Bought thousands of licenses of XP, then again with Vista, then again with Windows 7 (didn’t deploy thousands of Windows 8 but bought them, won’t be making the same mistake for their next release). Since Microsoft decided to now sell inferior operating systems they will miss out. Also I’m only talking about the organizations I’m affiliated with, not even talking about my friend who has thousands of servers that provide services worldwide and is now planning his transition from Microsoft Servers to Red Hat Enterprise. They’re also looking for non-Microsoft solutions for the client computers and not just the servers.
Microsoft has publicly announced how the XBoxOne will screw over gamers. You’re right, gaming is an investment, and Microsoft just motivated me not to invest into the XBoxOne as a subset of my gaming investments.

Alright first off I do thing bringing concern is a way for constructive criticism however to address the points made above I what’s causing the hostility towards Xbox one is perhaps unfamiliarity to the features beyond regrets my phrased quite mines that gaming journalist use to spike hits. What I will say once more is that progress is a scary thing and while it might not be perceived as universally beneficial, it doesn’t mean it’s anti-consumer. MS is aware of the problems but it’s a business that also has to take risk from time to time, apart of progress is risk taking after all.
Secondly MS operating systems are being worked on continuously to assure optimal performance so I feel companies stitching their brands might be prematurely jumping ship before awaiting updates that could remedy the problems customers have complained against…just my 2 cents of course but anyways I understand the opinions but I just hope people wait till E3 before being absolutely conclusive. That’s all ill say for now till we get closer to the reveals.
What I found out might be disturbing and I hope this is only rumor and conjecture.
The So-called paying for licensing of used games on the Xbone is up to the publisher’s discretion, as in if the Publisher wants zero used game sales they not even allow the option for you to buy a new license so you can reused used merchandise. That means companies like EA and Ubisoft is going to force you to buy a new copy every time you want new title.
What bothers me is not reusing used games in itself but how this is a clear violation of the First Sales Doctrine, a fundamental and valid part of Copyright law.
It basically states that if you buy something (anything) you are free to do as you wish with that item (within realm of you are not hurting anyone) until you no longer wish to still own that item, and then at your discretion you can decide to sell it, trade it, give it away, dispose of it or destroy it. What this DRM does it restricts your legal rights to do with a physical piece of software as you wish.
I have no issues with copy-protection in general. Serial keys on PC software, fine when you give up your PC game to sell, trade or give away you include the serial key with your disk as you delete the install on your hard drive, easy no issues. But the day there are software restrictions on how I can sell, trade or give away my own physical property there is going to be an issue.
Is EV000 just a sample of how M$ will troll uneducated consumers into getting these units into the living room? So much for lurking here for the news, updates and intelligent discussion.

Do you know why I bought a PS1? Because I liked how I could buy games I liked and play them anywhere and anytime I want.

The way I read it was that loaning and selling games will not be available at launch. The console already has everything locked down but its left up to the publishers if they want to unlock it. A deal hasnt been struck yet between M$, publishers and game retailers hence no trading or selling for an undetermined time.
They are trying to take any and all control from us.
