The argument you are making isnt new. It is a carbon copy of all the people who love something that is own little joint and then cry ‘sellout’ when the business expands to cater to a broader demographic. This happens in almost every industry (as should be apparent by you movie link thing). Just like every person has an inherent desire to better his life (as he sees fit), every business/organization has an inherent desire to expand to gain a greater market share. And by every single time, almost without exception. Hahaa, It is the reason MTv plays sitcoms, the reason SxT was confirmed for Evo, the reason the govt bailed out the banks, etc…
Usually this acts to expand this particular market and allow smaller nichje developers to come in and fill perceived voids. And right on time, look what is happening to the FG genre.
If a VG maker is selling something that the customer base wants, it doesnt make sense to blame either party. Blaming the merchant doesnt make sense because they are giving people what they want and blaming the customer doesnt make sense because who are you to say that their desires are invalid . The best one can do is continually call people idiots(mind control!) and ‘capitalism is evil!". The argument really cant evolve from there. Unless you consider ‘obvious thievery’, ‘obvious s***y econ’, "morons dont know what they want’ more salient pionts.

Also, the industry went to shit when western devs who originally produced games for the PC sold out and mass produced games with big cinematic, and no gameplay.
Not happening. Microsoft’s rapport with their gaming clientele is still wounded due to the hardware issues this generation. Console developers will most likely continue with the “online pass” route from this generation to appease developers who lose money from used sales.

No. Multiplatforms are good. Shitty ports are the problem. You can have good multiplat games on PC as long as they want to do a bit more developing for the platform, but they don’t.

The console itself will be cool, they are always fine and its really only lacking the ability to play blu-ray and surf the web.
M$ has stamped the Indie market and i hope it plays a bigger role in the next gen.

A couple of the highest grossing games not just of this generation of consoles, but of all time were Wii games. Just saying.
People do need to look at the bigger picture when it comes to games. The hardcore audience is only a small fraction of the buying power in the US and that largely consists of the 13-28 year old demographic.
Sure the Wii wasn’t as great for the experienced gamer, but for casual gamers it was fun.
Yeah, I know PC will always have stuff like best graphics, platform exclusives, and a bunch of stuff console gamers can only wish we had, but I don’t think anybody can deny that part of console gaming’s appeal over PC gaming is that generally, the system/controllers/games total is cheaper than stuff for a PC like graphics cards, sound cards, RAM, Hard Drives, etc. It may not be a main one, or something that is a deal breaker for some people, but it’s certainly something in the back of some people’s minds.
This shit is going to drive game sales into the ground. lmao. People buy games based on five things: Developer/Publisher, Reviews, Word of Mouth, borrowing games from their friends, and strangely enough, title/artwork.
Word of Mouth and test time are far more effective than any of the others. What incentive do people have to buy games they can’t experience before they drop sixty fucking dollars?
Does anybody really want to shell out more than $600 for a PC just to play shitty fps’, rts’, and wrpg’s so they can have “amazing” graphics.
