As far as the Yang/Akuma matchup goes, does anyone know the spacing (vertical and horizontal) for punishing Akuma jump back fireball? Can I only use EX Roll and U2 to punish consistently?
I always palm these and it works nearly all the time. MP version if they’re fairly close. Also, what do you mean by “MU”?
MU is short for match-up.
But, yeah. Don’t roll kick. LK DP and EX DP work because they begin attacking before they’re right against the opponent. But, MK and HK DP don’t begin until you’re literally touching and being buddy-buddy.
That, and anyone who’s not running forward like a retarded bear and knows the match-up will be, at the very least, “lol jabjabjabjab.”
Hey fellas, I’m a 2300ish Yang player (switched from Ibuki) and I’ve seriously been having some real real trouble match ups. I’ve actually been having less success with Yang then Ibuki haha, but Yang is so much fun =P Anyways, Adon/Chun/Gief/T.hawk/Bison have all been giving me tons of problems.
Adon: I’ve been having problems with just about everything Adon. C. MP and s. RH is destroying me in all footsies and the wall dive feels like a free way for him in. Jag kicks also feel like free pressure that I just have to sit and block for free pressure.
Chun: Everything -_-; good chuns tear me up with much better footsies and nj. rh.
Gief/T.hawk: usual grappler problems, I mostly just push s. forward/s. rh in this match up and zone. I dont know if I should be using other buttons.
Bison: same as chun really but paired with scissor kick pressure.
Any advice fellas?
Is the OP going to update this thread or what? The point of having the setup on the front page is so that people don’t have to go through pages looking for bits and pieces of information.
Just got internet again today after having it be down for the lasts 2 weeks. updating the first post. Also, only three pages so far, not too much to wade through.
By roll do you mean his command dash, or Senkyuutai?
I mean nothing. That was just speculation before the game came out, and it’s no good.
Actually, I just tested for the fuck of it, and you can OS with MK Senkyutai.
It beats everything except EX Headstomp (Yang loses clean), EX Scissors (trade), and Forwards Kick Teleport (Bison stays at point blank, and Yang flies up. Free punish).
It beats the most likely reversals though. EX Psycho Crusher loses clean, EX Devil’s Reverse loses clean, and off of that, you get a tip Senkyutai, which you can link Ultra or EX Senkyutai off of. Back dash loses clean too, as do both back Teleports. Forward Punch Teleport goes away to full screen. No punish for either, though this obviously favors Bison.
EDIT- Actually, the more I toyed with this, changing up the timing ever so slightly (as you are likely to do with sheer human error), will net you different results. You can lose to EX Scissors clean, and you can cause EX Reverse/Stomp to just whiff completely. In one instance, I got my Senkyutai to roll under EX Psycho Crusher without even trying to go up.
I think this is definitely worth using, as you will beat Psycho Crusher clean, even with sloppy timing, almost every single time. This covers back teleports and back dashes (which are a threat to Yang in this fight), and you can score big damage off of Reverse. I guess I’ll make a video later.
Good stuff to know. Thanx my dude.
I was wondering also are all of Yang’s OS’s done with Jab slash xx into whatever OS…
Also another mu i have trouble with… Dudley lol, I used to main dudley but man do I struggle with other dudleys. Yo HAV get on psn and play my dudley with your yang.
Dudley is one of those match-ups where the first knockdown gets to shit on the other guy for a bit (more in Dudley’s case than in Yang’s case).
Any advice against Cody? I just switched to Yang and it seems my friend’s Cody just shuts me the fuck down. As soon as he picks up the knife I’m in trouble.
Any advice for Sakura? I play Sakura and I really struggle in this matchup. Just seeing what you Yang players think of fighting Sakura
Balrog matchup is really in his favor. Any tips or advice in that matchup? Dive kick angles are weird on him and footsies is hard since stand fierce for him dominates and takes out the range for me to do cr.mk into rekka. Thanks in advance
Well, I think it’s dependent on if he does frame traps or not. I tend to use U2 in this matchup, although I may switch to U1 actually. I find that s.lk and s.lp are pretty good for pressuring cody players. I tend to also use my far s.mp at some points as well. I don’t like to dive kick in this match up unless I have him on a HKD (Hard Knock Down), as his wake up tends to suck a little. S.rh can be used from afar and I think it’s very good even though the start up and recovery are a bit high. Just stick with the basic BnBs and you should be able to win. Knife is a bitch, but I’m sure you can find a way in.
yeah u really cant divekick cody until you have knocked him down, his AA’s are too good. The above advice is really good. Whiff punish with st.lk OS rekka and cr.mk. Also using st.mp is really solid as well. If you can get cody to jump then just lk dp and start ur nonsense.
Can we update this please!
Op is slacking.
Lets start a new one he just did it to be first…
