I personally prefer cornerless gates to octagons or square gates. Rolling motion is a LOT smoother. You should get off fireballs and hurricane kicks a lot faster, too.
Also, if you’re used to the diagonals of a Dragon Punch or Chun Li’s Super, it’s not a big deal. I can’t see how any of the 360-degree roll characters (ie, Zangief) wouldn’t be easier to control with this gate…
I picked up on circle gate action quick when I installed my first one in an LS-32. Guess what? I’m installing circle gates in ALL my LS-32’s from now on!
If it were economical, I’d probably retrofit at least half my JLF’s with circle gates (assuming it feels as good as an LS-32 main circle gate).
I just got my JLF modded (square) circle gate today and haven’t had a chance to test it yet. I’ll play a bit of SF IV and Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 – two very different games – and get back to you with the results. The circle gate, btw, is fitted to my Macross-themed White HRAP 3…
As it stands, I think Sasuke did a nice job tooling the circle gate I paid for. Not a bad way to spend $11 IMHO if you don’t have the tools or time (my big issue now) to make one yourself.
I’ve got plenty of square gates in reserve myself (13 for 13 JLFs that aren’t using them!!!), so I might be tempted to tool one or two up for myself since I do have a Dremel and filing tools.
One big advantage of Sasuke’s method of making circle gates versus the method MKL discussed months ago is that everybody has a square gate! You don’t have to buy another gate (MKL modded a two-way gate into a circle gate) to mod unless you got rid of your square gate(s) already…
People here don’t buy square gates… The mentality of a bunch of members is that you have to “play Japanese” with square gates which I think is rubbish. *Play with what’s comfortable for YOU. * I can hack most gates myself but I’m most comfortable with a circle gate on the LS-32…
EDIT: Wish there were a way to post feedback on the sale. I don’t see a way to do this on the new Beta forum. Sasuke shipped the circle gate quickly in the mail and I got it safe and sound today. It was securely packed. A+ for shipping for sure!
