You think you're hungry? You're not

SFIV is just a bad appetizer…Hopefully SSIV will be a full delicious meal…

I think everyone is wasting time leveling up on a game no one will be playing once SSIV comes out.

We sittin’ here. I’m supposed to be the franchise playa. And we in here talkin’ 'bout PRACTICE.

NOT A GAME. NOT A GAME. NOT A GAME. WE TALKIN’ 'BOUT PRACTICE.

I think good things came out of this thread, despite some really gross shit being posted too. I think it’s good for people to come out and say what they want to say. Also Julian, I really think you shouldn’t give up on sf4. Find a way to make it a cool thing for you. Practice with people you are cool with if nothing else. Even if you have to take a break until your schedule frees up, don’t give up.

Stop fussing about lists. I’ll fucking invite who I want to my fucking house. This isn’t the third grade where we try to think about everybody and invite everybody to make sure they don’t get their feelings hurt. If you can’t respect the house, or the host or even the god-damn rules in place, you aren’t welcome. If you can’t bring anything to this table, you can’t fucking sit down at it. Better yet, throw your own sessions with your own rules. Stop pointing fingers at other people’s sessions and do your own shit.

I’m not talking about for the good of the scene. I’m talking about my fucking house. You remember what happened at Zach’s? You want that shiet to happen at your place? That’s why there’s no randoms at my house. You have to be vouched for if you’re new. Sorry, but I’ve got a house and belongings to protect.

You’re not helping me clean my house after 20 people come over are you? You’re not paying my bills are you? Hell, did you even bring some snacks to share? Fuck off. Really. I’ll throw sessions for people that are respectful, helpful to others and keep a good vibe in my house. If you can’t do that, go to a PUBLIC venue like GW.

I think a few of you in here need to get on some MDMA and just give each other a big hug for about 5 hours.

I can ask around and find some triple-stack blue Dolphins for you guys if this seems like a good idea?

Dragon Joose counts, right?

<3 JesseJ, all day, every day.

Read all these posts or not, but here’s some Muggish for you:

Some people want to play the game to play the game. Others play as a side thing/something to do when kicking it with homes, trying to improve, but not trying to take things to a new level. and that’s fine. We all know who is who, or at least will soon enough.

Those that are serious will realize that talking about things doesn’t make you play better, won’t help your execution, and doesn’t do shit on it’s own. If you’re really looking to improve you’ll follow suit and figure out who is as serious as you and go play the goddamn game. We don’t need to sit around talking about how we plan to organize a way for us to get better. Just go do it if you are.

Less talk, more walk, Seattle.

I’ll see you in a few months from the top of the bracket. Peace.

hahahahah I’m glad someone else is as bothered by that character as me. I wish it weren’t true but when he gets on that microphone… so help me god I want to shove that thing down his throat. I’d rather he be honest with himself and get on the mic and repeat “I love myself! God, I am so awesome - I love to fucking hear my voice. The only reason I work here is to talk on this thing so everyone has to hear me and I feel important!”

I am. I’m trying to tell him to not play that stupid ass dong dong game. I am the fighting game dictator. You know it’s bad when elias the flyest is telling you to stop playing something - what don’t I play? I try not to be a hater, but damn. I’m hatin’ on that game.

and Julian, Frank isn’t trying to attack you as a person (whether you realize it or not, you’re taking it personally) all he’s saying is you didn’t have an attractive attitude toward SF4. Who wants to help someone improve who is just going to quit the game the next week? They might be back, they might be not. Even if you hadn’t formally quit, your mental attitude about the game was the same as quitting. Everybody has moments where their character’s flaws drives them nuts (TRY PLAYING FUERTE ;ALKSJDF;LAKSJFD) but you were so negative about it you couldn’t see the positive; couldn’t see the light. You focused so much on the negative aspects (ex: you had problems landing ultra) that you would try to force them to happen (ex: random jumping mps) and then when you get punished or something it would upset you, furthering the problem (see? I can’t land ultra).

