Real talk. My local Wal Mart doesn’t even bother trying to carry most games anymore because peeps had rather drive to a gamestop out of town. The last major release that our store even really stocked up on was Modern Warfare 3 and they had like literally dozens of copies taking up rows upon rows on the store shelves with like even more copies stocked up elsewhere. Now when a game comes out they carry only like a maximum of 5 copies because shit like that just doesn’t sell there anymore unless it’s xmas time.
The Gamestop president already came out in support of the new XBox One, so there definitely going to be carrying it.
From the omission in the article, it sounds like the President is hoping that people that buy used games don’t learn about the additional fee until they get home. I wouldn’t be surprised, there have been may times the clerks suggested I buy a game used often neglecting to mention that the used game requires a additional license to play the game online.
You know what infuriates me about this whole “lets kill the used games industry because they hurt developers” is that most of this so-called retrieved revenue most probably isn’t even going to the developers but the publishers instead. Its always been the same with the movie industry and the music industry because all of these initiatives aren’t to protect the artists or developers and they hurt consumers.
So wait, I’m a little confused about this used game policy. Let’s say I buy a used game at Gamestop for half price, does it mean I still have to pay near full price to play it online?
what a weird reaction. strange to think there are people out there more motivated to buy a wii U not for its own merits but for a yet to be released console’s apparent shortcomings.
Cause you’re not getting fucked over with the WiiU. It also doesn’t help that Microsoft is flip flopping so much on this and changing up word to make it seem like it isn’t that bad when it is.
-You buy the game and you can install it at no cost with the disc. Meaning that you don’t need the disc to play it.
-The disc can be used to boot games when the game is “used on another console”
-Once the game is installed on another console and take the disc with you, if your friend wants to access it, he can pay the game and it will work like a “Game on Demand”
All of these measures will be negated by modders anyway.*
*Chachi does not condone the act of modding or compromising your warranty by opening your console to do pretty shit to it. If you wish to mod your Xbone, practice on your PC first.
There is no “can” install. There is only a “must” install.
The game disk can be used to boot AND automatically be installed on another console and can be played when signed into the original owner’s gamertag.
Regardless of what is done with the disk, if your friend wants to play after you leav, he must either sign in with your gamertag or pay some indeterminate amount of money.
As of the moment yes…GS holds the majority hold over all game sales. Places like Walmart, Target and what not don’t get nearly as much revenue from games and they don’t really care either because they sell other things that make far more profit.
