Woman's Tourney Thoughts

It could start happening as soon as next year as far as women becoming closer to men in skill level and bringing more female players in general. There just has to be something out there or in the women themselves that will get them excited about the intricacies of high level SF. So that they will have fun practicing the things that we use at high level play and learn to use them without fear under pressure like we do.

Like Kayane specifically mind game wise played very smart but her execution was pretty off on basic Chun BnB’s. She also did a lot of “making up” BnB’s that weren’t reliable and dropped those as well. Arguably Burnyourbra’s execution was better than Kayane’s but her mind games weren’t quite on the same level. There needs to be more of a cohesiveness between execution and mind games of the players. Sherryjenix is in a worse boat than both of them. While her “Viper” execution isn’t bad with her ability to pull out insta SJC burn kicks and thunder knuckle feints without too much trouble she has trouble doing Viper’s basic link combos. Stuff u shouldn’t be dropping at high level tournaments. When u get in close range u wanna maximize your damage output during footsies with your c.MP and s.MP links. She also doesn’t use enough c.HP at all and Viper is hilariously less scary without the use of c.HP either as a footsie or in combos. Her footsie game in general isn’t that great and she almost never really looks for situations to counter hit or whiff punish with c.MP, c.MK or c.HP. She just throws those special moves out there and that will just get her killed by good players.

It will take time but it can be done. I really liked the women’s tournament though because it at least was a ground work for what can be improved on for the future with the women players. The only way to really better yourself is to see yourself for all of your mistakes and there’s no better way to do that than to do it on the Evo floor in an event where your mistakes will specifically be pointed out in another tournament with other women.

I think you’re putting more of an emphasis on the physical differences between the two genders than is necessarily relevant. Yes, there undoubtedly dramatic physiological differences between men and women, but I don’t see any clear indication that these differences are truly worth considering in this context.

I told myself I wouldn’t respond to this shit, but oh well.

I can’t believe I need to re-write this, fuck you iPhone.

@Tanner: I think you’re exagerating there. Right now, we already have female players that can hang around the best in the world based ontheir game alone. Choco Blanka and KAYOpolice. These two would easily dominate half of the EVO top 16.

Of course, try are a minority. It will take a bit more time for the rest of thefemale players to get on their level, since usually, a female plays with a more casual and less competitive spirit than a male. However, I think we won’t have to wait for too long.
The playerbase has been evolving very fast lately and it’s almost irrecognizable from what I hear it was before. the player quality has also taken a huge leap, not only thanks to the Internet, but because Japan actually interacts withthe rest of the world now. it’s just a matter of time till this wave of change hits females.

Lastly, lolwtf, are you actually bringing the evolutionary theory into this convo? if anything, girls would have an advantage on that. aren’t their brains theorized to be better aka more rational than ours?

It’s more than just physical strength that gives men the edge biologically. Our brains are more wired to do this kind of stuff. Sure there will be a couple of exceptions to the rule, but for the most part, it’s just not going to happen. Look at Danica Patrick, only one female was able to make it to that level and she sucked. I wish there were more Danica’s but there just isn’t.

ah yes, Dr. Thomas McDoodles Theory of “their brains are better than ours”

You guys seriously need to take a fucking sociology class, jesus

Hey, better than Dr.Keits’ theory of the Female Attraction to Specific Character Archetypes aka FASCA.

lol@ sociology

Yo, I don’t know if you know this, but trolling isn’t “telling people things they don’t want to hear.”

lmao. men and women are different guys, its science you can read it in a book. except for an actual science book, I don’t read that stuff.

It took about, what, 30 minutes on finals day? I could care less. I thought some of the rounds were good (when the Ken player got a pefect, the French Chun action). I expected the level of play to be better, but I wasn’t surprised that it wasn’t. I don’t see why people are crying about it. Cry moar. I think it’s a positive thing. Though in the end, I don’t care if it stays (and grows bigger) or goes.

You suck at this as much as COUM. I wouldn’t laugh.

stop feeding the troll
ignore him.

About my thought
i think women invitational was a sucess

How incapable SRK is of handling this subject even as a topic of discussion is probably more telling and distressing than the women’s invitational itself.

Edit: Kanta should I get an iphone

Well men and women are completely different. Women, you see, prefer to play strong female archetypes like Chun-Li or C. Viper. Men, are the complete and total opposite. They prefer to play strong male archetypes, like Ryu or Boxer. You can see the biology at work here, it’s quite clear, the sexes could not be more different in their preferences. That’s motherfuckin science, PEACE.

My thoughts on the event is plain and simple, I started off to hate it but I grew to like it when I saw it in action.
I might join next year if they have it.

What type of person wants to play Twelve?

Agreed. I knew I was taking a risk making this topic to open up a can of worms like I said and at first it started off fine and quickly derailed like I had feared.

I would have like to see Choco and Kayo show up to actually challenge Kayane a bit more. Also, I hope to see money matches between these 3 ladies against top male players in September, because it’d be a better showing of their skills rather than the theorys we are kicking around on how good they are compared to guys.

All in all the womans tourney was a success like D Proto said, and the only major hiccup was Sherry being both a dits and bringing beef to start a near cat fight against an opponent. Just because you don’t like someone doesn’t mean you shouldn’t shake their hand if they offer it. It means they are giving YOU respect as a player so show the same back.

I suck because I don’t stick my head in the sand and pretend everyone is the exact same? Seriously though, if women come on the scene and start making top 8 at evo I’d be more than happy. There probably are a couple girls that could hang with evo top 8 players, but they are extremely rare and I don’t think we’ll be seeing too many more of them. Hope I’m wrong, but we got 2 things against us, the fact women don’t like that shit and women’s general disinterest in competition.

This is a strawman argument no one is actually making.

At first I thought the concept was sexist but after taking a moment to think about it I get it. It promotes female involvement if SF. As stated before it’s not fare to say males were flat out better than the girls when the ratio of guys to girls was like 500 to 1. The way I see it the girls are still learning the game and may not have years of experience in SF like many of the male players. Maybe no female player has emerged that can role with the top male players in SF but it’s happened in other fighting games. If many girls put in the time to SF4 you’d see some female talent showing up.
