lmao at the people talking about groundbounces. Cerebella’s super is a fucking SUPER. Of course you can’t tech in the middle of a super. I can’t even!
Not sure. I don’t main a character that really uses staggers. My only option to score one is really unsafe. But they only have 15f to shake it so it might work more often than you’d think. Still, don’t rely on it.
It’s an easy example, is all. Painwheel’s cr.HP causes a groundbounce, and the effects are exactly the same.
There are definitely indicators that combos are tech-able. A combo is tech-able after a knockdown if a blue circle appears under the opponent. A combo is Burst-able (from infinite protection) if the opponent glows bright fucking pink. Those are the two times that your combo can be broken…otherwise, the combos all work (unless you allow the opponent to shake out of stagger). I’m not sure how it could be more clear short of showing “BREAK THE COMBO” on screen in big letters.
My problem isn’t so much glitches with SFxT, but the sheer number of infinite combos it seems to have developed, people seem to find more every day… That’s what sucks the majority of the fun out of MvC3, the whole “oh look, I got hit, may as well put my controller down until their combo is finished and my character is dead” is really disengaging.
Plus some of the glitches sound pretty harsh. That screen lock glitch that was on SRK’s front page a few days ago? thank god that is done with Yoshimitsu, if a high tier character had something that let you create corner combos midscreen people would be hardcore nerd-raging I’m sure…
Also take for granted my opinions are kind of biased, I don’t play SFxT, probably never will (I’ll wait for TxSF if anything), so I’m basing my opinions off of face value…
Maybe just having the computer tech out automatically like a player would… ?
The Yoshimitsu thing isn’t nearly that bad. It doesn’t last long enough to result in a full corner combo and it costs 2 meter to do it. Trust me, the Yoshimitsu thread has been talking about that since almost day one and none of us who use him have found it powerful enough to write home about. Most just find it funny at best.
There are only 4 infinites, the only two that could be deemed practical are excessively difficult to pull off, one is with a character no one uses (Kuro) because he himself dies in one combo and the other requires tool assisting…
I’d like to know what more than the 4 I mentioned you’ve seen… Kazuya, Julia, Steve and Kuro are the only infinite I’ve seen.
Dis guys, is a masterful troll.
Yeah, but that only helps during Training. The current system helps during all gameplay.
It would help during a level of play where one would assume people actually know how to tech…
Can someone please post a video of a combo that DOESN’T work? I’d like to see an example. Are people really making videos where the enemy character is flashing pink?
There have been a couple like that. Most of the examples are from people OTGing after the opponent bounces enough to show a blue circle (which means the opponent can recover). If you want to see an example, then check the Video Round-up on the SRK Front Page. Quite of few of those videos have “combos” that don’t work.
Typical SRK front page
Thank you very much, I honestly would not have noticed that on my own. I’ll have to review my own combos to make sure I don’t have those blue spots mid-combo then!
I came to this section of the forum for observation purposes. I didn’t get Skullgirls though I have the trial version. It’s okay, but not my cup of tea. I’m more interested in how a game like this would be perceived by the FGC, or at least this particular area of the FGC. There’s an interesting psychology here, but I won’t get preachy or discuss my thoughts [in this forum]. What I will do is address this thread, which other posters have pointed out to be kinda pretentious.
- What people do with the game, what they record and upload on the net, is their business. Will it teach bad habits? Who cares. Nothing to do with you and whatever makes you think you have a position of volunteer policing.
- This thread highlights a key trait of the FGC that certain people like to regulate how people should ‘play the game’. This trait has evolved into how people should even use the game in general. This all trails back to the idea that how one plays the game will come around and affect you. This concept is silly, with my belief that fighting games tend to evolve organically regardless of trends (especially launch period trends).
- Proper combos will be discovered under the same process of people learning the game without fleshed out wikis and movelists widely available. Faulty combos that won’t fly in a real match will be weeded out by core players. This will happen. A rant against YouTube vids is silly against this. Let them eat cake, it will not harm you. Will it harm other players? Maybe, but if they have the conviction to go online and look for videos they will probably learn better habits through further inspection. Let them grow. Let the game grow for that matter.
- Personally not a big fan of combo videos in general. They’re often situational and unpractical. Nice to see how far the character/system goes, but mostly unpractical - which means disinterest from my view.
Don’t hate the playa, hate the game.
I don’t care if people are recording themselves doing whatever.
I have an issue when they post “combos” that aren’t actually combos, then those “combos” get posted on the SRK Front Page. It makes the community look ignorant. So, if someone posts a “combo” that doesn’t work, then they should note it in the title of the video.
This is absolutely stupid.
If you’re uploading and talking about how you’re doing X amount of damage, and you’re godlike, like everyone is doing, then you’re hurting other players. People who don’t realive the mechanics are going to try and emulate this bullshit to try and get good, then go to a tourney and get bodied.
Take the cape off.
Fine, but it really isn’t an ‘issue’.
So let them get bodied. They’ll get bodied way before then (online, offline). You’re over-dramatizing.
I have to agree with this.
Seriously, do the rest of you think people won’t be able to figure out that these combos don’t work for themselves? I would like to believe that people who play fighting games aren’t that fucking stupid. I’m positive any noob who makes their way through the tutorial, which explains the combo system, will understand immediately why their combo failed the first time they attempt it against an actual opponent.
Quit being a bunch of over-protective bitches.
