X-23 UMVC3 Changes

Sure, X-23 needs assists for maximum potential, but if you don’t have assists available she still has some of the most absurd X-factor in the game. Kill most characters off a touch and usually no meter, set up Dirt Nap for the next one and keep the rampage going. I’m seeing this now more than ever since I always only had vanilla X-23 on point, and now that I have her batting cleanup, my X-factor rips through characters like wet tissue paper.

Really my team has 3 X-factor beasts, it’s a nice change from vanilla Ammy who got nearly nothing from X-factor, and vanilla Tron who only delayed the inevitable (sorry, I’m no PR Rog lol)

Her X-factor damage boost is a little bit below average (at 40% on level 2 and 60% on level 3), but she still can kill 16 out of the 50 characters in a basic combo in Level 2 (and I am talking very basic). The assists are helpful but I use them for more of a way to get in, which I feel that she should use the assists for the mix ups then the combo extension. This is taking into account that the assists cause more HSD than in vanilla. I’m not sure if she gets a speed increase, but if she does then her popping X factor early for two character deaths would be a great idea. She is already fast enough as is, so with more speed she probably could get in fast enough before someone could react.

X-23 having a lower than average x-factor damage boost is a moot point when she has a functional infinite in x-factor lvl 2 and 3. It goes likes this:

launch, sj.H xx H-scythe xx L-talon, OTG ankle slice, launch -> repeat until death.
Dirt nap incoming character, OTG ankle slice, launch, repeat.

Exception: Dormammu, who for some reason only gets hit by one hit of ankle slice in x-factor. Seriously, wtf.

Dorm has a weird hitbox. I was testing my nova floor bounce relaunch stuff more, and it doesn’t work vs. him at all. or Sent. it might not work vs. huge characters, which sucks, because Dormammu MUST die. the guy is way too freakin good now

case in point that #1 capcom has no fuckin idea what they are doing #2 don’t buff characters that are already good

I love your combos with that team, I only changed it slightly so my team for X-23 in this game is Dante/X-23/Nova (or X-23/Dante/Nova), you get a bit less damage without Wesker’s relaunch, but it’s worth it for the guaranteed kill on the second character, plus, you can use the retarded stuff with Nova assist to reset the groundbounce with Dante, Richard N s2

Gotta work on my Nova though.

Hey guys… if you found a Lv2/3 X-factor infinite for X-23 that could be set up off any touch, would you post about it or keep it to yourselves?

Y’know… hypothetically speaking, of course.

I play X-23 first now so it wouldn’t make a difference to my team.

Except…I would just wonder forever how it works.

Please record UMVC3 Matches Jin!

I got some stuff from last week’s tourney that I’ll compile for you guys. I would have done stuff a lot earlier but my brother lost the cord for his camera that I was originally going to use.

Always had a question about this. Why does Chaos Dimension beat Silent Kill? Me and my friend were messing around in the lab and somehow CD beats SK if the two strike at the same time.

How can you be sure that they were hitting at the same time? You can’t see (or even hear) the startup of Dirt Nap. If someone could manage to pull this off in a frame-perfect way, it’d be interesting in the name of science, I guess. Probably it’s handled the same way all cinematic move trades are handled, but I have no idea what that is.

the lvl3 infinite I figured out was [OTG, launch, sj.H xx L DP xx qcf+L] x infinite. does the same thing work in lvl2?

Counter supers beat silent kill as well, and shows you what attack X-23 is doing… silent kill is just her s.L jab

No TMNTemps, even better.

Here’s a video:

The method is a bit tricky. The idea is that you do a st. S, cancel into super jump and perform an air Crescent Scythe as close to the ground as possible. Since there’s some input leniency, I actually use a 360 motion to pull it off more consistently. Here’s the input (as if I’m facing right, not left like in the video)

X-factor (lv2 or lv3): st. :s: :f::uf::u::ub::b::db::d::df::h:, :qcf::l:, land, :qcf::m: (full charge), st. :s: :f::uf::u::ub::b::db::d::df::h:, :qcf::l:, land, :qcf::m: (full charge), st. :s: , etc…

As far as I can tell this is a true infinite and it works on all characters. My execution isn’t really good enough to keep this loop up for the whole 20 seconds, but it seems like the moves involved all cause enough hit stun to loop indefinitely (not that you’d ever need to do that, but just to prove it’s a true infinite). It works in both Lv3 and Lv2, although the timings are a little bit different in each.

