I realize that a lot of you still want to talk about games, so let’s just keep it that way. We’ve never really had any system bashing in here, but I’m still posting what I did in the PS3 thread to cover all bases.
As far as the FAQ, I’ll be redoing it. If anybody wants to help, let me know. It’s been out of date for a while.
Same here. I know im late but I just picked up Raiden IV and Raiden Fighter Aces after trading in a few games to gamestop with that 50% deal thats currently going on.
If you have questions or issues with the new rules post them here
Don’t clutter up the console threads with this stuff, let’s keep them focused on consoles. (not that this thread has done that yet, but I’m trying to be fair)
Just Cause 2 seems like another classic to me. Things were off to a great start in the demo when I completely botched my first jump from that hill or mountain…it was absolutely hilarious to me…my character fell/slid/bounced all the way down the hillside.
It’s still surprising to me that a simple grappling hook is a rare item and gameplay mechanic…well, finally JC2 lets us have that grapple-hook fun. It seems like you can use it on just about anything within reasonable distance. Also, hooking people to various objects is always good for a laugh. I had one guy hooked onto a wall by his nuts. It’s also funny to snatch people off a motorcycle with those grapple-hook shenanigans.
vaporware is always amusing to me… I was just checking out the Huxley and Champions Online forums again for a few laughs. I like to see the commentary of folks who still have hope even when everyone else has given up and walked away.
Playing through Magna Carta 2 and just had a hell of a time with leviathan boss. Asshole does a AOE reducing my HP on all my characters to at least 15-20% health on top of his normal attacks and debuffs. I had to spam group healing items to get through that fight.
I feel really ‘cheap’ for item whoring but whatever, theres almost no punishment for it as far as I know.
Character art is alright, the VAs are ok, and at least in this game its not dubbed which is nice so the characters don’t look retarded. Although I have to say Juto’s sister proportions, especially the space between her eyes, is ridiculous.
The quests you can pick up to boost your money/exp as you go through the game is nice. Most quests have you go to areas on your way to major event points in the game’s story, so most are hardly a hassle at all to do.
I like the quest system ala Mass Effect and WoW. It gives you options on what you want to do if you want to do them and gives nice rewards for completing them. If you don’t want to fuck around with them, it’s your choice.
Not sure if I like the battle system much. Its made so that you’d actually have to control more than one character in a group to provide extra damage and to prevent melt down like effect on a character going ‘tired’ but sometimes the setup can be tedious/annoying.
Theres some other gripes about the game I have but its pretty minor. Right now the games pretty average in my book. Not the best game but its good enough.
LOL vaporware I forgot about that word, I remember sep said he said that’s what Alan Wake was. I can’t wait for that game if for no other reasons it’s by Remedy and plot sounds like it has lots of potential.
If it doesn’t become one of the best selling xbla games I’ll be stunned. I also hope this re release reminds people how shitty goldeneye really is.
I have been saying Goldeneye is shitty for years. The only thing I enjoyed in that game were the proximity mines. Playing Brutal Legend right now, not even doing the main quests. I am just driving around trying to find as much extra shit as possible.
I’m thinking about buying myself a 360 here soon. Well, maybe not exactly soon, having lost my job, but I really do want one. May I ask what are some good 360 exclusives and such that I should look out for?

I loved Goldeneye I played the hell out of MP just like everyone else but by today’s standards it’s garbage in every aspect except maybe the music. Anyways the last part of your post is hilarious because most developers don’t take into account that many gamers have been trained by old school rpg’s to scour every inch of every game they play just to get an edge against that upcoming boss and this scrounging instinct remains with us today so games like RE4 and Dead Space are not as challenging as intended.
-Blue Dragon: Made by the team who made Chrono trigger (basically a mix of FF and DQ devs). Character art by akira toriyama. Very colorful, very artistic, and fun to play in general. Lots of different options for class choices.
