Your thoughts on Omega SFIV? LOL

You don’t need trials to train

If this was released as a new game people would be like “yo, Guile got a Remy-like kick for third special” and “Chun-Li got his old moves back”. What if instead of this they added an “Evil Ken” with that same moveset? They already did the same with E. Ryu, Oni and Decapre, so where’s the problem? It may be broken? Weren’t most SF games broken anyway?

the problem is that this mode took money to make. Sure deveploment people have told us that not all money for a project is allotted in the same way but, why couldn’t they have used the money for making Omega and moved it over to USF4 development? Mind you, I’m pretty excited for Omega but I don’t know that it should’ve existed at the cost of having Rolento/Elena/Poison/Hugo function better as characters.

Its technically free, but its money that was spent making it. In some ways I paid for this but I would’ve rather my money been spent giving Rolento an a real walk speed.

This mode looks like pure, unadulterated FUN. Capcom has no reason to apologize for this update, and since we’re also getting actual fixes (reverted nerfs brought about by a patch, Edition Select in Endless, and a round of PC netcode fixes), there’s zero reason to be complaining about this. Play it if you want; ignore it if you don’t like it. Don’t shit on those of us who want to use this as a fun distraction in addition to our more serious USF4 play.

On the money side, at this point i will be more mad at them to outsource money to shitty Udon to do these shitty creepy Summer DLC

If they wanted do another costume dlc, they had the chance to use the superior ones they already have (artbook sketches), instead they paid Udon to do ugly ones.

It reminded me like when they (Capcom) given moneys to Ninja Theory (ninja fucking theory) to do DMC. Then they had to help them anyway with the combat system because they are ninja fucking theory and they can’t do anything close to DMC4. Then it sucked anyway and sell worse, no matter how 2013 marketing machine tried hard, lol

Omega mode?
Look like something costed them really little (in many case i bet it was stuff already made that they cut, see Ryu’s targets), and can give them money as return… even if is free it can push some peoples to jump in (buy the game) or return (buy the Ultra update)

Reading around it seem outside the hardcore niche that we are here, the news got almost universal enthusiasm

What i mean is that probably they will even GAIN money from dat Omega move

From a development point Omega mode probably took more time and effort to develop than USF4’s mirco-balance. In Omega they did change characters and game play while in USF4 the changes were so minimal outside of RF/W Ultra somehow the twisted producers manage to sneak in a test environment for the future SF game using Ultra’s “New Game” budget.

I don’t mind Omega mode but what if our “Troll Mode” producers took USF4 more seriously and made it the definitive edition instead of “Forever Beta Edition”.

I’ll give it a shot. Still waiting on SF5 though…

The biggest thing I dont understand is why theyve hyped up ultra for so long and then in the middle of the night combofiend makes a 10 minute video showing off this without any warning.

Its so sudden after a new release of the game, and theres no defined reason why they made this. Is this a just for fun mode or is it a serious option for tournaments.

I’m very excited over this. In fact, I hope Edition Select (which will include Omega) will have a seperate Ranked Mode, since it looks like so much fun. Almost a new game even.

I’m, however, completely stunned by how some people react to a free mode that you don’t even have to play if you don’t like it.
The feeling of entitlement some of you have is ridiculous. You know, they don’t have to give us anything, let alone for free.

Well, this is a new feature of Ultra rather than a whole new installment, so it’s kind of a part of the ongoing support Capcom is providing for the game. This isn’t necessarily meant to distract from the game as a whole or put a stop on the hype train. It’s kind of meant to help continue the hype train. I guess.

I mean, I am now looking at USFIV matches and expecting characters to do things they absolutely aren’t supposed to do, so maybe the Omega Mode announcement has screwed with my brain a bit, but it’s not like this is designed to supersede Ultra at all. And it is just a “for shits n’ giggles” kind of game mode, I think they’ve outright said balance isn’t a high priority for Omega Mode.

Omega looks more fun than the main game. I welcome the bullshit it will bring us.

its rainbow edition all over again.
which really isn’t a good thing. meh, who cares.

