a person is never too old to play. I am 27,mother of 2 kids. I have 5 game systems,a new comp and my kids play games,I teach them how to and I still play games a ton. My son thinks its real cool his mom plays games. Even my parents will play games.
even being called"old ass woman or old female player" in the arcade does not stop me from playing.

Why do people say that when your an adult your to old to play games, yet you still see people watching TV and no one says anything about that? Or what about sports? Or anything else for that matter?
I remember I went to the Arcade once and I saw some guy atleast in his 40s-50s because he already had grey hair, but he was playing Initial D. Damn, that guy was kicking some serious ass. There were people getting in line just to play him, crazy shit.
Because those things are “normal”. The mainstream is so retarded.
But its considered ok to go home and play Madden or GTA or Halo or Killzone etc etc.
Tell them they’re retarded… Seriously. Show them the hypocrisy. Talk to them about it… If anything, just get them THINKING about the matter. If you can show them that they might be able to actually reason with you, they might actually get involved mentally and realize that videa games REALLY DO exist outside of nintendo, and are not going to go away.
Once I told my mom “You’re not educated whatsoever on the medium, genre, or peoples involved. You’re not involved in it, and know absolutly nothing about it. Stop making up bullshit and lies based on nothing but stubborn prejudices”. She tried to think of a response, but couldn’t…
Or I’ll tell her “So is it childish for you to play those video games at the bars and clubs that take all your money away??? The ones you statistically cannot win at? My games at least carry some benefits in social/physical/and mental respects… your games ruin people’s lives. Don’t talk to me about something you have no idea about.”
Now she just hates games because of spite… but she’ll never give me shit about them anymore.

It must be a tough one for parents because they (we) like to think they (we) know best. I suppose Video Games are one thing that they have very little knowledge on because they were so rare when they were growing up.
yeah but sometimes i get the feeling its because you get a lot of bollocks on the news like, “Gamer kills someone after playing…” and they think that its a fact that games lead to violent acts. ironic that i’m old enough to play whatever legally, yet my parents seem to think i’ll get brainwashed or something… I’M 19 FOR FUCKS SAKE! but i still play a lot of everything from fighters to rpgs and could care less what others say. it’s also cool to hear about parents that play games. keep it up!
I kinda get the opposite when I play. Older guys play against me in MvC2 and when they lose, they’re all “I’m too old for this”, when they all look about the same age as me (23).

My son will watch me play RE4,Halo 2,and others. The only games that are restricted are the real gory ones. Older players should teach the younger generation to respect others and teach them that what they are playing is just a game and to never copy what is in the game.

People are only called too old because there are not many generations fo gamers around. It’s not like video games have been around for hundreds of years. As video games grow and become more and more mainstream, the average age of gamers will continue to increase. Even girls are into it now. I heard some girls at school talking(not misfits either) about waiting in line all night to get halo 2. These are college girls too. So fuck those who say anything about being too old.
BTW My mom had lyroscoptic surgery about a year ago. She spoke with the surgeon, who was also a teacher of the procedure. She asked how people prepare for that kind of thing and how he taught it and all. He said he told his students to play video games, especially those that required complex reflex actions and concentration. Such as fighting, platform, and racing. It helps with the control of remotes for the surgery.
