You've Been Naughty: Official UMvC3 Morrigan Combo Thread

JJJ are you gonna be attending any tournaments soon? I learnt alot from watching your matches on the STLbarwarz stream but you dont seem to have entered any streamed/recorded tournaments for a while.

you guys actually watch our stream?? we got like no viewers…lol well, the stream/tourney is on monday nights, and I have stuff to do nowdays, so… can’t promise you anything… :stuck_out_tongue: but we’ll have a new monthly on the weekend starting next year, so you might see me there if there is a stream~

What the fuuuuuuu, I didn’t know you guys had a stream! I hardly watch streams anymore because the only notable Morrigan I know on streams is ChrisG, and his Morrigan is so boring to watch. I’ll be on the lookout on STLbarwarz to see if you’re ever playing.

I watch just to see you play. Totally honest, I find your Morrigan to be inspiring.

lol… thanx~

chris g steals jjj morrigan combos. i bet if jjj was to hop on stream again, chris g would jack his new stuff too. LOLOLOL. but props to chris g for having a godlike morrigan/doom.

Well, we wouldn’t want community members learning things from each other, now would we?

Im new to morrigan and need help completing her regular bnb combo.
After the second soul fist i seem to push the opponent too far back and when i land they’re already landing on the ground.
what am i doing wrong?

Hmmm, are you using the right Soul Fist? L version hits them more horizontally, M version does the same except they fall faster, and H version hits them up more vertically than horizontally.

Found an alternate higher damage, more hit stun scaling resistant, and easier set up for the infinite:

(whatever ground hit confirm into) S, 19, C xx 236B xx 214S, 2A+B, C xx 236C xx 214S, 9, C xx 236B xx 214S 2A+B, C xx 236B xx 214S, (land 623B xx 214S, S) xN

If you start from a super optimal hit confirm you do 540K at the first DP, takes less reps of the infinite to kill that way.

I have no idea why this never occurred to me before today, but you can replace 6H in almost every instance with Shadow Blade L xx flight, Soul Fist H xx unfly for more damage and meter. I am having problems looping :dp::l: xx :qcb::s: :qcf::h: xx :qcb::s: j.:m::h:(delay):s: though I think it should work. Any c.:m::h::f::h: string can be converted into c.:m::h::dp::l: xx :qcb::s:, :qcf::h: xx :qcb::s: though.

I don’t think you get more damage than just doing the f.H j.MMH Soul Fist H/L ADD Soul Fist H/L x2 loop though, because of hitstun. I’ll have to give it another shot. I’ve been doing Shadowblade L xx Fly xx j.H Soul Fist H xx unfly Soul Fist H xx Fly xx Soul Fist H xx unfly etc. etc. in the corner though.

I’ve never once been able to hit both reps of the 6H Soul Fist loop. If, and it’s a big if, I even get the jump MMH to hit after the second soul fist, I always miss the third. Shadow Blade L, Soul Fist H does not really take significantly longer than 6H though, and the combo was never pushing the limits of hitstun decay, so the entire ting should still hit, albeit with potentially different timing.

It’s fairly significantly more damage if you leave the second set of soul fists and dashes off and just launch. Also, off any overhead you can simply skip the c.MH and go straight to the shadow blade anyway, which should be optimal damage off a j.H.

Oh, and I find just doing Shadow Blade L xx fly Soul Fist H to be easier and more reliable than Shadow Blade L xx fly j.H xx Soul Fist H. There’s really no reason to hit that j.H at all.

Isnt Shadowblade L’s hitbox smaller than 6H? i thought it would whiff in some cases, which is why i dont tend to do that.

Is there any Jam Session/Vajra extensions for Morrigan?

In the corner at the end of your bnb: s.S(call vajra), j.H, dp L, qcb S, ADD, ADB, j.S, qcf S, shadow servant.

Chrisis had some, I can’t remember where he posted them though.

How do you guys go about avoiding accidently using Darkness Illusion when trying to fly ADDF? And how come j.MMH SF fly ADDF j.H SF will hit at some times but not others? How do you space it right?

I put the stick to neutral for a split-second before I ADDF, and for spacing the combo, try using different SFs. L will push the opponent father away from you and lower, H will push the opponent higher but closer to you.

In the corner I do the jump combo twice, first with both SF H and then with both SF L. Anywhere else, its SF H into SF L, but I do a small delay before the ADDF to make sure I don’t cross down the other guy.

Not getting Darkness Illusion is basically cleaning inputs in training mode.
