I was reading through the entire matchup thread just to get pointers. I think this was the most valuable gem so far.

j.mk should work just fine. LP rekka ender LK dive kick also works in the corner. Double EX palm is funny against him.
Who would you guys say are his best and worst matchups? I pretty much can’t beat fuerte ._.
Fuerte is fine, you can punish everything and you own him on wakeup. What aspects are u struggling with?

Rog, Gief, Bison, Sagat and Guile (Maybe)
Best imo
Dudley, Sim, ( I personally like playing vs shotos that arent akuma and ibuki)
He doesnt really have matchups where you get a clear advantage. Its mostly just what matches you as a yang player like lol
I believe the worst match up for yang by far is Thawk
i disagree with that…outside of damage yang can deal with him and punish a lot of his stuff
gief honda and rog are the worst to me. followed closely by hawk
i like all the shotos with yang. i like guile too. but the definite wins are sim and dudley
How do you play against Thawk playing footsie with low mk, far hk, far mp and such ?
Chargers is insta loss for me, save for dj and blanka obviously.
A friend of mine (blueblazer) plays t hawk at a fairly high level and there are certain ranges where u can whiff punish hawks advances fairly well. Ex rekka also works well in that match. Ill see about running a set with him or worst case ill msg native to play online and see if i can post something.

If Decapre does Ultra 1 you can fullscreen punish her with EX DP or Ultra 2. If she does it closeup you can also just backthrow (like Dhalsim U1) or Ultra 1.
edit: Also after losing 30min to a Chun Li I discovered that you can now punish blocked sweep more easily with the new startup of st. LK into full combo.
What’s up fellas… I’ve been lurking for a long time and just got back into the scene. I’ve been playing Yang since AE and am so glad he’s going to be pretty viable this time through. I’m having a brutal time against Adon and most recently Rolento. His better buttons makes for a frustrating ground game and he has a godlike AA.
any suggestions on these match ups?
If t-hawks try to move forward with condor spire, it’s really easy to tag it with St. Mp xx rekkas. It was a lot harder before with cr. mk. At least we can take some of his gimmicks away now.
Edit : El Fuerte bodies me as well… Stupid mix ups. I really have no idea have to fight that character… It’s really frustrating lol
I don’t know about rolento but with adon, you just can’t play his games. Don’t let him get in your head with jaguar kicks and the like. Sometimes the best offense really is a good defense. Plus, yangs crossup setups allow him to beat out rising jaguar, and in many situations, land a FULL combo. use that to your advantage and once the adon player notices he cant dp your jumpins on wake up, thats when you start the mixup game.
edit: to be honest I just went 3 - 5 against an adon in endless and the match does seem tough.
Any info on juri? I’m having a horrible time with her zoning. With the walk speed increase, it does help alot. Also. With her tiny hatbox, I think using the new stmp will help.

I was getting hit with his AA(standing strong?) at first too…but if you empty jump, it will miss. So eat like 1 of his AA’s to make him keep sticking it out there and next just come in with your first button being on the round such as cr mk rekka(maybe even empty jump Ultra1?), and then you’ll make them think twice… like the whole match from that point about using it.
His pokes are REALLY good though. Hard to play footsies with him.
hey guys i had trouble with this before ultra but do you guys have anytips on Balrog and Chun Li? i have such a hard time getting in and doing damage. Yangs normals are decent but its real handicap trying to out mid range them. any tips?
also Hugo match up notes. Palm and fake palm mid screen make Hugo’s life hell. his bit hit box gets him anti air’d a lot with it. it pretty much bi-sects the screen. of course dont abuse it and mix up the pattern and keep that giant out.
Just discovered that after command grab on Hugo you get far stand fierce instead of close fierce every time. So much for cl.HP into rollkicks/slashes on him. Going to have to go into st.mp, st.lp or launcher instead.
