yeah when it comes down to it, I like the idea of Marvel a lot more than I actually like the game itself. The freedom and flexibility is awesome which to me makes it all that much more frustrating that it all boils down to the same stupid shit over and over again.
I am going to give Skullgirls a shot even though I hate the aesthetic they went with… I’m hoping its a compelling fighter and gets a good scene going. Of all the FGs coming out I have the highest hopes for Persona Ultimate Arena, though…
Sure, I’d love to see new vids! As for max damage stuff, lots of those in the combo thread, Sakeido, Easiertorun and others’ve been putting in work.
I’m going to be honest, I dislike how the changes to the overall game have affected the way I’m used to using X-23. 'Cause of the histun deteoriation increase, it’s harder to extend combos without using an OTG if I want to reach max damage and I can’t seem to extend with Jam Session anymore like I used to.
Though I understand why they did it, I dislike the meter gain nerfs, which make it harder to reach Silent Kill. I could run resets/not finish combos with hypers, but personally, against certain chars, I just wanna put them away 'cause one mess up into their easy-mode ABC combos and X-23’s done.
So right it feels like I have to choose between having a team with a projectile assist+OTG/extension assist from characters I don’t think’ll fit(GhostRider) or particularly like using(Wesker) or sticking to the old style with a projectile assist+lockdown assist for Silent Kill, but working harder to achieve Silent Kill plus lack of assist extensions. Honestly, OTG+Projectile assist’s winning out right now and I feel like I should stop pussying-out and just pick Wesker/projectile-assist. I’d use Viper, but I simply don’t have the execution to do Seismo chains, otherwise, yeah, that sort everything out.
Her normal damage output(disregarding XF and DHC glitch) flew up and she got neato buffs. So at least there’s that.
Until I can figure out what my team with X-23 should be, I’m gonna focus on making a sub team around a new char(Rocket Raccoon.)
I’m also looking forward to the Persona fighting game next year. Looking to main the MC character(Yu.)
I felt the way about Vanilla the way you feel now about Ultimate. Ultimate is the only new game that feels old enough for me. SFIV is too new school and the situations in that game aren’t punishing enough for my tastes. Not much else is out that people are gonna play yet except KOF13 and although I really wanna get into that I doubt people are gonna take seriously for very long.
Skullgirls is the best bet for me now outside of this game. I love the high frames of animation that are in the game and the character designs are unique and I at least credit them for doing something different rather than conforming to muscle men designs. I always have a thing for games that aren’t afraid to do something different outside of the gameplay and that’s another reason why I always liked 3S. It was different for SF even on a visual and musical standpoint.
I’ll have to check out this Persona game ur talkin bout.

Haha, how’s that going? Thinking of using Rocket with Sent and anyone else with a projectile/beam assist.
Going great. I’m using RR (Pendulum) + Dr Doom (Plasma Beam) + Sentinel (Drones). RR on point is undeniably a risk, but I wanted a team where he is the star of the show. The drones are perfect for him. If you have your opponent locked down by the drones, RR has so much time to perform mixups, and you’re well aware of his mixup potential. The opponent should practically have to guess because reacting to j.S is practically impossible. Just as you stated that you need a beam assist, I am using Dr. Doom. Plasma Beam + Teleport = fullscreen mixup.
My strategy requires that RR stays alive. All I need is one knockdown, then comes a mixup with drones, which leads to either a throw reset setup (i need to post them, they’re pretty good) or another knockdown, which is followed up by the beam. Lather, rinse, repeat!

I was just wondering if anyone has found a way to get Hawkeye’s poison tip assist to OTG for X-23 combos in the corner. Otherwise, all I’ve found with it is just to use it to get more damage off of X-23’s forward air grab and it adds the unscaled poison damage on top of her combos.
Also, out of Hawkeye’s assists, which one tends to be the more useful? It seems to me like triple arrow is the best, but I’m just wondering everyone else’s opinions.
Triple arrow is the best easily. It’s one of the fastest starting horizontal assists in the game so it gives her easy mode 50/50’s with her M feint as soon as you get relatively close to your opponent. Poison arrow OTG starts up too slow for my tastes.
X-23 and Nova might be BFFF
unblockables like crazy. Nova works to get in, set up mixups and he is a great combo extender too. he works really well in mixups especially if you use air resets because of the floor bounce. unlike a lot of wall bounce assists he is really easy to work into combos anywhere on screen. using him & wesker X-23 can 1 touch most of the chars you really want dead in one combo (mags, storm, vergil, zero, firebrand, felicia) for one bar. you can do combos that build about 1.75 bars too. X-23 to Nova is enough to kill anyone with less than 1.05 mil
then nova just destroys people without needing any special assist extensions… he’s pretty interesting. lots of unblockable potential with him and X-23 too
dunno what would work well for 3rd with them. wesker for combos and dark wesker but strange, strider, akuma would all work pretty well too
I’m probably gonna x-copy your team lol. I dislike Sentinel gameplay-wise(very clunky IMO) but I can’t deny he works really well with RR. Same with Doom.
As for Nova and X-23, yeah, why not, I’ll probably pick him up, 'cause I’m pretty desperate for a new X-23 team at this point lol. Maybe X-23, Nova and Doom for extra cover.
mind explaining this Nova/X23 synergy some more?
also, how do you think Doom work for 3rd with them?
Nova’s centurion rush assist hits as an overhead so you can do unblockables all the time with X-23. it also has a lot of hit & blockstun so you can use it to start a normal hit confirm or start your pressure, set up a left/right mixup or a fuzzy guard high/low or something. you’ve got canned setups in the corner, c.H + Nova, qcf+M for unblockables… midscreen I was using c.H feint cancel dash up into more lows as Nova comes out. mostly since X-23 can always get herself back into position with mirage feint or just dashes if you can get Nova to come out and force the other guy to stay grounded you get an unblockable.
then Nova can benefit from X-23’s assist… his S sets it up so that X-23 will always reach unlike say after Wesker air series midscreen. he can really use unblockables too because he has nice overheads but he has no fast low hitting move… just his slide.
doom would work to get you another alternative to get in. your combo damage would go down though. I think the team would benefit more from a lockdown type assist than it would just a normal beam
Yea, RR is ridiculously scary with those 2 assists. Sentinel is 100% gimmicks, as usual. It’s hard to get in with Doom, but I found that the drones help him out a bit. One random j.s foot dive is all you need. My zoning is pretty much cycling through the assists and spitfires, filling the screen with projectiles. Sentinel drones are good for calling log trap since people are tempted to jump most of the time. I feel like one of the biggest problems with RR are teleport characters. The biggest problem with RR is being aware of all of his options at any given time. He seems to have an answer for everything but responding and executing perfectly is a must since one mistake = death.

Is it possible at all to combo into Weapon X Prime anymore without an OTG assist? I was gonna run my old X-23, Dante, Sentinel/Akuma team but it looks like Laura isn’t as friendly with Dante or Akuma anymore.
Not that I’ve seen. Capcom stupidly nerfed follow ups with Standard assists in some desperation attempt to make wall bounce or hard knockdown assists more useful. All it did was make Wesker OTG assist higher tier. Stupid.

I just tested it out in matches last night… team is super legit I think. way too many unblockables. X-23/Nova or Nova/X-23 doesn’t matter. this team can open people up and kill them like nobody’s business
