I just want to speculate/clarify that the XBox One may actually be indirectly backward compatible via the HDMI In port on the XBox One. The HDMI Input port is supposed to be use for Cable boxes, but I don’t see what stopping players from plugging their 360’s HDMI out cords into the XBox One.
I mean, besides the fact that Live TV functionality doesn’t actually come packaged with the console and has to be brought separately to use it.
Still it’s better than no backward capability at all, right?
I think that’s bullshit. Quite a few developers have the delusion that used game sales are like piracy and that they deserve a cut no matter what. If Sony leaves it “in the developers hands” then every developer is going to make that choice. What’s worse is Sony not throwing down on this means they’re complicit in this bullshit too, but they just don’t want to take a hardline stance. Which is bullshit.
from what I heard, Sony has included the option for developers to do this. Worst case scenario, I see them doing online passes or something, seeing as the rage over this MS boondoggle will likely make a few big name developers at least think a little more cautiously before deciding to rape people over used game fees.
People also seem to not be mentioning how Microsoft forces you to use and have kinect (Lord help you if your kinect breaks). And Kinect is going to check a room for faces to see if you have the right amount of people to watch a movie. So no watching a movie or TV if you have a lot of friends over. Sorry, your copy of Fast & Furious only supports 2 viewers at once.
As a hobby, I collect hockey cards. I have MILLIONS, including all the big ones (full sets of everything since the 80s or so, Wayne Gretzky rookie cards, Mario Lemieux rookie cards, Patrick Roy). I can trade these, show them to my friend at his house, and O Pee Chee, Topps, and Upper Deck shut the fuck up and have no say in the matter.
If hockey cards suddenly weren’t tradeable, required me to login to a website for verification every 24 hours, and came with peripherals that HAD to be active, you better damn well believe I would find myself a new hobby.
RockyB, do yourself a favour and hop on out of this argument. You are making yourself look incredibly stupid and conceited.
no, you’re conceited when you tell people to get a job so they can afford it. Or when you insult everybody who has an opinion different than yours. Do you even understand how word of mouth works? You know how SOPA got fucking put in its place? BY PEOPLE ON THE INTERNET STATING THEIR OPINIONS AND COMPLAINING. Get a fucking clue.
And stop using the ‘gaming journalism’ excuse when a lot of the info (including the incorrect info) has come from MS themselves.
I am not on the fence. I need more info on the PS4 (i wasn’t THAT hype for it, but the alternative sucks monkey nuts). I’ll stick with PC for now. And I rarely turn on my 360 anymore. The Kinect now is a piece of hot garbage, with the only software being either dance games, or wii sports knockoffs. And the next Kinect is supposed to be better???
For example, the PS4 has more shader processor/cores in their implementation AMD’s GPU than the XBOne. The big kicker however is with the memory, GDDR5 vs DDR3. PS4 has more bandwidth but the XBOne is countering with 32MB of embedded ESRAM on die. So this difference could be the key thing that could affect how games perform on one console versus the other.
EDIT: Almost forgot, the one worrying thing about the XBOne is the “hard partitioning” between its 2 operating systems. The Windows kernel could possibly take around 1GB of RAM.
You might wanna slot the Playstation Move there too bro. Both MS and Sony tried to catch onto the whole “MOTION CONTROL!” shit and made some haphazard means of trying to cash in on it. The newer Kniect might just be good if it’s like Siri for an iPhone or “Robin” for an Android phone. I’m actually kind of excited by that feature.
First, I’m surprised that they chose One as the name, especially since this exists.
Second, last time something like this happened, it failed miserably. Then again, that was years ago; people are now used to games having tons of DLC, online passes, always-online requirements, etc. As long as it has Call of Duty or Madden, they can care less about the console’s restrictions.
