You don't like 3s?

Go to a tournament. That’s my crappy idea cuz I don’t get enough sunlight.

It’s not pure gambling, it’s largely strategic. It’s just that it has more guessing than I’d prefer, and objectively more guessing than SF2 games. I’m also not a huge fan of supers. I don’t like the fact that one move, if it’s one of certain supers, can beat an opponent even if that opponent has dominated the match such that he has half life and you have a pixel. I also don’t like the fact that the game designers realized this and decided that, for example, they could make up for making Hugo a slow character with few good options by giving him a super that does 60% life on most characters.

Anyway, I obviously still like 3S, which should be obvious considering how much I play it (or would like to have time to play it, anyway) and how much time I spend on these boards. It’s just that I’d prefer to be playing ST, and I’d prefer to be playing HF over that.

Whoever made the 3S = Poker analogy is a genius…Mainly because of all the risk involved in correctly reading your opponent. As DevilJin said, Just like 3S, poker gets insanely exciting to watch at high levels. (Permitting you know what’s going on and what it would take to win.) The pressure and the anxiety are what’s so addicting about it IMO.

Your correct HFSagat arguably was one of his weaker versions, still solid, but not strong like Ce/OG ver. strong for sure. TigerShots where watered down in HF comming out of Ce.

I was and never will like ST a whole lot (still a solid game as well), I agree with David in that HF is where it’s at. I do not like the fact that ST has super specials.

Can someone tell me what they mean when they say “OG”? Original?

Sorry, I’m new at this.

Yeah…you pretty much answered your own question. The actual term was made to describe the secret codes that allow you to pick the old versions of characters in Super Turbo. Like you hit jab, up, down, down, up, jab immediately after selecting Sagat to pick O.Sagat (Original aka Old Sagat) who is basically way better than regular Sagat. Sooo much so in fact that I’ve heard he’s banned in Japan. Yet J.Wong, J.Choi and others were able to use him at previous Evos and did exceptionally well with him (minus Daigo running them with ST Balrog). I really hope ST will be the OG game at next Evo. Be great to see that arcade perfect ST in action.

for some reason I always figured out OG as “old generation”

Well OG also means original gangsta so whateva.

ohhh so all the old sf2 players were black… it makes so much sense now…

Yeah…then the azns took over and now we have J.Wong.

Me Asian :lovin:

Me Sarcastic

I be black.

Sometimes the randomness can be annoying. I use Makoto and if I win due to some random luck then the victory just feels very hollow. I try to minimize the randomness as much as possible but I’m no top tier player so I think there is a lot more guessing than strategy in my game.

Michaelangelo is turtle top tier

If you’re playing as Mak you might as well accept the fact that your game is going to be based a good bit on mind games and good guesswork (or lucky guesswork, whatever). Just remember however bad you feel about it the opponent always feels worse.

Emphy randoms out Ricky all the time.

This game is about random.

Yeah! and if i land a cross up, i should get a half life, dizzy combo.

Why would you play makoto of all characters if you don’t like having to guess?

Yeah, that’s what I’m saying. Mistakes need to have consequences for strategy to mean anything.

I dont think anything is too random, I just think some characters have better offensive options that are hard to defend.
And playing defence is one of the hardest thing to do in 3s.
