WTS: Custom Sanwa Round Gates

@jdm i just wanted to thank you for your explanations and suggestions! really appreciate it!

ok guys im gonna order up about 20 gates hopefully in the next couple hours…

pm me with how ever many you need and hopefully i can get a steady flow goin out 2 all of you!!

-Dan

edit: so i did a bit of hunting for bits… and if i wanna get a round gate out of a 2way gate im gonna have 2 free hand it… and i would much rather not… for the sake of quality…

I think that is why people like the Octagon from Seimitsu.
Because the Octagon is inside the Square.
Like how M K L did Circle in Square.

Sanwa Octagon is outside of Square.
Like how your Circle is outside Square.

I don’t have comparison picture for that.
You can get one though.
Laugh.

I hope that my information does not hurt your sale.

Also interested in one of these!

$11 is more than reasonable… Take into account shipping, the time to make one of these well.

I’ve played with the round gate on the LS-32-01 and prefer that to octagonal or square gate.

Sorry, but I’m not Japanese and I didn’t like the Happ sticks in the North American arcades, either!

Modding a stick to find your own level of comfort is perfectly okay by me… I don’t understand all these absolute comments by some forum members. “You must do things this way,” or “It’s ALWAYS been this way!”

Everyone has to find their own way.

I was about to ask if somebody was going to make a round gate for the JLF… never understood why Sanwa never bothered!

I appreciate and respect entrepeurship… Taking risk is not something to be sneezed at!

thanks george! i got you down 4 one!

in all honesty, i don’t see why you can’t just post how you did it (even though it is probably a 19mm bit) in a tutorial so others can do it themselves at home.
edit. nvm someone already did.

Free bump. How are these coming along? I sent you a PM.

ok guys got 6 gates in today im expecting a few more next week all of you that pm’d me for a get expect one back! they are all ready 2 go just awaiting payment!

-Dan

Just bought another one. These are slick for anyone who is on the verge of an order.

Bump!

will only be making six more and im done… so if you want one speak up! still waiting on them tho, but after those i probably wont be making anymore…

Absolutely no more? :shake:
Because I want for two, but not now.

So how much is one Restrictor Gate?
$11?

yea its $11 i might later on but as for now after the last six no more… unless i start getting random messages asking for more, then sure but right now i cant afford 2 lose money…
im not making much off these as it is… im making about $2 profit… so yea.

-Dan

Is there still one left? If so I’ll pick up the last one~

i just got mine and put it in my stick. i love the cornless goodness! anyone thinkin of getting one, pick it up before he runs out

If there’s any more left, or if anyone who bought one isn’t happy with theirs, I’m interested as well. Holla at me

got a few more gates coming in tomorrow! if any one wants in on this batch please pm me!

Thanks

-Dan

hey my i ask whats the diffrence between this and a octo gate?

I personally prefer cornerless gates to octagons or square gates. Rolling motion is a LOT smoother. You should get off fireballs and hurricane kicks a lot faster, too.

Also, if you’re used to the diagonals of a Dragon Punch or Chun Li’s Super, it’s not a big deal. I can’t see how any of the 360-degree roll characters (ie, Zangief) wouldn’t be easier to control with this gate…

I picked up on circle gate action quick when I installed my first one in an LS-32. Guess what? I’m installing circle gates in ALL my LS-32’s from now on!

If it were economical, I’d probably retrofit at least half my JLF’s with circle gates (assuming it feels as good as an LS-32 main circle gate).

I just got my JLF modded (square) circle gate today and haven’t had a chance to test it yet. I’ll play a bit of SF IV and Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 – two very different games – and get back to you with the results. The circle gate, btw, is fitted to my Macross-themed White HRAP 3…

As it stands, I think Sasuke did a nice job tooling the circle gate I paid for. Not a bad way to spend $11 IMHO if you don’t have the tools or time (my big issue now) to make one yourself.

I’ve got plenty of square gates in reserve myself (13 for 13 JLFs that aren’t using them!!!), so I might be tempted to tool one or two up for myself since I do have a Dremel and filing tools.

One big advantage of Sasuke’s method of making circle gates versus the method MKL discussed months ago is that everybody has a square gate! You don’t have to buy another gate (MKL modded a two-way gate into a circle gate) to mod unless you got rid of your square gate(s) already…

People here don’t buy square gates… The mentality of a bunch of members is that you have to “play Japanese” with square gates which I think is rubbish. *Play with what’s comfortable for YOU. * I can hack most gates myself but I’m most comfortable with a circle gate on the LS-32…

EDIT: Wish there were a way to post feedback on the sale. I don’t see a way to do this on the new Beta forum. Sasuke shipped the circle gate quickly in the mail and I got it safe and sound today. It was securely packed. A+ for shipping for sure!

cool george let me know how it is when u test it out

I liked it!

This is the closest a JLF (double-spring modded JLF-SP) gets to an LS-32 with a circle gate.

I think the gate revived the JLF for me. I think I’ll keep stock JLF’s on most of my sticks from now and only buy LS-32’s for homebrew cases and old-mod sticks (re: Agetec Dreamcast, etc.).

It was about the same as using my main LS-32 joystick on SFIV and M Vs C2. The JLF is always going to be a bit looser than the LS-32 if all mods are equal but I honestly felt that the circle gate felt more natural.

Oddly enough, what tired me out was pressing buttons on M Vs C2 – not the stick! I was a bit concerned about the Square Gate center being made bigger in this mod but honestly it feels pretty darn slick and my dual-spring mod JLF re-centers as quickly as it would with an Octogate. Not bad at all!

Square gates feel least natural (at least to me); after all when you swing a bat or racket you’re not ROUNDING a square but inscribing an arc through the air! Octagonal is a bit better than square (to me) but still not as natural as a circle gate. We DON’T inscribe arcs with notched indents, either, in real life!

This is one of those mods you wish you didn’t have to do or get modded parts for. There’s no good reason for Sanwa not to be producing a circle gate for the JLF any more than there is for Seimitsu not to be producing shaft covers for the LS-32 sticks, either. It just doesn’t make any sense when so many people come around to wanting these things… Especially the LS-32 shaft cover. Unfortunately, companies don’t always listen to their customers…
