So Intel is evidently woefully unable to get vendors the Q9450, so I had them put in a Q6600 for now (they’ll swap it out for me when the Q9450 arrives) and that seems to be working fine and I’m able to capture AND do something else at the same time (AFAICT), which means it’ll be that much faster to encode (since I can encode while I’m doing other stuff, like working remotely or whatever). I’m capturing FRXI tape 1 right now (2-5 and 11 were already captured on the other PC) and will see how it goes. :tup:
Non-video related question but im upgrading my cpu cause im still wit a p4 3.2 ghz and i was wondering what you think about the core 2 duo E8400 3.0 ghz. Is there something better in the same price range?

I strongly prefer WMVs - everybody can play those. Beyond that, I don’t care. If it’s AVI, PLEASE put the video codec used in the filename.

MPEG1 sucks, but it’s generally livable. If it’s MPEG2, I’ll reencode it to something else. If it’s MPEG3, you’re lying. MPEG4 is still a PITA for most people to play back.
So: MPEG1? Sure, but that’s piggy as all hell and a really bad choice, generally speaking.

(For those curious, the old 250GB HD is the home of everything on the machine EXCEPT for the main web site. zachd.com is run off the new 750GB HD. So zachd.com/magnetro and nki and everything else gets the old hard drive to play with. Woot. Win-win all around.)