Things that you could go wrong if you miss the input/timing:
[]Nothing comes out after the S, make sure you are hitting up in your motion
[
]You get air H or air Talon Dive H instead of air Crescent Scythe H (this happens to me at the end of the video - notice that Nova actually flips out of it before the Talon Dive even lands, lol). This is usually caused by missing the motions or doing an incomplete motion.
[]You might get a ground Crescent Scythe H (not sure why this happens, but it can, maybe for doing it too late? You want X-23 to say “You like that?” and not “Weak!” - the second is for the ground Crescent Scythe)
[
]You get another ground move like Decapitating Slice (probably also from doing it too late)
You can also start this loop off any touch from any combo. Just X-factor and start the loop with the OTG. Much more useful than the Neck Slice infinite, that requires you to land Neck Slice on a landed opponent.

Hopefully everyone enjoys this… definitely something worth practicing for ANY serious X-23 player. Someone do this in a major so the whole world can get hype

edit: I read somewhere that TMNTemps was trying to shrug off his old name so I changed above

Didn’t I just post this 1 page ago? =P. No salt, nice video.

For the first 1 or two air combos, you can just do j.H xx L-talon for an easier corner carry - if you start out with the scythe combo, you might need to squeeze in a dash before the OTG, as shown.

X-23/Hulk/Viper (or Wesker, Viper is only really here for the OTG)
Ultimate Hulk is hilarious, he got the most retarded buffs ever… he is super good now. and his super does 405k… and he has a high durability projectile that also OTGs… ooooh yeah

I’ve got a one assist 830k damage combo at the end (if I wasn’t vs Zero you could likely push this to one assist for ~850k at least), two assist 899k and then two assist 945k all for ONE BAR at the end of the vid too

I’ve used X-23/Hulk since vanilla. I use Hulk’s horizontal Gamma Charge assist, though. It’s one of the fastest startup assists, and you can hit confirm out of it on left/right mixups. A basic setup that I do is any time I land a cr/sM, call A1 (Gamma Charge) assist simultaneously, then cancel into Mirage Feint M. Hits from behind and you can confirm out of it with sH, S (you hit them pretty high above you, so I don’t go for fancy ground combos off of this; a basic combo, with a relaunch, still does almost 900k). It also works regardless of whether or not the cr/sM hits or whiffs. There are a couple ways to defend this, the easiest is to pushblock the cr/sM. This still leaves you at massive frame advantage and I usually dash forward and go for an ambiguous Talon Dive afterward. The other way is to block the first hit forward, second backward (you can defend it by just blocking backward, but it’s scary to just eat a normal in the face like that). Generally people only do this once they’ve seen the mixup several times, at this point you can mix it up by canceling the cr/sM into 236L (charge). Hulk will hit them in the front, then the neck slicer will catch them out of the hitstun for whatever combo you want. Again, if they block, you’re still in their face at neutral or better frame advantage.

This works great as a reset in the corner off a knockdown, too, because from the right spot you can input the crM A1 to hit meaty, visually confirm which way they rolled, then go for the mirage feint M in that direction.

Sorry, I didn’t see it it anywhere! Good to have a video anyway though

yoooooooo… I think i found new tech that is going to make x-23 god tier in this game.

I hope it’s something that helps us fight Zero. Cuz good lord we need something like that. Either that or it better be the most broke shit ever when you finally get them on the ground.

Too much tech hype in here, lol. I’ve got a piece of tech I’ve been sitting on - thought it was patched out in ultimate, but it turns out it still works. I’ll try to make a video after finals are done.

Teaser: it’s a true 50-50 without an assist.
