Ahh…I gotcha. This seems to be the way how things are going to go at the moment though. From the looks of things so far more companies may be looking for some way to influence you from getting the game second-hand. I understand what EA is doing from a business perspective but at the same time I’m looking at this thing in comparison to other forms of media and thinking is there some other way they can go about this? I don’t think this is going to stop either because I think it’ll just come back in various forms unless people actually try to perform a full on boycott and I can’t see that happening…especially with Madden.

Yup, I remember you mentioning this a couple of months ago. I don’t buy any sports games from EA so it doesn’t affect me (though I was going to buy TW11…but not now). I really wonder how many people buy used sports games though, I know some people wait to get the last years version when the new one comes out, but seeing that sports games drop in price rather quickly compared to other games, I doubt the effect will be that big.

Actually, I’d imagine it would increase it. People will still be trading the games in, but nobody will be buying used anymore.
I don’t imagine that it would take long of people avoiding a particular publisher’s games for GameStop to catch on…

Between this and Bodycount and with previous underrated cult classics The Club and 50 Cent Blood On The Sand, while Serious Sam 1st and 2nd Encounters are on Live, there is a lot of love for the arcadey style shooter despite high profile Call of Duty/Halo/Battlefield/Ghost Recon/etc. games that are out there. That pleases me.
Really though, Bulletstorm looks like Bioshock and The Club had a baby.
It’s ironic that this is happening after I made a thread about it a month ago. I’ll see if I can grab the link. Something like “Do game companies really want to stop piracy or the used game market”. This falls into the latter. It was the same stupid shit Sony was pulling with socom on the PS3. It’s designed to gut the used game market and get the publisher paid no matter what. That’s it. It’s total fucking bullshit. And I think it’s even more fucked up that they can do this to Live users who are already paying to play online.
As a personal caveat, I don’t really play sport games. I haven’t been an EA hater or anything along those lines but I really don’t like this move and it makes me question how many EA titles I’ll be purchasing in the future. I really hope they don’t pull this shit for Mass Effect 3.

Hey I don’t feel that way at all. I’ve played all of them. It’s no where near trash, it just lacks that bouncy kinetic feel and pumping music. It could use more backgrounds though.
