Your thoughts on Omega SFIV? LOL

How is the point I’m making anywhere near as ridiculous as the analogy you just made? Seriously, once you explain this to me I will be happy to retort with a statement of my own.

They have relevance to me, the 4 people that agreed with me, and most likely many others on this forum, so yes they do have relevance. They may not be relevant to you, but that is your opinion. I am free to express mine as well.

Yes, and I bet 90% of those people are the casuals who pick up the game for a week and then drop it for fps #2197652. While this decision may have been the best financially (they are a business after all so if this is getting them more sales I guess it is the best decision), it is sorta a slap in the face to the people who actually care enough to play the game for years. Yeah it may be cool for a few weeks, but I guarantee once the novelty wears off it will be dropped like a bad habit. The improvements I suggested, however, would make this game much better forever.

Yeah I probably went in too much on Omega during my initial reaction, but I’m just tired of them constantly ignoring the requests for real improvements that can help everyone out. Omega looks like a fun little mode you play when you are drunk, but I guarantee that the people who will play this more than 2 hours a week will be <1000.

One of the videos showing the “Early Concept” characters back from when the PC version of Ultra was released features a bumbling animation for Ken when HP + HK are pressed. It’s at about 1:15 minutes into this video, and it’s demonstrated that Ken can cancel out of attacks with it, but I don’t know why that is. There’s also this video which shows Ryu doing the concept parry, performed with HP + HK like Ken’s bumble thing.

I’d take it from this that parries are meant to be shared across the cast in Omega Mode, are performed with HP + HK, and maybe some of the parry animations haven’t been fully done yet, which is why they’re only being demonstrated with Ryu at the moment. Unless this happens to just be Ryu’s own Omega “quirk”. He doesn’t seem to have much else other than that new kick and those target combos atm, so maybe parries are there to bring the crazy for him and for him alone.

Also, it doesn’t seem to be just a parry, Ryu seems to be able to do an Alpha Counter-style attack out of a successful parry, with what appears to be the same animation as his focus attack. I guess that’s kind of a neat way of bringing two classic mechanics together, which would make sense for Omega Mode.

Are you retarded? Capcom is a company. Companies use profits and reinvest them in new products to make further profits. This means that, at some time, the money we used to buy their product was spent to make Omega. On the other hand, the money we spent on the product was not used for 2 more months of development on balancing. At some point Capcom greenlight the development on Omega. This means that people have to do the coding on company dime and test it to make sure that it doesn’t have groundbreaking bugs. People are not spending time doing QA on an extra mode for shits and giggles during their “breaks”.

As much as I like this mode, the budget that is being used for it could’ve been used on anything else. Hell, they could’ve given us Color Edit mode. Either way, the money that you have spent on Capcom products was used to make this. Considering that I’ve bought Vanilla, Super, AE, and now Ultra, yeah, fairly certain that a bill or two of mine made it to its development.

I don’t necessarily mind it, but some will. Only an idiot thinks any capitalistic institution comes bearing gifts with no strings attached. TANSTAAFL is week 1 economics in high school, what in the ever living fuck?

LOL!!

I can’t even comment on the other guy’s position . . . well said.

OrochiDemon might be the most elitist nazigamer on the forum

Like, are you even good bro?

Uhmmm most crossovers that Guile is featured in gives him another Special and or Hyper/Super combo. And Chun-Li’s move set sometimes change as frequently as her in game sprites. Your point?

That’s not the problem here…Some of these moves look goofy and on top of that the glitches from the standard game were overlooked. Besides bringing up other SF titles are largely irrelevant here due to the fact SFIV from the start was supposed to be different enough that not everyone would be accepting of the game if they were a fan of SFII and III.

Also the trials help neophytes get the timing down pat for links…I don’t see how this is being undersold.

My thoughts… Well… I want to see what they did with Rose and the twins first.

Still, a nice addition if taken for what it is, a “free for all” mode. And i’m already waiting for Omega Edition CMV when it comes out.

P.S: Add a parry for everyone.

Ultra is 3 months old…

And I love how people are comparing it to Rainbow Edition like RE was official. It wasnt and the serious players of CE didnt play it. Im already seeing SF4 haters wanting to play this, is this gonna make them pick up Ultra and become tournament players in it? NO!

Capcom should be trying to get people to play their games more seriously. If you find this mode to be fun then you shouldnt be playing SF4, theres so many games out there, dont just stick with Capcom modern fighting games only. If you love that Ken has kick fireballs play King in KOF games, if you like that Ryu has a parry play Third Strike, if you like that Sagat has ballerina kick combos then play…I dont know what, screw that Sagat is a ballerina! Theres no reason to reinvent these characters especially in such a janky looking way.