-Culdcept Saga: I don’t think there’s a single other poster on the forum who really knows about this. Basically it’s a combination of Magic the Gathering and Monopoly. Each player (up to 4) takes turns rolling dice and moving a long a multicolored board. When you land on a space you can put down a monster for a small cost of gold. If someone lands on your space, they have to pay you a fee or attempt to fight your monster. If they attempt to fight you each get the opportunity to use items to boost attack or defense of your monsters. If your opponent kills your monster he gets the space. Whoever collects X amount of money wins the overall game. You get new cards win or lose every game and you can customize and build multiple styles of decks. Online play too. Great party game.
-Condemned: First person horror-esque game. You explore a city gone mad. Most of the combat is melee oriented, and you can use most anything you can find. (lead pipes, piece of wood, bat, hatchet, sledgehammer, etc) Each weapon has advantages and disadvantages (power, speed, etc) so you can use whichever ones fit your style best. Guns are rare if ever seen, but you do have a tazer that you can use to stun enemies or stall for time. Lots of creepy shit and dark environments with stuff jumping out at you. I honestly haven’t finished this because the game straight up made me jump hella bad last time I played it. Felt like my heart was gonna explode.
-Dead Rising: Sort of a free roaming exploration game, sort of not. Essentially you are trapped in a mall with thousands of zombies. Anything you can see is a weapon including outrageous stuff like soccer balls, trout, lawn mowers, golf clubs. You get special moves and abilities when you level up including moves like Zangiefs lariat or other capcom nods.
-Gears of War: It’s not revolutionary. It’s decent and has some fun moments. Guns that have chainsaw bayonets are my favorite part. The co-op is a blast and the level design is very grand. Game is relatively short so I’d recommend a rental.
-Left 4 dead: Vastly inferior to the pc version sadly but it’s still a great game. 4 player co-op survival against hordes of enemies. Level design is completely random so you never play the same level twice. Teamwork is huge as you can be stuck hanging off a cliff or get knocked to the ground and need to be helped back up by a teammate before you fall or bleed out. Versus mode enables you to play as the varied cast of zombies and pit yourself against other players taking control of the survivors. Great game, and you owe it to yourself to at least try it.
-Mass Effect: I’m not a huge fan of this game but I still think most people will enjoy it. Completely customizable classes, stats, characters, back stories, and teammates. You have a huge amount of options given to you as a player. Additionally you can steer dialogue anyway you want to with multiple speech paths/options. Multiple endings and good/evil paths allow and encourage multiple play throughs. Large budget game with stunning visuals and great voice work/sound.
-Prey: You can probably find this for super cheap now. This game was in development for so long it was compared to duke nukem forever. Many thought it would never release. Well it did, and it’s great. It took you out of typical shooter duldrums by introducing portal combat, fully 3d combat in the sense that you could walk on certain walls and that gravity wasnt always there. Or gravity switches that would reverse or simply change the gravity of a room. Puzzles can be solved using your “spirit form” basically an astral projection leaving your body. While in the spirit form sometimes bridges only available to your spirit form self will appear so that you can get across dead ends, etc. When you die you go to a sort of purgatory where you fight off demons and once you kill enough you are returned to where you died. I found this much less frustrating and infinitely more fun than a simple game over screen. Very creative.
-Viva Pinata: This is one of the best if not the single best exclusive for the 360. Im not even kidding. A lot of people get bugs up their butt about kiddy/family oriented games but this game is crack fucking cocaine. It plays similarly to games like animal crossing, harvest moon, or the sims, if that gives you any ideas. You start out with a small, vacant plot of dirt but slowly expand it to a farm of pinatas that you raise and care for. Certain pinatas fight or will even kill each other so you have to manage a lot to avoid losing them. Sometimes they get sick as well. You can also breed them to make more. Tons of options, and colorful graphics. You can sink tons of hours into this.
That’s all I can think of for actual console games and not XBL games. I’ve been out of touch with 360 to some extent so forgive me if I neglected to mention a few notable ones. Hopefully you read some of this so I’m not wasting my time XD.
