spamming light version fireball, and S.LK anti-air
It is EXTREMELY HARD to getting in,
The flying speed of light version fireball is too slow to jump.
If you jump early right on the time she throw out the fireball (in case the timing your jumping attack can hit her and she can not block), you will land on the fireball, and than eat an additional EX QCF KK combo.
If you jump lately, you will be anti-aired with S.LK for sure
It is totally meaningless to headbutt her fireball if she has enough patience .
Guy I was extremely frustrated was I lose about 10 games in a row to such simply strategy

Zangiefâs banishing flat would remove all he weaknesses and would make him decent again.
Obviously this is the case. The reality is nobody really minds Gief being bad, but everyone in bronze would freak out if he was good. Luckily it wouldnât take much to make him good, and he is the most likely character to get buffed.
Iâm personally in the camp that he needs health more than anything. Snake eyez wins half of his matches by time over, but thatâs not a viable strategy when you have average health and average damage.
A lot of the proposed changes want to make him a completely different character. Heâs not a vortex character. Make lariat, bear grab, and v trigger work as intended. Itâs infuriating when you make the right read with bear grab and they can jump out. If they donât want to make lariat a consistent combo ender for some reason, perhaps make an ex lariat. V trigger is just a fucking mess. Itâs the only v trigger that you have to struggle to use safely. I could write another wall of text just able this move. Weâll just say it doesnât work right now.
give him 50 more health. Thats 20 more sonic booms you can block per round. Youâre gonna have a lot of matches where thereâs 10 seconds left and Nash has to do something desperate to hit you. Thatâs a solid mid tier Gief.
it is hard i have played the same type of players. War of attrition, walk forward blocking and vskill(sparingly) fireballs. When you get in range for St HK use that to stuff her startup. after you do this once or twice a good chun will use bHP to beat your St HK if you bait that you can walk slightly forward and lpspd.
This is still heavily in her favor but you can beat her using simple tactics like this to combat hers. it just keeps the matchup from being a 8-2
more health wont help in the long run. the problem is the more sonic booms you block the more meter he builds and once he gets CA this matchup becomes a 9-1
I dont want him to be a different character i want a grappler that loses to zoners but can still compete with them. But when he gets in close dominates!
here were my proposed changes and why i think they would fix matchups
Buff walkspeed to Laura level(this lets him play footsies with characters like Karin, Birdie and Chun, he can still be zoned but runaway is less viable.)
Cr mp and st mk 6 frames(these attacks are just not very good, Cr MP is too short ranged to be 7 frames and this would allow them to be used more in footsie battles, plus counterhit cr jab, cr mp, st lk, lariat would combo
All feirce attacks 9 frames(lets him compete with the rest of the cast on normals. also lessens the effectiveness of backdash)
Extend and lower lariat hit box(just lets him consistantly combo)
Lariat hit invincible startup for 6 frames.( this helps mostly with dalsim and chun. it will still be punishable on block and hell to compensate let someone crush counter if they block it like any other uppercut.)
Combo exspd(needs a combo ender for damage to make his normals threaten.)
Vskill does half white life it does now.(makes this move useable, as of now he is punished too hard for using his vskill, no other character has this issue)
Vtrigger anti airs.(just lets you safely activate his vtrigger, right now people can jump after the super freeze for full combo, that is stupid)
with these changes i think the matchups would look like this
Birdie 5-5
Cammy 5-5 unchaged
Nash 4-6 still one of his worst matchups just no longer free!
Chun 4-6 still tough but better
Sim 5-5 lariat limbs would help but if he baited it he gets rewarded
Fang 5-5 unchanged
karin 5-5 better walkspeed and better normals would make this matchup even
Ken 5-5 unchanged
Laura 6-4 this is the one area where i think these buffs would would make him beat another character handily.
Bison 5-5 much better
Necalli 5-5 unchanged
R Mika 5-5 Unchanged
Rashid 5-5 unchanged
Ryu 6-4 faster walkspeed would hurt ryus spacing gameplan
Vega 5-5 better as this would now become a true footsie war
Alex 5-5 unchanged
2 bar vtrigger would be awesome but that would really surprise me. he gets a 400 damage combo off of it and having two to three of those a round would be insane. It would be a shitload of fun though.
Exspd buff is fair.
