The only circunstance HP would come out is if the previous normal wiffs, so I can’t imagine any scenario where that would happen (except EX Seismo feint, but since EX Seismo already beats that OS, it’s a moot point). If she blocks the first normal, HP won’t come out.
man i am getting beat like a drum with yang. I need to figure out some basic bnb combos to help me get things going. My hardest match ups were against the shotos. It pissed me off and i eventually went back to my main to rape them. Other then that can someone give me some advice against the fireball crew?
1 : Senkyuutai / U2 go straight through fireball since it’s completely immune to them.
2 : Keep a short range to StLK OS Light mantis and confirm if you hit / Focus out ouf fireball since you’re at close range and either start a combo or Tenshin.
3 : Your light Senkyuutai is one of the best AA, it never trades. Be ready to catch a random jump.
4 : After an unteckable knockdown, do a St MP ( setup ) whiff, then Medium dive as soon as you can, you won’t get hit by 4-5frame reversals.
5 : Cr.MP is a good meaty choice against backdashers to OS U2.
6 : If you have health advantage in the round, feel free to step back and palm the shit out of fireballs. ( By doin’ so, you would be able to U2 through a minded one. )
The Viper OS I posted is far from ideal. It was just literally the first thing I attempted with Yang in training mode.
I saw banbaban’s Yun doing that OS with Yun against Viper in a vid a week or two ago, so I just wanted to see if it worked with Yang. I haven’t optimized it at all.
I will be coming with Yang option selects soon though. Stay tuned, I guess.
(for those that don’t know me, whenever I promise to do something “soon” in regards to SF, it takes 6 months)
OK… I just shot a couple of vids with the OS’s otori mentioned.
I couldn’t get the Fierce OS to beat Burn Kick or EX Seismo. Senkyutai OS is really cool for when it works. Really bad for when it doesn’t. I added an EX Grab on the Senkyutai OS for the fuck of it. Links coming in a minute.
EDIT- Oh, and for anyone wondering, on the Senkyutai OS, Viper cannot punish Yang when she does EX BK, and they both whiff. Yang recovers before Seismo can hit.
What exactly happens with the fierce? In my case, close HP would come out and beat the flame kick. It wouldn’t beat EX Seismo, but once I managed to make it trade with it (maybe it runs out of invincibility frames slightly before or just as it become active and I was lucky to time the OS perfectly, which isn’t feasible).
One think I just noticed rewatching your vid is that you’re starting with cr.lk (which is smart, since you can delay a crouch tech to avoid reversal ultras and the likes) whereas I did it with meaty cr.lp, just because I’m so used to OSing chainable normals lol. Dunno if it makes a difference.
Also, I wasn’t able to consistently OS the best backdashes (say Rose, Chun, Fei, etc). DP is too slow, light rekka wouldn’t reach and fierce was sometimes (depending on my timing) too slow so they’d block it. Best bet was u2, but that isn’t always avaiable unfortunately. If anyone can find better technology for this it would be awesome.
EDIT: Just saw the videos. Yeah, I didn’t care to test with regular BK lol, but that’s exactly what happened with EX.
On the DP one, when I did it it would autocorrect and catch the BKs. I need to get back to training.
Have you tried meaty cr.mp OS MK roll kick? worked well enough for me on Chun and Rose. Yang can’t do a cr.lk OS lk+hk and catch longer backdashes, but it still works well enough for shorter backdashes.
Quick question. Do you OS special moves the same as you do normals?
i think i understand how to do them with just pressing the button i want then my other option almost at the same time (plinking?)
is it the same deal
Yeah, you could just do that. There’s something like 240 DP inputs using just 3 directions (someone posted it in the Dan section; wish I could find it). I only use the :df::d::df: shortcut when anti-airing. Beyond that, I’ll always just put in a :dp:.
You can, but it’s not optimal. First, it screws you execution and you’ll take some time to DP in another fighting game. Secondly, it works in this case because cr.mp is not special cancellable, so you can get away with the shortcut. However, if you want to do OS from special cancellable normals you need better timing, so the shortcut will almost always be worse (so if you do that exact input but with cr.lk instead of cr.mp, it will cancel into DP right away, not OS it).
What the hell are you supposed to be doing in this matchup? I can’t find a good range to be at against him. His throw has godly range, his normals can keep you out, even your anti-airs trade most of his jump ins.
lol i’m with grimstar on yang vs bison, but lk dp never usually trade with me when i AA bison. vega also gives me a hell of ride too! but i’m not sweating it. it’s like my 3rd day on yang so obviously i’m gonna take a few L’s on the way while learning this dude.
