Considering they made a Bango game last year (or the year before) i doubt it’s Banjo. Also considering it was ass, i don’t see reason to get excited for RARE anything.
People say that KI is gonna be at E3 for the past 10 years. Ki is the Dallas Cowboys of FGs, haven’t been relevant since the 90’s and now its always their year and every year its the same damn story.
I bought Ultimate Mortal Kombat Kollection back in the day on XBL. Then Midway went under, and that game was no longer available. Yeah, that was a great waste of money. Same with all the backgrounds and customizations that got swept under the rug when Microsoft decided I would rather see tons and tons of fucking advertisements every time I turn on my console.
The worst part is, this is the only fucking market pulling this. Movies, books, houses, cars, art, clothes, furniture, etc etc etc. NONE OF THESE MARKETS DO THIS NONSENSE!!! But gaming, oh noes, we can’t let somebody do something as simple as take a product they’ve purchased and go to a friends house and play it there without a hassle. If anybody else tried this shit, heads would fucking roll. I still expect to see a ton of MS exec’s get the chop (or more likely, “resign” or get “moved to other projects”) before this is said and done.
This is the same company that released early versions of Metro to the public, got ripped apart for it, then launched it anyways, and had to release a service pack to get rid of Metro because of public outcry. They are also being called responsible for killing PC sales (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/04/10/windows-8-sales_n_3055157.html) due to Metro being such a piece of shit.
This is the same company that leaked the Always On news, had the entire internet shit on them in pure furious rage, had to fire their creative director over it, THEN STILL WENT AHEAD WITH IT.
The original Microsoft Xbox was launched with the expectation that it would fail, and lose them money, so long as they could get a foothold on the market. They will do the same here. The people running Microsoft now are businessmen, not tech geeks or gamers or anybody with any inkling of common sense. These are people who want money and nothing else, and are willing to fuck over anything in there path for a buck.
There is no coming back from this. Even if they do a full 180 and apologize and say that shit will get fixed, I have already lost my faith. This current gen was a fucking huge fuckup and got worse and worse year by year. This next gen is already a fucking slap in the testicles and face, and I want nothing to do with Microsoft at all. I was a proud defender of them for 2 console generations, but this is just too much.
I hope they know there are more games out there other than first-person shooters and sports games. I mean, not everyone plays and/or cares for them. Halo’s not bad, though. However, the camera and microphone are always on? I’m sure people wanted to buy a game console, not a brand new security system. This will probably ensue (if it actually does with a camera and mic):
Pretty much reiterates what everyone had already gathered, that “the cloud” is just MS’ brand of Blast Processing. Some ideas are practical (offshooting lighting & NPC AI functions), but would hardly mitigate the gap in hardware power.
They bring up a good point regarding developer adoption though. Unless XBOne sells gangbusters, how many 3rd parties are really going to allocate resources to write cloud-specific functions when they can just use the same conventional methods (local processing) they need to develop for PC/PS4 anyways? It’s like expecting 3rd party studios to go above & beyond with Sony’s ass-backwards Cell architecture when the PS3 had the lowest adoption rate. Only very few of them could be bothered, most just took what worked on 360/PC & shoehorned it in.
That despite the negative tone, it’s pretty accurate. I look at myself, I hardly ever play games these days, and when I do the shit is Skylanders har, but I fall in line with people who at least ‘were’ hardcore - and on the flip I now am at the age where I have ‘disposable income’. So I mean my Wii died…I went ahead and bought a Wii U to replace it. I know that I won’t play much of any new game as I have PS2 games I haven’t gotten to yet, there is absolutely nothing that I’m excited about for EITHER new console game wise. EA sport titles can eat a baby dick…I just don’t care. I’m done with CoD until someone tells me they are ‘updating’ MW2 with new maps and guns but keeping the same gameplay. But when the time comes.
I’ll prolly buy a PS4.
And then one day…
I’ll buy a XBOne. The only reason I wouldn’t? Kinect. I don’t like shit being forced on me…which as pointed out by Soviet methinx, I never migrated to Win8…fux a Metro. For me though, a ‘hub’ would be something I’d succumb to buying. The big flaw in his thinking is that there is something unique from an all-in-one perspective for the XBOne. There isn’t short of DVR. Switching to use my default cable box is nothing, I have a Blu-ray player (PS3) that also does Netflix and Amazon Prime, and when I want I cna turn on a game. The only major flaw with the PS3 is their stupid form of updating and installing preventing me from doing what I want to do quickly at times, and their SUPER shitty interface. So what beyond the PS3 does the XBOne bring to the table?