I’ve had moments where Mickey seriously pissed me off, like a lot of the people in this thread. I thought he was a fucking jackass who was full of himself. I’ve had moments where we were totally on the same level, having philosophical deep ass chats on AIM (lol). I find that we have similar ideals and he has good intentions behind things that come across as the opposite. I’ve heard not being able to phrase your thoughts correctly/at all is a sign of true intelligence; that this person has insight and wisdom.

HERE IS WHAT MICKEY IS TRYING TO SAY

Attitude. Is. Everything.

**EVERY

THING.**

EVERYVERYVERYVEYREVYERYTHING

Like that one “I am my own worst enemy” thread, if you go into a fight with the “oh shit it’s [xxx]” mentality, you will lose. We’re all guilty of this, I am excluding nobody. Mickey even said he expected this thread to go the wrong way from what he wanted, and guess what: it did.

My yoga instructors have a saying, “Your setup determines your reality.”

Literally, it is about the poses and stretches; you try to hop right in and you will lose your balance. You don’t do each seemingly superfluous, preliminary step, you will fall.

Everything they say, however, has more meaning than that. The attitude with which you enter anything in life determines the outcome. People do not understand the power of the human mind, like the placebo effect. There are cases where people have terrible illnesses where they could find no treatment, and all they did was convince them they were healed. This pure mindset, the pure power behind their thoughts actually DID heal them of their ailments.

The human mind is capable of predetermining the outcome of anything you do.

I did very well at my first evo, and it’s all because of my yoga practice, and the things I’ve learned from it. Your attitude is everything. It sounds like a cheesy elementary school wall poster but it’s true. If I could hold those strenuous poses in a 105 degree room, pushing my body to the limit for 90 minutes straight, I could do anything. Any time something was overwhelming, scary, stressful, or just too much - I just think back to that. If I could handle that, what couldn’t I handle? There were moments where I felt like I might pass out and die, but did I panic, did I give in? No. I just lay down, take deep breaths, and let it pass. My panic, my discomfort? Not helping. So why let it happen?

So when I’m sittin’ there in that giant room full of hype at Evo, over a thousand players of Street Fighter, I just kept a positive attitude. I’m not even that great at street fighter but I just had the right mental focus.

This relates because what Mickey is trying to say is most of us don’t have the right mindset. That’s really all he’s trying to press into our heads. He’s not trying to attack you, to say you are weak and don’t have the potential, the drive. He’s saying you don’t want it. You don’t truly desire it - you might think you do, but you don’t. You have the desire to get better, but do you have the desire to get great?

IT ISN’T ABOUT HAVING ALL THE FREE TIME IN THE WORLD TO SIT AT CODY’S APARTMENT AND PLAY MARVEL 20 HOURS A DAY

Practice helps execution, yes, but this ain’t marvel son. If we’re talking about SFIV, there’s nothing that is that hard to do. Practiced execution is great, but if you can’t fucking conquer your mind, your fingers aren’t going to follow.

Good luck with the quitting smoking Jared! You have to want it, so I hope you really do. :bgrin:

Sup, champs.

I just wanted to say sorry for not coming out to more sessions and shit, I’ve been really busy smoking weed and playing Peggle, but again, if any of you want Sagat or Gen practice hit me up on xbl!

My turn to speak on this. Don’t take this personal but I am so fucking tired of all this bitch made attitude on this board. I swear man you dudes catch feelings harder than an emo girl on that time of month. What gets me is all this talk about mediocrity. I just don’t ever want to see anyone try and say I am “mediocre” just because I don’t place top 8 in some fucking video games. Really? I hope I don’t run into any of you in the real world. Then again most gamers are broke with shitty jobs who need games so they can feel better about themselves due to their lack of accomplishments. Real fucking talk. Ask anybody who is a registered user on pleasebelieve.com. So on the realz, I am not trying to hear any of that nonsense right now.

