I don’t know why Devs and Publishers are so against the 2nd hand market when that market exists for virtually ever other kind of media. I guarantee you if the big Hollywood studios said “No, you cannot resell or purchase or rent a 2nd hand DVD/Blu with paying a fee.” that the general public would flip their shit.

Oddly enough, I’m not even sure how this will play out in terms of sales… this system should end up being a worse bomb than CDi… but then you remember how ignorant (and stupid) and shortsighted most people are…

Assuming Sony doesn’t announce that the PS4 is also a DRM box that watches you in your sleep and makes all of your physical media worthless I don’t see MS recovering from this.

No amount of exclusive would draw back the core audience and the general inconvenience of the thing would drive away everyone else.

Based on what I’ve been reading over at NeoGAF, it seems that Sony is likely playing a wait and see game, judging people’s response to the XBOne announcements before making a decision of their own.

Which is an incredibly smart move. Sometimes the best play one can make is to just wait and let the opposition bury itself.

HOWEVER, Sony is also in a very precarious position. By not implementing the DRM, while that would make all of us ecstatic and much more likely to buy their system, it could also potentially piss off developers who were excited to finally deal with the secondhand trade they hated so much.

I don’t see a move where Sony doesn’t piss one side off so they really have to sit and think about how they’ll approach this.

What are they gonna do? Not put their games on the PS4? Dandy, but now look at the failure xbox one is looking to be. You bet your ass that if they implement DRM less people will buy an xbox.

So if Sony says it they better hold that shit.

Yeah well, we’ll see which side calls the bluff. Because any system is only as good as its games.

I’m not going to buy a X1 at all but I’m not going to buy the PS4 blindly out of a moral stance. If there’s nothing decent to play on it, I won’t bother.

Now I don’t think that most developers would go to the extremes of saying that the PS4 will get no games from them unless they implement the DRM…but if there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that the VG industry can be EXTREMELY petty. So I won’t put it completely past them.
