Oh, also… by request I was testing FA > Fukiage and I noticed something interesting. I got it to work on Dudley but I noticed how inconsistent it seemed (I was getting it maybe 1/10 tries). Then I switched to Zangief and I had the same exact results. It seems like there is 1 possible frame that the hit-box overlaps with the Fukiage. I was getting more consistent (still very very unreliable) results with FA3 NO DASH, DP+MP. That would sort-of adjust the timing for me so that I could get the hit-boxes to overlap more often than FA3, FF, DP+MP. I also noticed that it doesn’t seem to hit on first frame of the DP… it’s like the Fukiage is already out and the last active frame connects.

Think this points to certain moves having hitboxes that are only active on opponents considered to be in-air. I think the same might just apply to Ryu’s U2. (Overlapping in-air and ground hit boxes.) And Hakan’s U2 is probably nothing bit one giant in-air only hitbox like this that triggers the animation. This is likely a new game mechanic in the SF4 series, as I don’t think we ever had hitboxes that struck only in-air and couldn’t hit grounded even when they touched the ground.

Did the launcher into u2 cause makoto to switch sides ?

I was trying something with AA fukiage vs a jumping opponent in the corner. What happened was the fukiage landed and the ultra came off the corner wall I was facing initially and hit once. I’ve been trying to replicate it with no success.

did you try FA3->FA1->fukiage->fukiage?/EX fukiage/EX hayate?

yes we did. rose’s soul throw and fuerte’s guac throw, both of which are hits (you can trade with them in the air) and not true throws.

trag, if it hasn’t been done already, test if you can hit with any of Makoto’s normals after a single Fukiage. If you can, then that tells me it should be possible to land her Ultra 1 afterwards, since they’d be in Float knockdown if you’re hitting with normals. I know that there’s been no luck with this setup so far, but unless Ultra 1 functions like a throw, or is just strange all around, it should be able to connect.

lv2 Focus, dash, mp fukiage hits sagat pretty consistently… as he’s about to turn airborn. I can’t replicate it on any other character that I’ve tried so far though. Can’t get it to hit at all on Ryu.

I can also do Lv2 focus, dash, mp fukiage->super->ultra 2 (one hit so far… trying to time it a little later since after the first hit makoto just flys pass)

You can do s.FP xx charged Medium Hayate for more stun/damage.

You can also link a meaty f+mp into itself.

I don’t know. Could those possibly reach higher than Sagat can stand? Probably not falling sky at least.

ex guac would grab people out of backdashes and ex soul throw could grab viper out of instant air burning kicks. they definitely had attack boxes lower than sagat’s head, they just didn’t work on grounded opponents.

I’m assuming you are correct and that you had already considered this, but the Ultra 2 setups are driving me mad right now, so I have to ask. Did you try doing HP > Feint > Ultra2 close to the back wall like you had to do in 3S? Maybe with the light kick version? Also, is it possible that HP xx Super > Ultra 2 could work?

Never mind, I figured out how to get the FA > Fukiages to work =)

FA 3 > HP Fukiage > EX Fukiage 318/468 stun
FA 3 > HP Fukiage > EX Hayate 290/433 stun

So far FA > HP Fukiage works on Sagat, T.Hawk, Hakan, Honda
FA > LP Fukiage works on Zangief some times, EX works more often, weird ass hitbox?
Blanka didn’t work for me, and I’m too tired to try others.

After hayate you’re out of ex karakusa range. so no absorby hit for you…
except… after hayate you’re in kara- ex karakusa range.

What can U2 punish? Ex: Can it punish a Blanka Ball or a Cammy Arrow?

Well? how do you get them to work?

When you hit him with your FA 2 or 3, dash into him then delay your Fukiage.
You Fukiage when his knees are on the ground and his chin starts to drop.

I just screwed around with Blanka Balls and it depends when you hit him it seems.
Whenever I hit him near the start of the ball, I’ll only hit him once, and the rest of the hits whiff.
If I hit him mid-screen, all 4 hits land without the animation. You can still follow up tho

>> Cammy’s Cannon Arrow’s a bit weird, you can get the animation I think if you hit her right when she starts to throw the move out at full screen.
If she’s already started and going towards you, you’ll miss her completely.
If she’s mid screen and you use the shorter ranged U2, there’s a chance of getting hit out of your U2 if you land like a pixel in front of her.
If you actually hit her feet, you’ll land 4 hits with no animation

I think he meant, punish a blanka ball / spiral arrow on block not on startup. Disregard if that’s what you did, but your description sounded like you tried to counter a blanka ball. pretty crazy hitting a full U2 on reaction off blanka ball.

ok, crouching forward and to a lesser extent crouching strong are very good anti airs!
