A bunch of third party titles that’ll be coming day and date on PS4, an ex-Kinect title that looks good but appears to be more of a QTE fest than any David Cage title, and their well milked thoroughbred titles. And all of that for $100 more, and the fact that you don’t own SHIT you buy for the machine. Let that hype wash ALL over you.

though Bungie is now making FPS games for PS4 now which shows how much they are losing in the long run. COD is on even on the nintendo Wii U, Halo is the only thing they got
Just wanted to say im unwatching the thread now. I kept an eye open in the event that Microsoft tried to better themselves, but considering how Sony took them out back with a loaded shotgun, there is no point no. Xbone is DOA.

As for the whole “free to play” thing is it REALLY so bad? If you were expecting to pay $60 for the game, and all of the shit adds up to $60 what’s the difference? There is none, it just “feels” bad because it’s different, and because of what MS has already done with DRM. If I had a chance to buy a fighting game I was familiar with piecemeal it may not even be all that bad seeing as I could save a few bucks on characters I’m not interested in. This really is no big deal for a single individual in a vacuum.
What REALLY sucks about this is that it’s gonna fuck up online play if everyone is allowed to play together. 80% of everyone is gonna main Jago. Eventually people are gonna get tired of that shit and go play something else. I don’t even have to elaborate on how shitty that prospect is.

IMHO the XOne games list was stronger than PS4, no doubt, still -$100 cheaper is a nice incentive, let’s be honest, there are people that can only afford 1 console, they’ll go with $400 instead of $500.
The DRM this is out of proportion (at least for me, as a player) I don’t resell games, I’ve never asked a friend to lend me X or Y game in the last 15 years, still, there are people that like to buy used games and I respect that, economy is tough on EVERYONE. But as a developer/publisher point of view, they’ve been crying for it for a long long time, they don’t see a dime of money when Gamestop resell used games and, as a developer, I would love people to buy my game, and at least if 3 - 4 people buy the same copy of it, see some profit. At the end of the day is our money, our wallets. Which brings me to this, I know Devs/publs want some profit of it, but is a lack of respect that developing a game sometimes costs more than a Hollywood movie, and that’s why we pay $60 + a game, it’s a shame. I do understand people who buy used games.
Like I said, I will buy them both (I’m not interested in a Wii U, my last N console was a 64).
BTW, expect fighters to go the way KI will go and DOA too, Team Ninja is in the same route with that free to play DOA.

its got nothing to do with being able to afford said systems. why would you be that fucking nerdy and own multiple game consoles when 1 is enough. at least it is for most people. there are the upper echelon nerds out there that will maybe buy all 3 or 5 next gen systems, good for them. personally 1 bug entertainment box in my room is more than enough, i dont need 5 consoles plugged into my tv, fuck that shit.

Don’t get it twisted, I’m not trying to champion the console, however I ‘pride’ myself in looking at the glass from both angles. Right now ALL people are talking about are the price and the DRM, when a week ago, people were talking about the games. People were complaining that “Oh they showed us what the TV functions of the XBone were but no games - go PS4!”, and now that IMO M$ has a stronger game line-up than Sony, all people are screaming is “It cost more and has DRM!”. But let’s be honest, the Kinect is $100-$150 right there, the consoles are actually priced about in line with each other. If you are the average consumer who WILL use Kinect, then the price point makes no difference at all. They are on Dance Central 4+ right now because they’ve made a ton of money off it. People here may think its a joke, but it’s not - we are not the ‘average consumer’ (well true story I’ve personally defaulted to more average, but speaking in an SRK consumer stand point). And then, as I’ve mentioned for DRM - are there aspects of it that are sucky and inconvenient? Yes. To the average Joe though? It’s not a big deal. The DRM issue is more principle than affect. Selling games to Gamestop gets you how much money? It’s never been a lucrative move for myself. I can still go over a friends house and play my game, including my save with my DLC and unlocks (like I do that anyways, reality is everyone stays their asses at home and plays over the internet).
Right now there is a ton of static with people screaming about morals instead of content. There is nothing wrong with it and I’m not complaining about it, I’m just trying to truly be objective. I’m no fan boy, I’ve had all the Sony systems + handhelds, I’ve had both M$ consoles. Fanboys are for kids with no jobs.

Meh, it doesn’t change much of anything. Killer Instinct was never some truly ‘great’ fighting - if it was, we wouldn’t have had to wait so long for someone to cut thru the red tape to resurrect it. KI is like Primal Rage, it was insane Eye Candy for it’s time with a few gimmicks in its engine that appealed to the masses. But with that said, it doesn’t change actual interest in it. People have been clamoring for KI for a decade. What are they supposed to do, re-release the joke of KI2?
Dead Rising - what does being outsourced have to do with anything…really.
The disc comment wasn’t in reference to Sony, but an improvement to current gen. Disc install was virtually useless since I still had to get up and find the damn disc in the first place. I’ve never noticed much in the way of load time improvements on any of the games I played, maybe TTT2 shrug.
I already commented on Kinect. As well the new controller essentially adds ‘Move’ abilities in now. When it comes to getting off your ass to play games, M$ is the furthest ahead at this point.
Again, I’m actually super neutral, I’m sitting back and was originally thinking ‘I’ll get a PS4 first’, then the announcements hit, and the more I thought about it, the less I felt the PS4 was truly sitting in a dominant space for the holidays. What it has going for it is more superfluous than anything else, and it’s hype train isn’t built off what’s important, the games. The price point will help it outsell the XBone initially, but its not really saving money for the average consumer.

I like how some of you keeps saying that the lolbox list of games is stronger, when outside KI, DR3 and Halo everything else is coming for both consoles.
Unless, of course Halo is that much incentive for you people 
why would you assume that everything would add up to $60 in the end? that isn’t the business of F2P. If you are expecting that $60 is going to be your cap and you are MS, then you sell the game at $60 and get all your profit up front. F2P only succeeds if you think you can get more out of people that your standard cost. development time will cost the same, since you are still doing a full dev cycle… its not like its cheaper to develop a character for some people as opposed to developing the character for all people.
F2P assumes that people love the product so much that they are willing to pay a premium that supersedes your standard retail price. if it didn’t, then you just simply charge the $60 and get money out of people who weren’t going to spend money on the extra characters. if you honestly think that everyone is going to pay for like 2-3 characters each at about $5-10 each, then MS made the wrong decision and is losing out on $30-45 per person playing their game, while still having the same dev cost and server cost. if you think the price is lower than $5-10, then MS probably won’t ever turn a profit on the game.
PS4 first, for the new games
Then, after a couple of years, after a price drop, a healthy library of exclusives, and perhaps, some rethinking of their policy, an xbox

Upgrading my pc will also probably come between the bone and the wii. Maybe between the penis4 and the bone if it takes too long to get good.
Right now PS4 has the strongest line up with WiiU being second. KI isn’t a killer app nor has it proven to be better than Vanilla SF4 atm lets be 100% right now. Dead Rising looks awesome but there is a big chance it will be a timed exclusive. This gen saw a ton of 3rd party “exclusives” from MS head to PS3.

Honestly after reading everything you’ve said it has become clear you don’t have all the info yet. MS is in a very embarrassing position right now and this is coming from someone who has no true brand loyalty atm. If I’m getting screwed or the games suck I’m passing.
