The reasons I’ve read from people amount to hysteria from 2nd hand sources. All I said was that to have a fully informed opinion we should wait till E3, and I proceeded to list examples of past"fuck ups"to explain why I think MS should be given a chance. Instead I get Sony and Nintendo fanboys calling me a idiot while ignoring that innovation has always carried considerable hostility and criticism.
At paid M$ spokestroll. Its not that we are afraid of this change. Its that we completely disagree with/reject/resent/hate it and everything it stands for on all accounts. Also laughed my motherfucking ass off at you saying we cant embrace progress. What the fuck are you? Albert Wesker? GTFO with that mad scientist speak. Weve been embracing progress for seven generations of console gaming. We arent embracing Xbone because it progresses jack shit outside of Microsofts bank accounts
Speaking as if some random motherfuckers on a fighting game forum are my peers. Im not that pathetic thank you very much.
I only buy something for entertainment if I know I will love it for a long time, or if i can sell it off to try and cut some losses.
I bought an arcade stick. That is something for entertainment that will last me a very long time
I bought a gaming headset. That is something that will benefit me in games, and there really is nothing to not like about them out side of a few nitpicks here and there.
I went and bought Skate 3 today. I got no clue if I will keep it in the long run or not. But that doesnt matter. Because like the other two gaming items above, if i decide i dont want/like it anymore I can sell it to whoever the fuck i want and get it out my face.
With Xbone i do not have that option. Every time you buy a game it will be like getting married with no chance of divorce. What if I have not participating post sale retailers in my area? Im stuck forever with something that i did not enjoy. No one will buy it from me otherwise because they will have to pay another fee anyway, so theyd rather buy a new copy. I wouldnt have the ability to cut losses. In a somewhat tight economy I dont feel comfortable having to give a $60 blood contract to microsoft for something i might despise. Sometimes its not even that i hate a game. Its that it has no replay value. I enjoyed Mirrors Edge and Asuras Wrath. Did I play them a second time through? Fuck no i didnt. They offered me no reason to play it after the first time. So i sold it and got some cash back. I shouldnt have to make such a ridiculous dedication to something that should be nothing more than a fucking hobby
Also no i havent tested out the console, but im sure that you have in between sessions of sucking off major nelson and defending this abomination of a console on the internet.
I dont need to test out the console when the producers of the product themselves are telling me everything about it while holding back just a little bit of what they say. Right now I dont like a single piece of the product they are trying to sell me, and as such i will not be buying the Xbone
Anytime you buy something it’s a investment. It could be a dollar or a few hundred dollars but point is that a purchase is a investment. We know that gaming has been a exceptionally more pricey investment so it stands to reason that the consumer must be fully informed and committed to his investments if he decides to spend money on a game. People are non-committal because everyone believes they shouldn’t be held accountable if they make a mistake, but if you buy something well behind your budget then the ownership of that decision and it’s consequences rest on you the consumer…it isn’t be publishers fault or microsofts fault if you don’t like the game you willfully spend 60$ on.
You also admitted your impression of this console has nothing to do with personal experience but rather what you heard or read from other people. As such if you don had direct physical experience with the system your opinion can at best be only speculative and possibly ignorant. You also forgot to mention that when you buy the game you can still trade to a friend which to me says that MS is putting more pressure on consumers to be informed and educated on their financial investments…who complains about a company who is actually trying to teach you to be smart about where your money goes. Anyways like I’ve stated multiple times, wait till E3 before you come to any rash conclusions and I’m sure you might think differently.
*You’re a educated consumer that is fine with these unfavorable changes that is detrimental for consumers. That’s fine. You’re entitled to your opinion. However I (and many others) are not fine with these companies trying to subtly (and quite clever I might add)undermine copywrite law safety valves that limits the very constrictions that they’re trying to subvert. Furthermore this is a crucial ongoing discussion as we as a society go further into the digital age and as new .
To say “right of first ownership” is pointless is short sided of you friend. Since it allows you to not only resell whatever good you bought previously but it also allows you to give it away or modify it as you see fit. Without it there would be no used car market, no movie/video game rentals, no buying second hand college books, hell we wouldn’t have libraries. These are all protected under that rule and the video game industry is trying to subvert it. However we as consumers have the option of saying “no we shall not stand for this” by not buying their products should we choose to not stand for it. I (and hopefully many others) will, you my don’t have to.
As for being scared of change that’s a pretty humorous recrimination on your part. Since fear of change is what the Console market is scared of the most right now. Scared to lower the cost of developing titles, scared of the mobile market, scared of lower profit margins, scared of risks. I on the other hand love change. I loved the change to cease cell phone roaming fees and monthly minimums on debit cards.
What the fuck is this has anything to do with the Xbox one? Gamecube and N64 quality issues have less to do with anti-consumer. This is more about their problem about not having updated technology that matches Sony or Xbox consoles. Yes it’s a strong reason why people haven’t bought Nintendo console out of the gate. However Nintendo strong suit is their first party library, and cheap prices. The fact that you call them “terrible” doesn’t not help your case. It’s hilarious that you believe anything Nintendo has done is anti-consumer.
Xbox one’s problem is much different than Nintendo modern consoles, when MS are essentially giving people crappy deals with no alternative advantages. Yes this is anti-consumer because Xbox one has made it clear that they want maximize profit of their product. They are doing so by limiting the options that the consumers has after buying the product. Compared to what Valve gives, Xbox One is just fucking terrible. MS want people to buy a used game almost as much as the original title. MS have never tried to calm people’s angry by offering good deals. Yes DRM are not new, but however Xbox one is just asking for too much to deserve a purchase.
These practices aren’t new, but the mentality is idiotic and counter initiative.
Get it? The issue with Xbox’s bullshit DRM is that they are essentially treating consumers like jailmen. Mircosoft is vastly decreasing the value of buying a product. As of right now, there is no benefit whatsoever buying this shit over PS4’s mutiplat title. Imagine if you were buy a PS4’s COD vs PC’s COD vs Xbox One’s COD. PS4/PC doesn’t have you go through the amount of loops that you do with Xbox one. You not forced to connect online everyday. You not forced to use the fucking kinect for everything. So PS4/PC’s COD:Ghost has more value as right now because Xbox one’s console gives you so little to work with.
So as of right now, you have to be retarded to purchase a xbox one’s COD ghost as far as what we know.
What the fuck is this nonsense about being people having to hold their judgement. You didn’t see people holding their judgement when the Wii U, if it looked like shit and people will call you out for it. You didn’t see people like be a white knight, and trying to mindlessly defend the Wii U. Everybody has a right to their opinion, you can’t stop that.
This Bandwagon fallacy does not make any company immune to criticism, and nothing is guaranteed in this generation, the past, or in the future. Every company must earn their respect of the consumers if they want to win. Any company can rise and fall, so I don’t understand about the crap you are pulling off you ass. Microsoft can fall in their ass like everybody, nothing you say will change that.
TR:DR version.
A shitty console can fuck up a good game, and a consumer has every right to vote with their money.
You still haven’t explained how this “innovation” helps the community like blu-ray and 3D did. Why should I and everyone else wait for more COD and TV announcements when we already know that we can’t use said piece of shit, let alone actually own what we’re paying for.
