How is s.lk against scissor pressure? Never think of this option.
not so great. i believe it loses to every follow up option at the most common push back range. another scissor, stand mk, stand rh all win.
if you have to press a button after, stand mp buffered into slash is your best bet. first i’ll tell you why its your best bet, then i’ll explain why you dont always want to press it against a good bison even if it is a good bet
at 6 frames at the least it will trade with stand roundhouse if you and the bison player come out frame perfect. the trade isnt in your favor, but the risk reward is. if he isnt frame perfect your button wins and you go into slashes for 170 dmg or so. if youre not frame perfect none of his follow up options are very damaging unless he does something like ultra. stMP will beat his stand mk and raw scissor in a frame perfect situation
you dont always want to try to stuff his follow ups because after you block a scissor it sets him at a perfect counter poke range. a good bison player will let your st.mp whiff and whiff punish it with his button or scissor if you are predictable with your button presses
a top level bison will whiff punish with meter. something like crouch MP scissor FADC into combo
Thanks a lot, really helpful. But i wonder, now that lk scissor is -1, it should beat s.hk.
its a range and hitbox thing. he has to be close enough for stlk to hit bisons back leg when he does stand RH
Oh i forgot to say i talked about far mp lol
For whatever reason when I click on the show button for the spoilers NOTHING comes up. Why is that?
Hey guys, found out I’m facing UG Flash House first round at Evo and could use some tips on the Blanka match up. I main both Chun and Yang, but I’m leaning towards using Yang for most of the tournament.
I haven’t faced a real high level Blanka so any tips would be amazing.
dont overthink what hes doing…he hops a lot and stays in front (flashouse specifically.) You can cr,lk OS st.mk and it beats ex rainbow ball. Know your punishes because he will upball you and if he has no meter just meaty him on wakeup.
also he will cr.fp you in footsies…so ex rekka on block
Please test, but in a match I figured out that after lp rekka ender, dash forward jump hp beats his reversal up ball.
So, I’ve been talking with CJ a lot and he was asking me why I would ever end my rekka strings with jab rekka instead of heavy. I told him that you get a meaty st. RH afterwards and I’m closer to my opponent. He countered with the fact that it’s focus-able and that my main focus should be pushing back to the corner versus trying to stay close to my opponent. He says that he’ll personally give up potential pressure for corner push since that’s where our characters shine at.
So lately I’ve been doing heavy rekka enders and actually using raw lp rekkas in fights and it’s actually working very well for me. I’m still getting used to rekka spacing though, so that’s a work in progress. But I’ve been doing a lot better against CJ. Oh and I don’t know if you guys watched CEO, when CJ had to play Floe, he came up to me after the match and thanked me for all the Yang practice. He said it was his “easiest” high profile player fight since he’s had so much practice against me. lol. Poor Floe.
i dunno. i feel like lp ender is my only real threat for a follow up. you can get a read on an auto tendency, like jump, back dash, wake up button, etc, and you can punish accordingly. i feel like always going for corner push would be leaving damage on the table. plus it only kicks them like half a big block more. idk. to each his own i guess
Which CJ?
Which CJ?
Hero plays with CJ Truth a lot so I’m guessing it’s him (the Fei player).
fake crossup setup vs Ibuki:
cl.hp xx hk rollkicks in the corner, immediate jump forward, mk - hits front.
If no quick rise: whiff cr.mp, immediate jump forward mk for the same effect.
Couldn’t get it to work on any other character.
And ultra changes made a lot of stuff blockable both ways.
And ultra changes made a lot of stuff blockable both ways.
As in you can hold block either direction and it’ll block?
Yes. Probably something to do with the “fix” to unblockables
Question. I see people always bringing up some of Yang’s most difficult matchups (Honda, Balrog, etc.)
Let’s be optimistic…How about some of his most favorable ones? You know, the ones where the opponent sees who you’re playing and they think “FML.”

Honestly I don’t think people think that yet. There are still too few Yang players doing anything big to make people fear him, but imo I think Yang murders E. Ryu, Sim, Vega, Rose, Guy, and Akuma. Everyone else feels like 5-5 for me except the bad match ups.
Eryu loses his most valuable tool, Sim gets bodied in the corner, Vega gets bullied, Rose can eat these dive kicks, Guy can’t jump, Akuma has no health and I have one of the best answers to air fireballs in the game.
Eryu loses his most valuable tool
I’m assuming that’s his loss of cr.MK spam due to st.LK? If so, I’m going to start abusing the junk out of that…
