Your opinion on teleport tactics

surprisingly my Arthur/Shuma/Strange team has an easier time against teleporters then some of my other off teams…

Anytime tech being a bug and getting patched out will help even it out some.

I think teleports are great from a offensive point of view, they open up more directions for offense and some create interesting defensive options. The problem lies in that there aren’t many defensive options other than crossing your fingers and hoping you blocked the right direction. I think most of us would be fine with a MvC2 style AAA that you can’t combo off of. The reason Tron and Haggar were so powerful was because you got a free combo for the other guy pushing buttons.

If an invincible assist caused an instant tech if the opponent was attacking, I would call that ideal. That way, you still are capable of calling the assists for combo extension, but no free combo because the guy decided he was going to jump in.

I don’t have a problem with teleport tactics, but I do think that there are way too many characters with teleports (or teleport-style) moves.

And I can agree with the above poster that there are not enough defensive assists. I think adding more defensive assists (or making some of the current ones more viable) would add another layer of strategy to the metagame.

Isn’t it hard to punish Dormammu’s M teleport? The other teleports he has I know can definitely be punished.

I don’t like doing the L and H versions. I’ll only throw an H version by surprise once in a while, but I mostly do the M version since it gets me out of trouble. And yes, I do use M version for crossups.

I can’t say I’ve been too bothered by teleports lately (although Strider’s has come close a few times). If they’ve got a teleporter on point, you can usually tell by their teammates whether or not they’re going to assist and teleport or just raw teleport. Of course if you read raw teleport it’s pretty easy to punish, but If it looks like they might be getting ready to rape you with assist teleport, one tactic that seems to be working for me is just super jumping right away to get out of that initial situation and reset the spacing, and then try to move in on my own terms before they can start formulating their next setup. Probably not great against high level players, but against mid-low level players that just abuse the mechanic, doing that seems to mess with their head since they’re whole gameplan was to crossup teleport you immediately into a long combo. Disrupting that flow and then moving on them before they have a chance to think too much seems to work pretty well. Again, this doesn’t really work against Strider’s though.

Unfortuantely some of us don’t have a local scene and rely on online to play other people. Some of us don’t have the ability to travel, or don’t have any friends that play Marvel like we do. Allot of people need online to get experience, regardless of lag or not. also here’s a list of teleporters
Teleporters
Wesker
Phoenix
Strange
Dante
Vergil
Deadpool
Strider
Dormmamu
Rocket Raccoon
"Psuedo-Teleporters" (Cartwheels)
Zero
Akuma
Frank West
Captain America
X-23
Firebrand
Felicia
Hsien-Ko
Wolverine
Jill

Discounting Pseudo-Teleporters, which by that i mean characters that can move through an opponent without colission but is still seen and is techniaclly just a forward movement. There aren’t a majority teleporters in this game, it just happens that good characters get teleporters also works vice versa.

You forgot Jill

That’s exactly what I meant in my post. It’s not the teleport tactics that bother me, just the sheer amount of teleporters, your pretty much fighting them every game. 19/50 characters is pretty rediculous in a game that you have 3 characters per team.

I think the fact that the controls are so silly that it’s too easy not to rely on it. why do they always track? why cant you just choose you destination?

why are Vergil and Weskers teleports ONE BUTTON!?

I don’t know why any one would be that worried about Hsien Ko’s teleport games. Although it is true that she just kinda adds to the huge number of characters that can do assist + pass through cross ups.

Because if they weren’t then average players would probably find doing a normal and then cancelling into a special move to be too cumbersome.

Plus you can only one button port after doing a command normal (Wesker) or special move first (Wesker/Vergil). Which yeah sure is easy…but it’s not stand in neutral position press a button easy.

C) Mash the button for your Hulk anti-air assist :coffee:

The fuck scrub? First dive kicks have always been in street fighter… ya know everyone one had had a character with a dive style move… dhalsim had one in sf2…

Secondly… teleports help make the mix ups faster in this slow paced game

slow paced game? lol

Haters gonna hate
Teleporters gonna win

Guess which side i’m on

Slow…? you must be seeing the world at 1,000,000 frames per second

The non-teleporting side!

why can people teleport behind you in the corner. Why capcom.

Agree. 8-way dashes are crazy. So teleporters with 8-way dashes are the best? (i.e. Dormammu & Phoenix)

they’re easy to predict if u realize the setups certain characters are going for.

all teleporters gotta call an assist cause that shits unsafe. and considering that 85% of the ppl online don’t know how to utilize teleports it can be pretty predictable.

dante shooting missles? oh he gonna teleport
vergil calling doom assist? oh he gonna teleport
strider’s vajra H is actually not safe…annoying…but u can block that shit and punish it.
wesker? come on anything he do is gonna be into teleport. he shooting a gun? teleport. he jumping in the air shooting a gun? he gonna teleport down. you in the corner? teleport H. wesker about 20 feet back? “time to work”> teleport. and the thing is is that without an assist to back him up you CAN catch him since it got like 20 frames of recovery.
vergil is the same as wesker. all vergils gonna teleport behind you…

and ya’ll think wesker is horrible to punish with teleports…then you haven’t fought any good dormmamus. dorm has probaly one of the best teleports in the game. and what about dr. strange his shit is almost like instant!

maybe im a little bias cause i have a teleport character on my team but i don’t see it being THAT hard to punish em. (excluding the bug thats getting patched)

I play Vergil and TP all the time. It really gets me no where. I only play my cousin since I don’t have it yet, and he’s been able to deal with the TP like it’s nothing. I may connect 1/4 of the time after TPing. I have better success with overheads.

You think about it, Dhalsim also had TP in SF2. He’s super god-like.

I think Dormammu has one of the best teleports in the game. His M teleport is somewhat hard to punish and it puts him in an area where he’s mostly safe. And if anything, he can 8-way dash and/or fly after the teleport.
