Your thoughts on Omega SFIV? LOL

I wasn’t too hype until I saw we got 3S chun back. We got her SA2 in the form of an EX move, it’s jump cancelable at the end; so you can combo and/or mixup after it. Close fierce (b+HP) is a command normal once again for a great anti air, and the even gave her a divekick… godlike.

This is gonna be fun as fuck, I would love to see big scale side tournaments with this mode.

Putting aside what those four things are, specifically, people basically have put x amount of money and/or faith into a product and/or company and feel liable to stick their opinions into business of questionable relation to them, regardless of the true necessity to do so.

i.e. You pay tithes. Church burns down. Did you do what you meant to do with the money? Probably. Did it go to waste? Well it wasn’t your money anymore so why should you care?

It’s probably a question of their ability to reason with themselves. But I’ll tell you one thing I know for sure. Shit isn’t as holy as rumor says.

I don’t get where your confusion comes from. When I say “serious” I’m referring to the art style and general tone of the game. SF4 has a comic/anime style that gives it a more light-hearted feel, plus some of the characters are an obvious attempt at comedic relief (Rufus, Fuerte). I’m not saying I want Street Fighter 5 to be in the same vain as Mortal Kombat, just that I want it to become darker.

As for hardcore? Simply put, I’d like some of the casual elements of SF4 removed. I like fighting games that punish you hard and early on, even if you’re a beginner. There are some elements to SF4 that allow casual players to get away with things. Reversal mashing is a prime example, there’s literally no timing needed at all. You can just mash and wait for your opponent to drop a link. Or, hell, sometimes the reversal will come out anyway. I don’t like it. It makes me scared to perform one-frame links given that lag is always a factor online, and it makes the defender learn shitty habits. By mashing reversals you’re also becoming less patient and don’t learn how to block better.

What do I like? I play USF4, SFxT, Injustice, MK9, KOF13, and HDR/ST. I guess that means I like a majority of the titles???

I’d rather have a system where you can’t miss basics, such as in KOF13. The input engine is made so that you will always get what you want if you do the “right” motion (By this I mean if you do dash 2369 you’ll always get a qcf, never a dp, if you do 6523 you’ll always get a dp never a fireball etc) you can’t be screwd because of some timing weirdness.

Plus the buffer is so fucking long that IF you DECIDE to reversal it WILL come out. You have to commit to your decisions. In sf4 engine there are random dp’s that come out because of stupid negative edge or leniency.
This system plus a auto reversal buffer for normals@Virtua Fighter and I sign for sf5 right now.

Looks like something I’d fool around with for one hour, then complete forget about.

However, I could see some top level pros having some fun with this mode, and some interesting match ups on YT

Yeah, and I honestly dont get why people like this game other than its easy and when people who play this game play others they miss how lax the controls are or how little damage moves cause.

James Chen would say “so and so says they want characters to have something crazy in Ultra.” I guess this is the craziness so and so was talking about.

This mode is just gonna be a big annoyance to anyone who takes Ultra seriously and wants to play it with casuals/friends. “I wanna play Omega Ken!” “Why doesnt Ryu parry?!” Just get ready to hear that now.

Get a group of friends in RL/online that agree with your vision of the game… wich probably you already have, like everyone else

If i want play “serious” i’ve my friends that like play like that… we don’t want use Omega mode? We just agree to don’t use it.
If are your -casual- friends you can ever go nazigamer and explain them that they should not pick Omega because it is’nt Pro-approved and that if they use it they will ruin the beauty of the technical beating you was planning to apply on theyr casual ass. I’m sure they will understand

If i just jump on random match on teh internet i’m accepting that i can face any kind of player, from the uber fan that dream frames and fap on Daigo’s pics to the fatty 13 yo super douchebag casual that just push some buttons before ragequit

I found reversal mashing to be non-existent in KOF13 (I tried it when I first started the game because I was completely new to KOF and only had SF knowledge. I got punished hard). In fact, with the short hop I found playing defense to be quite overwhelming. No complaints though, I think the game is extremely well made.

I never said I cannot perform one-frame links. I said I’m afraid to even try when I know that lag is a potential factor and I always assume my opponent is mashing like nuts. It makes me play extremely safe as a result.

I know peoples will probably see it only as “let’s realize every retard fan suggestion”, but for me as dude interressed in the game development side of the thing (and lifelong SF fan too) is kinda different

I see it as a no-damage (seriously,free optional mode banned from tourneys) cool opportunity to see the game creators get creative and experimenting with shit, without be worried to clash with the uber conservative fanbase

Example Ryu’s target combos (MP>HP and MP>HK) were supposed to be in in the early protoype version, same for some Ken’s stuff

Exactly. The mode is completely a “now that the final version is out, let’s have some fun!” from the developers.

I’m disappointed we got this over updated trials (I really want trials for the new characters), but it looks amusing and in an unprecedented move from capcom…it’s free and doesn’t seem to be Disc Locked Content.

You’re not understanding why most of us are mad first of all. We aren’t mad because they added this mode since it is free and optional, we are mad thattey are wasting time/resources on this instead of doing things that the community asked for.

We’ve been asking for bug fixes, updated trials, slight/heavy rebalancing, rematch in endless, championship mode, improved netcode, improved training mode etc. for AGES, and they decide to do a shitty PC user level mod instead of those things? Fuck outta here with the “It’s free so you better like it” mentality.

They already realized retard fan suggestion with Ultra proper. Nerfs all over the place, nonsensical changes, pretty much AE 2012 slightly altered cause most fans are terrified of change. At least Omega looks to be something drastically different. Megabuffing all characters? Big changes? That isn’t the SF4 fanbase that’s for sure.

From their point of view it’s surely dev/people who couldn’t work on those parts that made this. Since most of these were pre-existent that didn’t needed that much of work.

Why do people want trials so much? Yes they should have been in the game from the start but really you do the trials once for each character which is approx. 5-10 mins per character, 9 new characters without trials so you’re looking at max 90 mins of content, half of which is useless combos nobody will ever use in a real match. Don’t get me wrong I enjoy doing them but i’d rather they release more important updates over them any day (pls endless rematch button and a more expansive training mode thx cepcum).

On the topic of Omega; looks kinda whack I guess and I doubt i’ll play it all that much but it’s free and possibly tests new ideas so I guess I can’t complain but again i’d rather see them use their resources on better content than this.
