i found out that morrigan can use astral vision+soul drain after dante’s million dollars in the corner. just use AV before the last hit of dante’s hyper. i wanted to add that to the thread, but it seemed pretty dead.

How many hours of practice does it take to get the hang of soul fist flight cancel combos? I’ve been playing Morrigan forever and I still can’t do them!

i guess it slightly depends on which one you’re trying to do. it took me about maybe a week to consistently land my first soul fist combo. now i can pretty much do it without looking lol. i remember the problem i had was i was canceling the fireball too soon, before it came out as a matter of fact lol. the one we were talking about earlier is even harder because there’s so many cancels in the combo.

Thats the problem. doing this for a ground string is alot harder to do because it pushes you away from the opponent.

Which of them do you try? I find the L M 6H j.H SF xx FLY dash j.M j.H SF xx unfly the most solid (solidest?)
Anyway, are you practicing it daily? When I practice new (hard) combo I usually don’t land it once fully on the first day (Even after 2-3 hours of training) but as I keep going to the lab each day I get it more and more, until one day I actually complete the combo more then I don’t, after that it a short road to do it in about 90% rate.

I’m by all mean no a technical player, but I do play Danta, Strange and Morrigan (not in the same team…) so it should be possible for anyone to master those combos. (I actually consider Morrigan the easiest of the three)

It took me personally 4 months to get to 90% with (opener) c.M c.H 6h, j.M j.M j.H xx H Soul Fist xx Flight, dash forward, j.H, j.S c.H, S, (air combo ender), and that’s extremely simple. I’m like 40% completion rate on (ground combo) 6H, j.MMH xx H Soul Fist xx flight, dash down, j.H xx H Soul Fist xx unfly, S (air combo ender) after about 2 months. Daily practice does help, but some of us just suck horribly at combos.

Maybe it just amount of time, I’ve played competitive FG for a while now and have touched Guilty, Blazblue and such games that require some execution for those longer combos, so it might be it.

they’re very picky combos

There is a lot of nuances in the morrigan combos. They’re unique and incredibly picky. The fireballs have to be canceled perfectly. The flight modes have to be canceled perfectly as well as the air dashes too. If you don’t cancel the air dashes properly you end up flying behind and underneath the opponent. There is just a shit load of places you have to input perfectly to get a basic bnb and it makes them very easy to drop.

its just daily practice to get that shit down. The combo is really all feeling. I suggest just grinding on the combo non stop for a week. It really will help. I grind on her combos daily just so I can stay sharp on them. They’re really funky ass combos and take some technical work. You really do have to know every single nuance with her to understand how to not drop the combo or readjust the combo to save it on the fly

morrigan needs both the fwd+h loop as well as the S, sj.H, SF, air to ground combo. They both have a specific places in her game plan. Even her L srk combo starter has uses so you need to know that series as well.

Naa, Morrigan’s combos ain’t that technical, she is not Mag or Dante

Playing Morrigan requires far more execution and precision than you need for Dante. The only ‘hard’ thing you need to do to play Dante is bold-cancel, which becomes natural once you get it down. His movement is simple, and his fancy, long combos aren’t hard at all; you’re pretty much just linking special moves one after another, and you’ve got a very lenient window to do it all.

Morrigan’s combos require so many movements and button presses just to get a respectable amount of damage, and then you factor in her fireball/fly game and her wonky-ass dashes… yeah, Morrigan can get pretty damn technical. And unlike a lot of other characters, you’re not gonna be able to derp your way to victory with minimal effort. Not against someone who knows what they’re doing, at least.

even if dante WAS hard. at least its easy to open people up with him.

call horizontal assist, teleport, air dash H back to the original side.

Morrigan takes work to get damage and to open people up.

What are you guys doing off an air to air hit from like j.L, j.M, or j.H at normal jump and super jump height midscreen or in the corner?

for the most part, anything you can do to combo into down ward air dash S should be enough to stair case them back down to the ground, at which point you can land and combo them back into a launch to normalize your combo.
