I gave up on SF4 last year, but Omega mode might actually get me to buy Ultra. It actually looks like it could be a ton of fun, and that is why we play video games.
I just see it being a distraction for most people. People will fall in love with how crazy their favorite character is and wont want to play the actual tournament Ultra game. How long has this even been planned and worked on for?
Instead of spending money on this( which it doesnt look like much was even spent on refining how janky it looks), they should have used the money to advertise the Pro Tour to get more people into the tournament scene, not make this casual catering game mode.
I can tell you right now with 100% accuracy that what they have shown so far are not new animations at all, which we really shouldn’t expect. They are simply animations taken from other moves and they are combined together to give the illusion that they are new animations, hence the ghettoness of most of them.
Capcom started asking for joke balance suggestions on their forums around when it became clear that Ultra’s changes were set in stone and people were disappointed.

Yeah, highly doubt it since Ultra is the tournament standard. I’m sure people will love their character’s omega version, but they won’t drop Ultra. Orochi, I feel like you don’t know what you’re talking about especially when it comes to SFIV

I think it looks great. A complete reversal of design philosophy from what we have been getting the last 4 years. Probably going to be fun rather than boring.
Cant complain since its free but it looks like something you will only play once or twice and then forget it exists.
People really need to start being honest with themselves about this shit. Which Street Fighter version do you want this game modeled after? Because “serious” and “hardcore” could apply to a million different attributes we put up with because there were no patches. I mean, honestly, that means so little its ridiculous.

I’m in the camp of having a generally positive reception of OMGSFIV.
All that crazy shit looks like it could be really fun to play around with it and I know everyone is going to have a field day fucking around with all of the “new” characters and system tweaks. I know I will. If anything, I feel like it’s going to make this game a lot more fun and add quite a bit more depth and life to it overall.
And I’m calling it right now: Ryu will have Joudan. I put money on it.
