More so your dive kick is actually really useful in this fight. St. lk will work, but dive kick works so much better and once they stop throwing that button out you win the ground game.
Yoooo you can punish all honda headbutts with hp rekkas now if you stand block. On crouch block you can get one hit of hp rekka. Also u2 punishes hp headbutt.

Guy gets wrecked by Yang? I’ve had trouble fighting a local Guy player, but I rarely get to play against him, can’t seem to get started on any of my knockdowns and I have a harder time blowing up his crouch tech than most other characters.
I suppose Guy must lose hard to Yang in neutral once you’re used to all of his approaches, just gotta start reacting to his run slide/overhead shenanigans personally.
Has anyone faced a decent Poison so far?
I struggle extremely when it comes to that matchup.
One of our local guys plays her and I feel so lost in the footsie battle for some reason.
I feel like her c.mk beats my c.mk and as a yang player I am just not used to that.
Other than that she can throw projectiles all day and even if I get a read on that she is still save because of her ridiculous recovery.
Her overhead seems to be very fast, I am used to react to dudley’s overheads on my wakeup but I can’t react to her overheads yet.
Her flipkick is also hella fast and she has an advantage on guard so that I have to backdash all the time after blocking it.
The only time I feel confident against her is when I knocked her down.
I feel like I have to stay out of footsie range, get a knockdown and rush that shit down.
How do you approach the matchup?

My main game was xT, so in order for you to excel in that game you have to be better at blocking overheads since they lead to huge damage in that game. So switching back to USF4 against Guy is easy since his overheads aren’t that fast. The run slide/high mix up is easy, block low first then switch to high. You beat him on the ground, so he has to jump at some point.
Concerning the cr. tech thing. The guy player here presses it a lot and it’s actually quite funny how many people lose to him doing it. But imo delay rekka strings work and if they’re doing it a lot, use the target combo (lk, mk, hk) and jump cancel the second hit and dive kick their feet. It works wonders for me.

You were right about the Rose matchup, it’s pretty free if you know what ranges to take advantage of.
Also, the safe-jump off the forward throw you can throw in option select Ultra 2 off of a jump fierce, it’ll catch her backdash (won’t stuff EX sprial though, so be wary of meter).
Thanks Her0, I called out some casual matches against the Guy player and ended up doing pretty well against him for once.
Now I lost to an El Fuerte, his EX chest bump is a dumb good AA now so you’re not allowed to jump forward at all if he has meter, quite frustrating.
so walk? fuerte deals with jumps well anyway.
Walking works? I just get hit by the grab/splash shenanigans before I get into poking range, a little bit of damage if I guess right and punish, get vortexed if I guess wrong.
Definitely another match-up I have to call a player out on to practice.
I think yang’s best matchup is akuma.
One of the few matchups where Ultra 2 is godlike, Vega and Viper (?) being others.
Does Yang still have all those anti-Viper OSes?
Also what about Yang vs Juri?
Probably. close MK will always be my favorite Yang OS.
I don’t know who it favors since both characters honestly have the same toolset and wake-up games, but Juri can do dive kicks at a lower height, and maybe has more ultra setups for either ultra. It feels like a mirror match except I respect Juri’s zoning ability where I wouldn’t respect Yang’s.
I also like Yang vs Cammy, Gouken, E Ryu, Abel, Dhalsim and Balrog. Zangief too on days I feel like being a sadist.

My gief losses shifted from s.mp spam to the 2009 tactics of whiff green hand > ultra.