Something tells me this is just testing grounds for the new Dimps game theyre starting to make and so they have familiar characters with these moves so that people will respond better to it. If thats so then they should just say “This is kinda the idea we have for the next Capcom FG, so try it out and give us feedback.”

Go fuck yourself, and go fuck your mother up the arse while you’re at it. I’ll play what I want.

There really aren’t. Not if you want to play a game that actually a semblence of a competitive scene.

King doesn’t have Crazy Kicks or an upward fireball. Juri or Gouken have the latter though, so you kinda fucked up there.

Ryu sucks in 3S.

No argument there.

Vanilla is seven years old next year. These characters have longed required a revamp since Alpha and 3S.

Hm, from the E. Honda video, I noticed you could quickrise his normal backthrow. I wonder if this also works for other throws.

  1. SF4 at it’s core is 6 almost 7 years old. There hasn’t been a MAJOR shift in how characters function since Super for any existing character. There has been less changes / new content for existing cast in AE/AE2012/USF4 combined than there was in the change between Alpha 2 and Alpha 3. Hell, probably less than Alpha 3 to Alpha 3 Upper or Double Upper.

  2. Capcom has flat out stated this ISN’T intended to replace ultra. And it’s entirely meant to be a “FOR FUN” mode.

  1. People are comparing it to Rainbow Edition not because RE was official, but because they recognize how over the top the changes are, as well as how sort of janky and haphazardly put together it is (like a hack.)

Whoops double post.

Speak for yourself. Short of bug fixes and MAYBE a more robust training mode, I don’t care for or want any of the things you just listed.

Trials? Who the hell cares? Just look up combos online and use training mode. Idk why you need the game to baby you and list a couple combos when there are already entire sites and forums devoted to it (and which do a better job). Rebalancing? We’ve had enough of those and honestly this game is pretty balanced already. Netcode is being patched with the next patch. Rematch in endless? Does it kill you to select your character again? I’ve had 1 on 1 endless lobby matches for hours and hours at a time without once thinking “OH MY GOD I HAVE TO SELECT MY CHAR AGAIN”.

Please don’t think you’re speaking for everyone because they’re not including the features you want. In fact, some of those features are extra pointless for people like me, who have access to a local console scene as well as arcades, and don’t have to rely on online or enjoy spending hours in training mode.

Honestly this mode seems fun, and I can’t wait to play with it.

Yeah, he may not speak for everyone, but he certainly speaks for a large amount of the players. Probably more than you think.

Rematch button in endless, trials, and improved netcode are the three most requested things by far. Only thing more requested is “remove unblockables”

Check any capcom thread during the announcement of ultra and the request threads. Check any eventhubs comments section whenever an update is announced or when ultra was announced. Check SRK front page. Check the general discussion threads and AE2012 rebalance thread.

You’ll find it comes up fucking ALL the time.

Look how often trials and netcode are mentioned in these comments sections.

Its monday so Im gonna leave this behind me. Its not for me, SF4 in general isnt for me, realized that watching Evo top 8. Youd think Id like how crazy this is, but it looks horrible and theres no point in showing us this now if its not finished since zero people knew about it outside of the company (and told people about it). Hope you guys get your friends to not stick with it if tournaments dont allow the characters in them.

This may be true…but trials and endless rematch…I don’t see them as being particularly important or useful. Just because a lot of people want them it doesn’t make them worthwhile. One is a feature that can be supplanted by training mode and the other is something so minor you could hardly call it an inconvenience, let alone a problem.

Netcode is important in keeping a scene alive, but that’s what they ARE changing in the next patch, so I fail to see the big issue.

Remember the fan feature/balance requests people put in before ultra? Fans are the people I trust LEAST to have input on what should and shouldn’t be in a game.

We have a new game and it’s free, so no need to hate. Recycled animations and lazy stuff is nothing new for Capcom. You know, Abel’s new move in SFxT was just his SFIV focus attack animation, so what?

I don’t believe it’s hate on my part personally. More like indifference in the face of Capcom’s fuckery. The new mode won’t kill my current “enjoyment” of the game…hell I might even use a few Omega characters depending on what’s added (Guy’s FF3 super pls).

They could have just done this from the start instead of fronting like they want the last version to be the most balanced.

His fireballs are disgustingly fast if you haven’t noticed. Like, EX Sonic boom fast on a regular fireball, if not faster.

Oh crap, you’re right! I hadn’t noticed that. Yeah, that’s pretty beastly.
