"Your fighting is predictable..." Yang Match-up Thread

Glad I’m not the only one… I was having lk dp trade against my friend a lot too… I may have been doing it too late or something though. I just need to figure out how I’m supposed to play footsies with this guy…

I started playing Yang last night.
One thing I noticed was that Ultra 2 seemed to auto-correct against DeeJay very well after his knockdown; after 2 games the other guy just stopped bothering to jump in

Screw chun li

cr.fp is a godlike AA…if lk dp isnt going to hit it seems like this is the go to move

anyone have anything for AA yun besides lk dp?

mooooooooooooooooooooooseyyyy

What I’ve been doing lately against neutral jumps is walk up close MK into jump HP + mixups or MK DP.

I use s. MK, s. HK, s. HP as anti-air, depending. cl. HP too, in some spots.

What ultras should we be using against the cast?I take for granted that u2 is the ultra of choice against projectile characters(that thing is amazing from almost full screen).

Long backdash and/or fireballs? I generally use U2.

Otherwise, U1 for the most part.

I’ve heard it mentioned many times that Yang is a good counter to Yun. What helps him in the match-up?

I’m currently having Viper and Sagat issues. Gotta figure this shit out.

Rom, good shit at Revelations. Tough fight against Latif.

Steeeeeeein, good to see another fellow cammy player make there way over lol

I got rolled by a fei long today using cammy…not being able to divekick the pokes and have to resort to playing footises with him is absolute murder

I came up with some tricky resets and possibly a legit unblockable…ill post some vids this week hopefully

Going to revise my Deejay knowledge, I got my ass kicked offline.

DJ & Guile look like they might be my (personal) worst matchups.

Against DJ, Ultra 2 got STUFFED by late j.HK and air kneeshot thing, so it’s not 100% foolproof.
Additionally, jumping over his booms and jump-towards dive means you’re likely to fall into a slide. IIRC only light dive traded.
Also, fuck Upkicks <_<

VS Guile booms, jump-towards medium/heavy dive gets you airthrown if you’re jumping over.

Deejay’s air normals have a lot of active frames; very ST-sque. U2 doesn’t have any invincibility frames, so that might be why you’re getting stuffed.

You can use divekicks to mix the hitbox of the slide. Aim for his face.

If Deejay has down-charge, there’s no reason for you to jump-in at all. That’s like sweeping a Ryu then jumping in on him when he has two meters and ultra; you know what’s gonna happen.

Guile is just one of those match-ups you need to push Guile slowly back. Let him walk back, take a bit of chip from Guile, then get your damage in.

Crouch fierce owns Honda’s neutral jump fierce.

Does anyone know the timing for the ambiguous crossup on Guile after mk srk? I know that the mk crossup should be done earlier than normal because of Guile’s weird hitbox. If I do the mk dive would it have the same effect? I have a replay of the time when I didn’t know about Guile’s hitbox. I’ll try to post it when I get home from work.

Edit: Here’s the video.

So who does everyone here feel like are Yangs worst matchups so far?

Blanka, Honda, and Bison seem the worst to me. Blanka might just be a personal thing though as I have trouble with him regardless. It just feels like I can’t do anything in those three match ups and my only option is to just walk forward and hope he whiffs a normal and I can punish with cr.mk.

Am I the only one having a tough time against Chun? For some reason, I can’t create pressure opportunities that will pin her down.

I watched a Haneyama match and copied his gameplan. I don’t dive kick in and I don’t try to go into a poke war, all you do is some neutral jumps do bait her and the only button you press is cr.hk. Once you finally land it, exploit the knockdown and make sure you OS her backdash, but be mindful if she has meter for EX SBK, the last thing you want is being hit by it and sent flying across the screen.

Avoid focus absorbing fireballs and stopping them with palm, since she can follow them and tag you if you do either of those. If you have meter, do a hk DP and FADC to get right into her face.

Here’s the fight I’m refering to:

Notice he tries to sweep every time and well Chun is trying to counter with his own sweep, that’s when he gets to dive kick in. Once he gets the knockdown he OS’d the backdash and the rest is just making the most of your opportunities (ie not dropping combos, fadc’ing slashes to keep the positioning afterwards, etc).

I’m having a hard time with Bison and Blanka. It seems like Bison can just keep me out with pokes or get himself out for free. I just find it hard to get in and stay in on Blanka as well. Between up balls and electricity it’s pretty frustrating. Any tips?
