You've Been Naughty: Official UMvC3 Morrigan Combo Thread

I think I got it. L,M,H,S, j.HxxH Soul FistxxFly, ADD, j.HxxH Soul FistxxUnfly, (land) j.MMHxxM Soul FistxxFly, ADD j.HxxM Soul FistxxUnfly, (land) M ShadowbladexxFly, j.S. 435K before loops, which I haven’t gotten down yet. I’ll keep grinding it out to see if I can get this down, and in the meantime if anyone can tweak it, have at it!

I’m trying for an optimal starter, and then I’ll see if I can find any corner carries. Let’s get this thing nailed down!

What if you ended with a hyper?

Ive played Morrigan since day 1 of vanilla, i believed she was a solid mid tier then. Then even with the airdash nerf I could tell that she got better in ultimate, but I still told people she was barely high tier. and then chris g started going ham on people, and I still maintained that she wasnt close to top tier.

But if this kind of tech gets normalized and weaponized… well wtf. this chick is the best.

Honestly… I’m not sure if this really changes much. Having an infinite did nothing for chun li back when having an infinite was special. Having an infinite has not boosted skrull up at all. Having an infinite does nothing to help in her bad matchups. Top level morrigans like chris g already kill you in one touch via spiral sword dhc or TAC to doom. It doesn’t really change her anchor game either because she can already break 1.2m with 1 bar in XF3. I think this makes her more versatile instead of stronger if that makes any sense. She will no longer be dependant on vergil and TACs for TOD damage if you master this which would allow more teams to work well. So stuff like morrigan/dante or morrigan/wesker could be getting better.

o_O I did this before a while back in practice mode…I didnt think it was an infinite though wow. So i guess i could combo with mags, hyper grab, raw tag morri and start up this infinite. Thanks chrisis :slight_smile:

With optimal starter and missiles to double shadow blade finish likely would have killed Task master.*

Hyper grav takes away launch install, you need to launch install them again with Morrigan, you probably can do something like use disruptor to prevent the launch and immediately TK a 623B to go into the loop though.

Damn people who are saying things aren’t infinites because they don’t understand how move properties work. X_X

Yea i have a few ideas in mind on how to make the hyper grab tag combo work. Im just surprised on how u figured out it was an infinite, i remember just thinking it was like her version of Mags Emp loop lol

Yeah, hit stun scaling free version, if only I could get it more consistently. >.<

Chun-li had a TAC infinite back when it was special.

Sooo, in other words…She got stronger lol. In Skrull’s case the infinite is marginally more annoying to complete, but does add more meter and damage to his game **IF **you can pull it off. In Chun’s case it does add to her as well, but the requirements for it are not to be desired(let alone having to play Chun is not really desired either). And while it may not change Morrigan’s anchor game, (which will probably never change because any anchor character with XF3 is dumb), her point game gets a boost because of the meter gain and damage generated which in turn means that players like Chris G can spend less resources when needed to kill allowing for more meter to use for whatever.

Not to mention this hasn’t been tested with Astral Vision which means, if my theory-land self permits, doubles the damage making her even scarier(epecially since, and I’m pretty sure this is true, she’s the only one with an install hyper next to Firebrand that continues to build meter while in that state). Granted, I understand what you mean by being more versatile, but because she’s more versatile that means she’s more well rounded/stronger.

It means that MorriDoom got stronger in the corner now since you now have more options. Even if you do end up DHCg to Doom, you still need less meter since you most likely wont have to end his corner loop with a level 3 now at this point . However, the biggest advantage is psychological, since your opponent knows now that you have more options in the corner, something which will change the way they play.

So my ps3 wont read my Marvel disc :frowning: but at the top of my head i can sorta remember the combo i was working on.
Its an Astral Vision combo, add j.H, st.M, f+M, qcf+S, Fly, UnFly j.S (1hit or 2 in AV lol), st.M, f+M, qcf+S, Fly, j.S, and then…i dont remember LOL. But Im pretty sure you can do a normal st.S combo afterward and if you have doom missiles you can get another Soul Drain for about 6 in a combo. Hopefully this weekend i can play Marvel at a friends house and refresh myself on the exact combo i had down…Too much shitty ttt2 >:(

  1. Alpha Counters with startup invincibility.
  2. Raw tag into Ice Storm
  3. Neutral wakeup to mess with Ice Storm timing.
  4. Sometimes, XFCing Ice Storm’s blockstun to get a happy birthday on Morrigan/Felicia.

Few things wrong

  1. Mostly the only option you have.
  2. Even if you get a chance to raw tag from a hard knockdown and tech roll the result is a dead character that comes in.
  3. Neutral,Forward or Back tech roll after the hard knockdown wont mess up Ice Storms timing.
  4. Even if you get the chance to XF while in the block stun of Ice Storm you still cant move you just negate chip and your still open for the unblockable

Also, you can just Emergency Combination xx DHC since that kills off the ice storm and normally will also give you frame advantage if done correctly.

Is accustomed to playing top tiers and having ways out of BS

  1. How is the end result a dead character? You have to eat Ice Storm and a highly damage decayed Morrigan combo for maybe another 100K damage.
  2. Neutral tech could give you a few more frames to recover and do something. Some characters also have those invincible wakeup hypers to help with (or to punch out Ice Storm with).
  3. I think this point is arguable. Watching the JJJ video, it looks like there may be a brief moment where the unblockable could be stopped.

eh… somebody asked me to come here to comment on a few things… and I saw those 4 “options” listed above. so…

  1. is ok, but it’s also not hard to bait alpha counters.

  2. after raw tag, ice storm + AV combo does ~650K before I tac to storm (or do a tac reset), and after the tac combo, I build back more than 2 meters to ice storm dhc to missiles and it kills anyone with 1 million hp or I just do the unblockable setup again. I guess you can keep raw tagging until you guess right on tac. but if you guess wrong twice, then your whole team is pretty much gone…lol I wouldn’t call it an answer though.

  3. you need an invincible move to be able to do something since you can’t jump on neutral wakeup.

  4. you need an invincible move after x-factor… :stuck_out_tongue: and there is no gap between the end of ice storm and the unblockable if I do it right. that video posted above is like 8 months old…lol