/thread

so its not coming in the october patch, i guess that means they are still working on it. atleast we are getting netcode tweaks, edition select endless and some bug fixes.

I’ve only seen a couple of things that made me think “Wow that is fucking broken” (Like Ryu’s parry)

Given the context of everyones changes I think it could be an interesting mode. It doesn’t look half as absurd as rainbow edition. A lot of the moves still seem to have counters and are baitable/punishable on block. You don’t got things like full screen fireballs or invisible homing fireballs or anti air SPDs from half screen or more. Just seems really strong with a couple of broken things and A LOT of really ghetto animations.

I hope they polish it up. You can certainly see that they are concentrating on the world warriors first as they often do (So far only shown Guile, Honda, Chun, Ken, Dhalsim, Blanka). I hope they don’t run out of steam once they get to other characters like they did with SFxT where the first handful of characters they did got tons of changes and then a bunch of the other chars just got flat ports from SF4 with a couple of tweaks for the SFxT engine.

Things I’m betting we’ll see for Cody:

Air knife throw
Old final fight chain combo (possibly with turn around option to extend)
Ability to do badspray from other positions or kick dust up somehow.

Could you please explain, how in the fuck have you paid for a free update that hasn’t even been released?
This is getting hilarious and hopeless.

First of all, how do you know when, and by who, was this mode made by? What if the devs have spent their coffee breaks on this? “Well they could’ve spent it on the fixes!!!” Yeah, and you could be spending your free time learning coding and applying to Capcom to fix them yourself. The analogy sounds ridiculous, but it’s just as ridiculous as the point you’re making. You have no context on how this mode was made.

Hahah, this is the most stubborn thing that I’ve read on this forum yet.
Grow up and you’ll realize that when you are offered something, and as long as you can decline, be it free or not, it is a** gift.**
If you don’t like it, don’t take it. Your views on how the time could’ve been spent “better” have no relevance.

And the best part?

Wow would you look at that. They sure fucked up, look at how disappointed the audience is! Should’ve listened to the FANS!

Usf4 rainbow edition anyone?

They did take it seriously though. I’m repeating myself but look at the much more drastic initial Ultra changes, then the solid arcade changes, and finally the console changes? What do you notice? Outside of some exceptions, mostly things getting nerfed/removed cause the playerbase cried out resulting in the woefully underwhelming final product. Capcom honestly just needs to ignore its fanbase if they want to put out a good product. Luckily with Omega they can do that.

PS-Since Rolento was mentioned…tough luck. He was real good in the arcade version, but tons of people said “He’s annoying (or looks annoying) as shit/hell” and Capcom added a bunch of console nerfs.

If you guys havent seen already, E.Honda can now throw salt at you

What if everyone has it?

I remember multiple conversations on SRK and Capcommunity theorizing a parry with a punishable whiff animation(before Battle Fantasia came out). I’m certain Omega is a test for something.

it’s really easy to understand what he meant unless you are being purposefully obtuse

if you paid for Ultra it was likely with an expectation that it comes along with any patching required to fix the game. this is a expectation set by recent Capcom FG releases and competitive games in general. so with that expectation, and the knowledge that Ultra shipped as a pretty buggy product, you’d have a hope/expectation that the focus would be on getting Ultra to work correctly. addressing bugs, fixing the netcode. these are essentials.

so when you see that there’s a new mode being advertised, a natural response might be “wait what all the bug fixes? can you do that first before you start working on extra modes that don’t address the core issues of the game?” since everything costs resources, it isn’t absurd to suspect that a mode like this would slow down work on what needs to be fixed about the core game.

whether you agree with that position is a different question. but it’s an easy one to understand and is not a ridiculous one. not “hilarious and hopeless” at all.

I want to add that Criminal Upper will act like Joe Higashi’s Hurricane Upper. EX may be Cody throwing 2 Uppers or maybe two stationary C. Uppers. (Big grin on my face if the latter happens)

Not to sound mean, but Orochi, this is not a trick question. It’s just for fun dude.[/details]