No one here is conforming to mediocrity, you dudes are just fucknig lazy when it comes to throwing down for real. WE HAVE ALREADY DONE THIS WELL BEFORE SFIV. Goddamn. I consider myself a decent player in that I always took to fighters naturally. Could I have been great? Sure why not. I was just never 100% but what I did get out of games I enjoyed, and still do to this day. I can put my ego aside and admit this with out hesitation. How the fuck is this conforming when games are a hobby, not a priority. None of you are getting paid for this.

I remember playing a lot of you noobs and just straight bombing on you cats for free with the basics that I established back when I was 8 years old. Guess what, a lot of you still fucking suck! You just don’t have it, and some of you never will even if you played 7000 hours online.

So what does that have to do with anything? A lot. Because I am going to repeat the same shit I said WAYYY back. The same people that were placing top 8 back then and are essentially the same people who place top 8 now. If I had a match against Cole in a tournament with me sober, and he is shit faced and barely able to stand, I would still put my money on Cole. That is talent. However, the NW does have talent, its just only a few of them can actually make the most of it. Some people are just better at certain things, and there is nothing wrong with that. Like I said, the only real problem here is logistics. Once a certain “spot” gets established things will get a lot better. It seems like people are willing to commit to the cause which is great.

I don’t really fault Mickey for starting this, but the approach could have used a little more refinement.

IMO, it is all in your heads. Weak minds make for soft bodies. Go do yoga or some shit, it really does work and makes me hella beast in the sack.

PS

SFIV is still garbage but keep at it.

You sure as fuck can have a Banned list at any session in the PNW. Anybody suggesting otherwise is an idiot and should stop trolling. I’m sorry, you’re just fucking wrong on that one. Getting to go to a PUBLIC ARCADE is even a privilege, not a right, as Cody noticed when they banned him from SilverCoin for a year. Getting to go to a PRIVATE RESIDENCE is a goddamned honor.

I wanted to go to the latest NCR, but timing always sucks. I don’t know many people that I feel like driving 18 hours to Cali with that want to go to that sort of thing these days. It’s way less painful to just play online, and is a much better investment of time generally. =\

I think if you’re committed to The Local Scene, you should definitely be working with the arcade manager’s directly to ensure the excellence of their controls. Back when I cared more about arcade Marvel, I know I went to the local arcades and gave them buttons (even the HUB) and offered to fix stuff up as needed. Do you care? It’s easy enough to prove it this way.

lol, story please

You have a good point. I wish I knew what exactly bothered me about the controls, though.

Why doesn’t someone just bite the bullet and buy 2 Sanwa sticks, and 12 sanwa buttons and donate them to GameWorks SFIV cab?

It’s crossed my mind now. I’m worried about giving it to them and them never actually putting it in though. Especially since Nate doesn’t work there anymore. There’s kervin though, maybe he could make sure it happened. I figured they were already sanwa parts though.

They are sanwa parts they just get wrecked and turned into gross nothingness by backwards hat mexican. It will happen again as soon as you replace them.

True, but they aren’t going to get any better by themselves.

It is indeed a bullet to bite.

I’m not saying no banned lists, just that the banned lists went from “these people are banned because they did this and this in my house” to “these people are banned because I don’t like them”. But hey, it’s not my house so you guys can do whatever you want. But just know that the fast growing trend of increased banned lists is hurting the scene.

Dude Sean will fucking RAPE you at this game.

Man up and tell BHM (OAQS?) to stop fucking up the controls. That’s what I do for Marvel.

Of course playing on bad controls is part of gaming, though. Playing through it does kind of make you better. =\

Maybe the banned people can get hungry enough that they get better and people want to have them be invited. Or maybe the banned people can learn better social skills.

if i was hosting i wouldnt just allow someone i didnt like or want to play against no matter how good they were into my home. if i wanted to play them id go to a session they were attending or go to gw, but not the place where i eat/fap/sleep/and shit.

preppy temporarily banned me for 3 months then all of you fuckers got banned hahahahahaha it stings dont it!

if you donated parts to gw im not sure if they would be allowed to use them cuz of the corporate bs.
